Bengaluru, April 15, 2025: NSDC International delegations visit Germany and held deliberation with various stakeholders about the strategic and cross-border skill partnerships to equip the global workforce with relevant, future-oriented capabilities in the context of rapidly evolving industry landscapes.

The delegate also participated in the prestigious OAV Conference held in Hamburg, Germany wherein 100 delegates from various countries including India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Malaysia, Indonesia and others participated to discuss the critical role of international cooperation in shaping a future-ready and globally competitive workforce.

NSDC International, wholly owned subsidiary of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) emphasized the importance of fostering new-age skills to meet the demands of rapidly evolving industries and global job markets.

As part of a high-level panel discussion, NSDC International focussed on bridging the gap between industry requirements and education providers across the globe, with a particular emphasis on Germany’s leadership in international workforce development. The discussion highlighted the urgent need for strategic, cross-border skill partnerships to equip the global workforce with relevant, future-oriented capabilities in the context of rapidly evolving industry landscapes.

During his address, Shri Alok Kumar, CEO, NSDC International mentioned, “As we navigate the complexities of global workforce demands, NSDC International is committed to fostering robust partnerships that bridge skill gaps and enhance employability worldwide. Our collaboration with German industries exemplifies this commitment, empowering Indian talent to excel globally while addressing workforce shortages. By aligning training with international industry needs, we ensure seamless transitions into global job markets. Our partnership is forward-looking, poised to strengthen economic ties and foster sustainable growth.”

NSDC International is at the forefront of enabling global mobility by preparing Indian candidates for international careers. This is being achieved through comprehensive language training in German and other foreign languages, coupled with domain-specific skills and cultural orientation. These programs are designed to ensure candidates are not only professionally competent but also socially adaptable, confident, and well-integrated into their destination countries.

During the visit, the NSDC International delegation participated in two key roundtable conferences. The first, hosted by iMove, enabled impactful discussions with leading German language and cultural training providers. The exchanges focused on collaborative models and best practices that could further strengthen India’s skilling ecosystem, while also enhancing the global employability of Indian youth. The second roundtable brought NSDC International together with German employers to gain deeper insights into skill gap, hiring expectations, industry requirements and integration strategies. These impactful discussions delved deep into India’s skilling and training frameworks to align more closely with actual job market demands in Germany and beyond.

In addition to these engagements, the NSDC International delegation visited a leading railway infrastructure academy in Germany to observe and learn from their practical, industry-aligned training methodologies. The visit reinforced the importance of hands-on training and institutional collaboration in workforce development. With over 98,000 vacancies reported in Germany’s railway sector as of November 2024, and projections indicating a shortage of up to five million skilled professionals by 2030 due to demographic shifts, the need for international cooperation in this sector has become more urgent than ever.

NSDC International’s participation at these conferences and its engagements in Germany reflect its broader commitment to fostering strategic global partnerships, enhancing the quality of skill development in India, and supporting the country’s vision of becoming a leading hub for skilled talent worldwide. Through its continued efforts to bridge skill gaps and nurture global competencies, NSDC International is empowering individuals to pursue successful international careers and contribute meaningfully to the global workforce.

Bengaluru, April 7, 2025 – The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), in collaboration with the Nashik Zilla Parishad and Quality Council of India (QCI), has launched the “Sampanna Ghar Abhiyan” — a unique rural housing initiative designed to help over 1.5 lakh families build their own homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin.

This community-driven effort brings together 18 professional associations and grassroots institutions with a shared vision: to blend housing access with skill empowerment. Families won’t just receive support in building homes — they’ll also be trained to construct them with their own hands, creating a powerful link between livelihood and self-reliance.

NSDC will play a central role by standardising training modules and supporting the mobilisation of certified trainers across villages. On-ground skill delivery will be led by Shri Ramkrishna Arogya Sansthan, ensuring beneficiaries are equipped with practical construction skills that are safe, efficient and cost-effective. For NSDC, this collaboration is a reflection of its larger mission—to empower individuals with skills that not only enhance livelihoods, but transform communities.

The project is led by Mrs Ashima Mittal, CEO of Nashik Zilla Parishad.

Mr. Kunal Patil (President, CREDAI Nashik Metro) and Mr. Sachin Gulve (Vice President, Nashik Citizen Forum) are coordinating across technical and community bodies, while local architects are contributing to functional and user-friendly home design layouts suited for rural needs.

A wide network of associations—including experts in construction, solar energy, plumbing, sanitation, and building materials—has joined hands to support the campaign. This includes initiatives to provide building materials at factory prices, promote solar-powered solutions with support from the Maharashtra Solar Manufacturers Association, and design low-cost sanitation systems in partnership with the Indian Plumbing Association.

Local education institutions such as Maratha Education Trust, Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj and K.K. Wagh will also be involved, with students and faculty offering implementation support alongside rural housing engineers and Block Development Officers from Nashik Zilla Parishad. Together, they will help guide the families through construction while also assisting with availing benefits under government schemes.

