SOLAPUR. NTPC Solapur township has been certified as a Net Zero Energy Township by the Indian Green Building Council, marking a significant milestone in sustainable infrastructure development. The township meets 100 percent of its annual energy requirement through renewable sources, reflecting its strong commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting India’s Panchamrit goals for climate action.

The township also stands out for its smart infrastructure, including energy-efficient systems, IoT-based smart metering and smart street lighting. It has been recognised as the first CPSE township to be declared a Smart Township, demonstrating how industrial development and environmental sustainability can go hand in hand.

NGEL, PTC India Sign MoU for Renewable Power

NEW DELHI. NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed an MoU with PTC India Limited to boost renewable energy power sales. The agreement, signed on March 31, 2026, aims to facilitate green power trading through bilateral deals and market-based mechanisms, supporting India’s clean energy transition.

The partnership will enhance renewable energy commercialization and market access, with both companies exploring opportunities to sell green power generated by NGEL. The MoU was signed in the presence of senior officials, including NGEL CEO Sarit Maheshwari and PTC India CMD Dr. Manoj Kumar Jhawar.

NTPC signs MoA with Lucknow Zoo to promote environmental sustainability

LUCKNOW. NTPC Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ) has signed a MoA with the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, Lucknow, to further strengthen its commitment towards environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The MoA has been signed on February 10, and formally exchanged between Sanjay Kumar Biswal (IFS) Director of the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, and Rahul Sharma, AGM (HR), NTPC NRHQ. The exchange took place in the presence of SN Panigrahi, CGM (HR), NTPC NRHQ, Dinesh Badola, Ranger, Lucknow Zoo, and other officials.

Under the agreement, NTPC NRHQ will provide financial support for the adoption of four lions and three Royal Bengal tigers. The initiative also includes the installation of two multi-tap water facility systems within the zoo premises to support animal welfare and improve visitor amenities.
