Northern Coalfields & OIL Ink MoU for CSR-Funded Eklavya School Infrastructure Development

Northern Coalfields Limited and Oil India Ltd, along with the National Scheduled Tribe Finance and Development Corporation, signed an MoU to develop CSR-funded infrastructure for an Eklavya Model Residential School in the National Capital. Ministry of Tribal Affairs Secretary Ranjana Chopra stated that computers and other essential facilities will be provided to strengthen the school’s educational infrastructure. She also highlighted that Northern Coalfields will support 30 schools in Madhya Pradesh under its CSR initiatives. The collaboration aims to enhance the quality of education and create better opportunities for tribal students.

The newly appointed EDs include Shri Sanjib Kumar Gogoi as ED (Offshore), Shri Kishore Kumar Das as ED and Executive Officer to CMD, Shri Raghunath Mishra as ED (Business Development), Shri Dharam Singh as ED (Exploration & Drilling), Shri Pothumudi Venkata Ramana Murthy as ED (Contracts & Procurement), Shri Raj Kishore Singh as ED (Fire Services), and Shri Santanu Kumar Saikia as ED & CEO of OIL Green Energy Ltd. Additionally, Dr. Niruj Kumar Das has been appointed as ED (MS, Obstetrics & Gynaecology), and Shri Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya as ED (Finance). OIL and BPCL Sign JV Agreement for City Gas Distribution in Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: Oil India Limited (OIL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) at BPCL’s Corporate Office to form a Joint Venture Company (JVC) for establishing a City Gas Distribution network in Arunachal Pradesh. The agreement was signed in the presence of Dr. Ranjit Rath, Chairman & Managing Director, OIL, and Shri Sanjay Khanna, Director (Refineries) with Additional Charge of CMD, BPCL. This company will undertake the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Arunachal Pradesh, awarded to the OIL- BPCL consortium during the 12th CGD Bid Round conducted by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).

The JVC will set up CNG stations and provide PNG connections to domestic, commercial, and industrial users, supporting the Government’s gas-based economy vision. Dr. Rath highlighted OIL’s commitment to clean energy in the region, citing its hydrocarbon legacy and the Kumchai-Kusijan gas pipeline commissioning as key milestones in advancing India’s hydrocarbon vision for the North-East.

Shri Sanjay Khanna, CMD of BPCL, remarked: “This Joint Venture reaffirms BPCL’s commitment to expanding clean energy access across India, with special focus on the North-East. Together with OIL, we will build a strong City Gas Distribution network to serve households, industries, and transport. Arunachal Pradesh holds great potential, and through this initiative we aim to drive sustainable growth, improve quality of life, and support India’s vision of a gas-based economy”.

GAIL signs 15-year Gas Sale and Purchase agreement with OIL

GAIL (India) Limited has extended its Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement with Oil India Limited (OIL) for another 15 years from July 1, 2025, supplying up to 900,000 SCMD of natural gas from OIL’s Bakhri Tibba Block in Rajasthan to be used by the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL), highlighting the collaborative efforts of both Maharatna CPSEs to enhance energy security. The agreement was signed in New Delhi by senior executives of both companies and underscores their commitment to domestic gas production, transportation, and distribution. GAIL operates an extensive pipeline network of over 16,421 km transmitting more than 127 MMSCMD of natural gas in FY 2024-25, along with a significant LNG portfolio of 16.56 MMTPA, and has a strong presence in petrochemicals, city gas distribution, and renewable energy sectors, reflecting its holistic approach to energy development and diversification.

OIL hosted the Jeevika Harvest Festival

Under its flagship CSR initiative, OIL Jeevika, Oil India Limited (OIL) hosted the Jeevika Harvest Festival today at Na Motapung Gaon, Tinsukia. This celebratory event recognized the hard work of farmers from 14 villages and 861 households in the Hapjan and Guijan Development Blocks, showcasing the abundant harvest achieved through the OIL Jeevika project, coordinated by the Oil India Rural Development Society (OIRDS). Dignitaries, including Shri Bhairab Bhuyan, President of OIRDS, and other senior officials from OIL and OIRDS, attended the festival to honor the contributions of these dedicated farmers.

With a focus on diversified livelihood interventions, OIL Jeevika-Assam supports various farm-based clusters, including tea and spices such as turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and king chili across 217.56 hectares of cultivable land. The festival featured an impressive display of crops harvested under this initiative, alongside local Agarbatti produced by women from self-help groups. Themed ‘Sowing Hope, Reaping Thanks,’ the Jeevika Harvest Festival not only highlighted the farmers’ tireless efforts but also showcased the positive outcomes of OIL Jeevika, such as the formation of producer groups and the implementation of integrated nutrient management practices. Through these initiatives, OIL aims to boost household incomes, enhance agricultural skills, and foster sustainable growth in rural communities.

OIL signed JVA with Assam Power Generation Corporation to work together in Green Energy Business

OIL signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (APGCL) on 8th of January, 2024 at Guwahati in order for achieving OIL’s target for net zero by 2040. OIL already established 188.1 MW of renewable energy plants across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

The JVA was executed by Biswabrata Lahkar, Executive Director (Business Development) on behalf of OIL and Bibhu Bhuyan, Managing Director on behalf of APGCL in presence of Chairman, APGCL and other senior officials of OIL and APGCL.

IOC’s JV for building Biofuels production capacities

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Indian Oil) and Praj Industries Limited (Praj) have recently signed a term sheet to advance plans to strengthen biofuels production capacities in India. Various biofuels covered under this MoU include Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Ethanol, Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG), Biodiesel and Bio-bitumen among others. Earlier in October 2021, both the Companies had entered into an agreement to form a 50:50 Joint Venture to this end.

Talking about the development, Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman, Indian Oil, said, “The collaboration with an Indian biofuel major – Praj, is a remarkable milestone in Indian Oil’s green energy transition journey. It will strengthen our resolve to achieve our goal of net-zero operational emissions by 2046 and maintain our leadership in the green energy domain.”