A detailed project roadmap is being finalised this week, with implementation set to begin within the next fortnight. With its integrated, community-led and skill-based model, the Sampanna Ghar Abhiyan has the potential to become a national blueprint for rural housing interventions.

Jitendra Thakker, Convenor of Quality City Nashik, expressed gratitude to Mrs Ashima Mittal for her vision and leadership, adding that the initiative’s success lies in its ability to build dignity and confidence—brick by brick, skill by skill.

Bengaluru – April 7, 2025 – National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has partnered with Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), a leading autonomous state technical university, to launch a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for Skill Development. The two organisations formalised their alliance through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the Startup Mahakumbh in New Delhi. The initiative aims to equip learners with hands-on experience in manufacturing skill sets across critical sectors such as Energy, Health, Water, and Food.

The Centre of Excellence will focus on delivering specialized training in emerging technologies, including VLSI Design, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Data Science, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Smart Manufacturing, Blockchain, and more. With over 40 online and hybrid courses designed for students across ITI, Diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs, this collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing Skill India Mission, National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and National Credit Framework by integrating vocational education and skill development into mainstream academia.

Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC & MD, NSDC International said, “Today, we partnered with Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) at the Startup Mahakumbh to strengthen the skilling ecosystem in the energy sector. This collaboration will support the development of training infrastructure in smart manufacturing, along with Centres of Excellence focused on automotive, EV charging, renewable energy, and semiconductors. Training in the semiconductor domain is already underway, paving the way for youth to gain practical exposure in high-demand, future-oriented fields.”

Dr. S. Sundar Manoharan, Director General, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, said, “We are proud to collaborate with NSDC under the visionary leadership of Mr. Ved Mani Tiwari. With their support, PDEU has transformed its infrastructure into a hub for advanced skill training, especially in high-demand sectors like renewable energy and semiconductors. Our newly launched ATMP Semiconductor Packaging Centre is designed to train students in back-end packaging, encapsulation, and other critical skills, creating a strong pipeline of industry-ready talent.”

PDEU has been at the forefront of energy education and skill development since its inception in 2007. The university has empowered students by integrating industry-standard manufacturing lines within its academic campus, including a 45 MW Solar PV Manufacturing Line and an ATMP Semiconductor Packaging Line. These facilities bridge the gap between academia and industry while fostering innovation in renewable energy technologies such as solar and wind energy, lithium and vanadium energy storage systems, carbon capture solutions, and smart hybrid grids.

“This marks a significant shift—where industry is now turning to academia for manufacturing-focused skilling. For the first time, experiential learning of up to 225 hours is being integrated into academic credits through the National Credit Framework. We deeply value NSDC’s continued guidance and support in building this impactful and scalable education model.” added Dr Manoharan.

Through this collaboration with NSDC, PDEU will further enhance its infrastructure by incorporating advanced manufacturing capabilities into the Centre of Excellence. The CoE will serve as a hub for skill development programs nationwide, targeting students from Tier-1, Tier-2, and Tier-3 institutions. It is aligned with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG-4 (Quality Education), SDG-7 (Affordable & Clean Energy), SDG-13 (Climate Action), and SDG-17 (Partnerships for Goals).

To ensure seamless operations and sustainability, a Section 8 company will be established as part of this initiative. Jointly owned by PDEU and NSDC Trust, this entity will manage the CoE’s activities while creating an independent revenue stream through course fees. It will also support flagship national initiatives like Make-in-India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat by preparing students for core manufacturing processes and fostering self-reliance in critical industries.

The Centre of Excellence is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing India’s growing demand for skilled manpower as it prepares to have the largest working-age population by 2030. Through practical exposure delivered by industry-certified trainers provided by NSDC, the initiative seeks to enhance employability among students while contributing to India’s socio-economic development.

As a testament to its growing impact, TPSDI has already sensitized and trained over three lakh individuals, playing a vital role in bridging the skill gap across the power sector. Building on this momentum, Tata Power plans to significantly expand TPSDI’s reach by setting up more training centers across the country, in addition to the 11 centers currently in operation, thereby strengthening access to quality vocational training for youth across diverse geographies.

The partnership also provides a platform for the addition of new, future-ready domains such as energy storage, green hydrogen, and pumped hydros, aligned with India’s rapidly evolving green energy ecosystem. This collaboration with NSDC underscores TPSDI’s scale, impact, and excellence in workforce transformation. Going forward, we aim to significantly expand TPSDI’s footprint by establishing more centers beyond our current network of eleven. Through this, we will further strengthen India’s green energy talent ecosystem and contribute meaningfully to the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

Mr. Nitin Kapoor, Vice President, NSDC Academy, echoed the sentiment: “This partnership with TPSDI and Tata Power is a significant milestone for Skill India.
