Hazaribag: NTPC Mining Ltd (NML) achieved a key mine-safety milestone, with three open-cast coal mines earning 5-star ratings in the Star Rating of Coal Mines 2024-25, conducted by the office of the coal controller under the Union ministry of coal. Pakri-Barwadih coal mine in Barkagaon, Hazaribag, retained country’s no. 1 position for the second consecutive year,1 position for the second consecutive year, reaffirming its leadership in safe and sustainable mining. Dulanga mine in Odisha ranked fifth and Talaipalli mine in Chhattisgarh eighth among 5-star-rated rated mines nationwide

RANCHI. Shri Subrat Kumar Dash has assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NTPC Mining Limited (NML), the coal mining subsidiary of NTPC Limited. He officially took over the role on June 17, 2026, at the company’s headquarters in Ranchi. An Electrical Engineer by profession, Dash joined NTPC in 1989 as an Executive Trainee and brings nearly 37 years of rich experience in the power and energy sector. His appointment is expected to further strengthen NTPC Mining’s operational excellence and support the company’s strategic growth in the coal mining business.

Pakri Barwadih Bags 5-Star Rated Opencast Coal Mine Award

NTPC Mining Limited’s Pakri-Barwadih Coal Mining Project has been awarded the 5-Star Rated Opencast Coal Mine Award, securing 1st place among all opencast coal mines in India.

Shri Shivam Srivastava, Director (Fuel) along with Shri Subrat Kumar Dash, HoP (PB-CMP) and Shri Chandrashekhar (Mine Agent PB-CMP) received this award from Hon’ble Union Minister Shri G Kishan Reddy and Hon’ble MoS Shri Satish Chandra Dubey at a function in Mumbai.

This recognition is a testimony of NTPC’s commitment to sustainable mining, innovation, and environmental stewardship.

Animesh Jain appointed as Regional ED for NTPC’s Coal Mining Division

Shri Animesh Jain has been elevated to the post of Regional Executive Director (Coal), NTPC Limited . As head of the Coal Mining Division of NTPC, he shall be responsible for all the coal mining projects in the States of Jharkhand, Odisha & Chhattisgarh and Coal Mining-HQ at Ranchi. Shri Jain continues to be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of NTPC Mining Limited (NML), a Subsidiary of NTPC Limited.

Shri Jain is leading the transfer of the coal mining business from NTPC to NML and has signed the Deed of Adherence with the Ministry of Coal for the same to augment the coal-producing capacity. Shri Jain also served as Managing Director of Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Ltd (BIFPCL) in 2020-21 and continues to be a board member till date. Prior to assuming the role of Managing Director at BIFPCL, he was responsible for establishing operations of NTPC Limited in Myanma.
