Bengaluru, April 15, 2025: NSDC International delegations visit Germany and held deliberation with various stakeholders about the strategic and cross-border skill partnerships to equip the global workforce with relevant, future-oriented capabilities in the context of rapidly evolving industry landscapes.

The delegate also participated in the prestigious OAV Conference held in Hamburg, Germany wherein 100 delegates from various countries including India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Malaysia, Indonesia and others participated to discuss the critical role of international cooperation in shaping a future-ready and globally competitive workforce.

NSDC International, wholly owned subsidiary of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) emphasized the importance of fostering new-age skills to meet the demands of rapidly evolving industries and global job markets.

As part of a high-level panel discussion, NSDC International focussed on bridging the gap between industry requirements and education providers across the globe, with a particular emphasis on Germany’s leadership in international workforce development. The discussion highlighted the urgent need for strategic, cross-border skill partnerships to equip the global workforce with relevant, future-oriented capabilities in the context of rapidly evolving industry landscapes.

During his address, Shri Alok Kumar, CEO, NSDC International mentioned, “As we navigate the complexities of global workforce demands, NSDC International is committed to fostering robust partnerships that bridge skill gaps and enhance employability worldwide. Our collaboration with German industries exemplifies this commitment, empowering Indian talent to excel globally while addressing workforce shortages. By aligning training with international industry needs, we ensure seamless transitions into global job markets. Our partnership is forward-looking, poised to strengthen economic ties and foster sustainable growth.”

NSDC International is at the forefront of enabling global mobility by preparing Indian candidates for international careers. This is being achieved through comprehensive language training in German and other foreign languages, coupled with domain-specific skills and cultural orientation. These programs are designed to ensure candidates are not only professionally competent but also socially adaptable, confident, and well-integrated into their destination countries.

During the visit, the NSDC International delegation participated in two key roundtable conferences. The first, hosted by iMove, enabled impactful discussions with leading German language and cultural training providers. The exchanges focused on collaborative models and best practices that could further strengthen India’s skilling ecosystem, while also enhancing the global employability of Indian youth. The second roundtable brought NSDC International together with German employers to gain deeper insights into skill gap, hiring expectations, industry requirements and integration strategies. These impactful discussions delved deep into India’s skilling and training frameworks to align more closely with actual job market demands in Germany and beyond.

In addition to these engagements, the NSDC International delegation visited a leading railway infrastructure academy in Germany to observe and learn from their practical, industry-aligned training methodologies. The visit reinforced the importance of hands-on training and institutional collaboration in workforce development. With over 98,000 vacancies reported in Germany’s railway sector as of November 2024, and projections indicating a shortage of up to five million skilled professionals by 2030 due to demographic shifts, the need for international cooperation in this sector has become more urgent than ever.

NSDC International’s participation at these conferences and its engagements in Germany reflect its broader commitment to fostering strategic global partnerships, enhancing the quality of skill development in India, and supporting the country’s vision of becoming a leading hub for skilled talent worldwide. Through its continued efforts to bridge skill gaps and nurture global competencies, NSDC International is empowering individuals to pursue successful international careers and contribute meaningfully to the global workforce.

Youths should come to NSDC assessment centres for eligibility, certifications for global opportunities

Bengaluru, Feb 17, 2025: The youths and job seekers should avoid illegal migration routes, commonly referred as “donkey routes” for seeking opportunities in foreign countries and instead leverage NSDC International’s skilling initiatives for ethical migration, said, NSDC CEO and NSDC International MD Shri Ved Mani Tiwari.

In a message to the youths of India, Shri Tiwari emphasised on the process of ethical migration, and shared with media personnel here, how NSDC International with support of the central government has been developing pathways in collaboration with international governments in streamlining the migration process, as global market has lots of opportunities for skilled Indian youths.

“The world values skilled professionals, and with the right training, certifications, and ethical migration, the youths of India can build sustainable and long-term careers abroad. Taking illegal migration route is not only dangerous but also puts lives at risk. The youths can enrol themselves in skilling programs of NSDC International, which offer skilling programs and courses that are in demand in the global market,” Shri Tiwari said.

