Chatra Signs Pact for Tribal Welfare Projects & model anganwadi centres

RANCHI. The district administration of Chatra has signed agreements with Central Coalfields Limited and NTPC Limited to support tribal welfare initiatives. Under the pact, houses of 28 Birhor families in Itkhori block will be repaired at a cost of Rs 28.2 lakh, while model anganwadi centres will also be developed across the district. The projects will be funded by the PSUs as part of their corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at improving living conditions of vulnerable tribal communities.

NTPC Limited Bongaigaon Launches Disha Classes 2026 to Empower Local Youth

BONGAIGAON. NTPC Bongaigaon has launched the 2026 batch of Disha Classes under its employee-led e-VOICE initiative and CSR programme, reaffirming its commitment to community development and youth empowerment. Started in 2019, the initiative prepares students from nearby areas for state and central competitive examinations, particularly for recruitment in police and armed forces. The new batch commenced on 17 February 2026 with around 45 students, supported by NTPC employees and the CISF unit. General Manager Anurag Gupta emphasised discipline and dedication, while HR Head Amit Kumar Asthana highlighted NTPC’s vision of inclusive growth. CISF Dy Commandant Ashish Kumar encouraged students to stay focused and physically fit. Over the past seven years, more than 21 local youth have secured employment in armed forces through this initiative.

NTPC signs MoA with Lucknow Zoo to promote environmental sustainability

LUCKNOW. NTPC Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ) has signed a MoA with the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, Lucknow, to further strengthen its commitment towards environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The MoA has been signed on February 10, and formally exchanged between Sanjay Kumar Biswal (IFS) Director of the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, and Rahul Sharma, AGM (HR), NTPC NRHQ. The exchange took place in the presence of SN Panigrahi, CGM (HR), NTPC NRHQ, Dinesh Badola, Ranger, Lucknow Zoo, and other officials.

Under the agreement, NTPC NRHQ will provide financial support for the adoption of four lions and three Royal Bengal tigers. The initiative also includes the installation of two multi-tap water facility systems within the zoo premises to support animal welfare and improve visitor amenities.

NTPC Bongaigaon Launches Mobile Science Lab Project Across 60 Schools

BONGAIGAON. NTPC Bongaigaon has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Seva Bharati Purbanchal to implement a Mobile Science Lab Project across 60 government schools in Bongaigaon, Chirang and Kokrajhar districts, with a CSR outlay of Rs 57.88 lakh. The initiative aims to enhance science education in remote and underserved areas by deploying fully equipped mobile laboratory vans stocked with scientific instruments, demonstration kits and digital teaching tools. These mobile labs will offer students hands-on learning experiences in physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy and renewable energy, supported by trained instructors, IEC materials and structured capacity-building activities.

During the signing ceremony, senior representatives from NTPC Bongaigaon and Seva Bharati Purbanchal highlighted the project’s role in strengthening the local education ecosystem and promoting STEM learning. Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, noted that the initiative reflects NTPC’s long-term commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and nurturing future-ready talent in the region. Implemented over one year, the project will follow rigorous monitoring and reporting mechanisms, with NTPC conducting periodic reviews and site visits to ensure transparency, accountability and impactful delivery of outcomes.

The MoA was signed between Shri Riju Dutta, Secretary, Seva Bharati Purbanchal, and Shri Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of HR, NTPC Bongaigaon, in the presence of Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, Shri Sanjiv Barman, Joint Secretary, Seva Bharati Purbanchal, Shri Sanjiv Bist, Coordinator, and Shri Surendra Talkelkar, representative of the organisation.
