										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>NEW DELHI.</strong> NTPC Limited has approved an investment of ?20,456.70 crore for the Lara Super Thermal Power Project Stage III (2&#215;800 MW). The decision was taken during the company&#8217;s Board meeting held on Saturday, July 11, 2026.</p>
<p>The new project will add 1,600 MW of power generation capacity through two 800 MW units. This expansion is expected to help meet India&#8217;s growing electricity demand and strengthen the country&#8217;s power supply.News</p>
<p>According to NTPC&#8217;s stock exchange filing, the project has been approved at an estimated cost of ?20,456.70 crore. The company shared the information with both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>BONGAIGAON.</strong> NTPC Bongaigaon formally launched the fifth edition of its flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2026, on July 4, 2026. The inaugural ceremony of the month-long residential programme was graced by Chief Guest Shri Jaikumar Srinivasan, Director (Finance), NTPC Limited, in the presence of Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, alongside senior officials, dignitaries, parents, and teachers. Reflecting a deepened commitment to rural community development, this year&#8217;s batch has expanded to welcome 50 girls aged 10–12 years selected from 12 neighboring schools. The grand opening commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the NTPC theme song, setting a purposeful tone for the four-week journey ahead.</p>

<p>Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri Jaikumar Srinivasan underscored that empowering young girls is fundamental to building resilient families and stronger communities. He highly lauded NTPC Bongaigaon for fostering an inspiring, protective environment and later inspected the residential amenities to interact directly with the participants. To encourage their independence and future educational journeys, Shri Srinivasan personally distributed bicycles to all 50 girls. Echoing this vision, Shri Arnab Maitra reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to inclusive growth, defining GEM as a cornerstone initiative designed to groom confident, capable, and socially responsible future women leaders. The launch event also featured a vibrant cultural showcase, a documentary on the GEM journey, and moving success stories shared by the program&#8217;s 2023 alumni batches.</p>

Since debuting locally in 2022, the Bongaigaon chapter has successfully empowered 210 girls, standout among which is a merit policy where the top 10% of performers—selected via independent external evaluation—receive fully sponsored free education at the township school. Over her distinguished career, she has developed deep expertise across core HR domains, including talent acquisition, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, and workforce transformation. Having climbed the ranks within the NTPC ecosystem, her elevation to this leadership position underscores her profound understanding of the organization&#8217;s culture and strategic people objectives.</p>
<p>Prior to this appointment, she served as the Chief General Manager and Regional Head of HR for Western Region-II, alongside handling responsibilities as the Chief Human Resources Officer at NSPCL, a joint venture of NTPC and SAIL. In these roles, she successfully spearheaded major strategic talent management programs, industrial relations initiatives, and capability-building frameworks. Her journey within the power major reflects a steady ascent through key responsibilities, having started her career from the grassroots level as an Executive Trainee in Personnel.</p>
<p>In her new capacity as Executive Director, Premlata is slated to drive NTPC’s overarching people strategy, leadership development agenda, and workplace transformation initiatives. Her vast experience across regional operations and joint ventures will be instrumental as NTPC continues to align its human capital with evolving sectoral demands and organizational excellence goals.</p>