He said skill assessment centres have been set up for 100 trades across the country. “So effectively, anybody who believes that the person in the job is ready to go to Israel or Japan or Germany, they can simply present themselves to these assessment centres… we can provide a list of these assessment centres where their skills will be assessed and certified, and this is that they can apply for work visa also,” Shri Tiwari said.

He highlighted that NSDC International has been actively collaborating with international governments to create structured job opportunities for Indian youth. Recognizing India’s skilled workforce, several countries have approached NSDC International with employment opportunities. Israel has asked for 5,000 healthcare workers, an indication of demand for Indiana abroad. On similar lines, Germany and Japan continue to seek trained healthcare professionals.

To increase global employability, NSDC International is setting up global language labs offering training in Russian, Italian, Korean, and French languages. The initiative aims to break language barriers and increase the chances of Indian candidates, securing high-paying jobs overseas.

Shri Tiwari also said that NSDC is going to open 10 new international academies to empower youth in foreign languages and soft skills.

Since its inception in October 2021, NSDC International has created 88,924 overseas job opportunities across 22 countries. Through strategic collaborations with international governments and organizations, over 64,000 skilled Indian candidates have been successfully placed in countries, including in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

It has facilitated training and job placements across 19 industries, focusing on key sectors such as construction, mechanical, electrical & plumbing (MEP), and facility management.

“Skill yourself, choose the right path, and embrace global opportunities through ethical means. The future belongs to those who are prepared—let’s work together to shape a brighter tomorrow,” he concluded.

He said Isreal has asked for 20,000 skilled construction workers last year from India, besides the demand from the nation for 5,000 care workers.

He, further explained, about the enormous opportunities coming in the caregiving sector from across the globe, and NSDC International is in touch with agencies of foreign governments to inculcate right skills among the youths of our country to make them eligible for employment. “We believe that close to a lakh care-workers will start getting deployed (annually) in various parts of the world in about two years,” the NSDC CEO shared.

Describing it as an outcome of India’s soft diplomacy, he said, “Our care workers will be providing care and support to aging populations across the world.”

Shri Tiwari assured that NSDC International is working tirelessly to expand global employment avenues, ensuring a bright and prosperous future for India’s skilled workforce.

Last week, the first international academy was opened for language and soft skills in Greater Noida, which has a state-of-the-art language lab, the first such initiative in the country. It has the capacity to skill 1,000 candidates annually. The facility provides specialized training aligned to global job markets, including language certifications such as OSD and Goethe (German), JLPT (Japanese), and IELTS (English).

As part of this partnership, a state-of-the-art training lab has been set up in NSDCI Greater Noida training centre, designed to enhance practical caregiving skills and Japanese language education programs. This facility will enable trainees to build a solid foundation in both Japanese language proficiency and caregiving skills, ensuring they meet the demands of care operations effectively. Through this initiative, NSDCI and SOMPO Care aim to equip Indian caregivers with the necessary tools to excel in the global healthcare landscape, particularly in Japan, where there is a pressing need for skilled professionals.

On inauguration of the lab, Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, COO (Officiating CEO), NSDC & MD, NSDC International said, “We are excited for our partnership with Sompo Care Inc., marking a significant milestone for NSDC International. This collaboration enables us to provide specialized training programs for Indian nursing care personnel, enhancing their skills and preparing them for valuable opportunities in Japan’s healthcare system. Together, we aim to address the growing demand for skilled nursing professionals in Japan while strengthening the ties between India and Japan in the healthcare sector. Through this initiative, we are committed to bridging the gap in healthcare services and supporting the global need for qualified caregivers.”

Discussions between NSDCI and Sompo Care commenced in November 2023, leading to the signing of an agreement in July 2024.
The Nursing Care Lab will offer practical training conducted by qualified trainers from SOMPO Care, ensuring that candidates are well-prepared to meet operational standards in Japan.
