The PESB Panel selects Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia for the post of Director (P & P) of NLC India.

The PESB Panel has recommended the name of Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia for the post of Director (Planning & Projects) of NLC India Limited on Tuesday. Presently, he is serving as Executive Director (New and Renewable Business Group) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

Sisodia has been recommended for the post of Director (Planning & Projects) of NLC India Limited from a list of 12 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB Selection Panel in its selection meeting held on July 22. Out of 12 candidates.

NLC India Limited Signs MoU with IIT Madras for Carbon Capture Research

NLC India Limited (NLCIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Madras for joint research and development on Carbon Capture Systems (CCS). The agreement was signed at IIT Madras in Chennai in the presence of Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL; Dr. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras; and M. Venkatachalam, Director (Power) of NLCIL. This partnership underscores NLCIL’s commitment to promoting sustainable power generation, especially in the thermal sector. The collaboration aims to develop laboratory-scale carbon capture technologies with the possibility of scaling up to pilot projects at NLCIL’s thermal power plants.

NLC India Limited, as part of its CSR initiative, has established STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Labs in 17 government schools across Latehar District, Jharkhand, through its upcoming North Dhadu (Western Part) Coal Mine in Balumath Block.

Each lab features 80 working models demonstrating fundamental concepts in science and mathematics, providing students with hands-on learning experiences that complement their classroom education.

One such lab, at Indira Gandhi Memorial Girls High School, Balumath, was inaugurated on 22.04.2025 by Shri Soma Oraon, Block Development Officer, Balumath, in the presence of Shri Abhay B Bhagat, CGM & PH, NDWP. The initiative was well received by state authorities and school officials, who appreciated NLCIL’s commitment to nurturing young talent, even during the early stages of project development.

NLC forms JV to set up 1000 MW solar power projects in Assam

NLC India Ltd announced a joint venture agreement with Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) to develop 1000 MW of solar power projects in Assam. Under the arrangement, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), the renewables arm of NLC, will hold a 51% equity stake, while APDCL will possess 49%. NIRL will leverage its expertise in renewable energy project development, while APDCL will assist with land acquisition, regulatory approvals, and necessary power evacuation infrastructure.

The joint venture aims to secure energy for Assam and foster socio-economic growth by creating green jobs and enhancing the state’s sustainability index. Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) will be established with Assam DISCOMs for the sale of all generated power for a period of 25 years.

NLC signs MOU with Rajasthan for formation of JV for adding Thermal and Renewable capacity

NLC India Limited and the Government of Rajasthan have inked an MOU, with distinguished guests including Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and RK Singh. The pact involves a colossal investment exceeding Rs 7000 Crores for a 125 MW Lignite Pit-head Thermal Power Plant and a 1000 MW Solar Power Plant in Bikaner. Aligned with NLC India’s corporate plan, this move aims to reach a 17 GW capacity, with over 6 GW in renewables by 2030. Pralhad Joshi praised the visionary leadership and commitment of PM Narendra Modi and CM Bhajan Lal Sharma. The collaboration also includes MOUs with Coal India Ltd, NTPC, PGCIL, and REC for increased generation capacity, transmission systems, and financing, marking a steadfast stride toward sustainable energy infrastructure and the nation’s ambitious renewable energy targets.

NLCIL’s Giant Motors sent to pump out water from inundated areas in Chennai

To supplement the efforts of Chennai Corporation, yesterday NLC India Limited came forward to lend a helping hand by sending 16 giant high-capacity pumps which are used in NLC lignite Mines. Required NLCIL engineers along with technicians from all three NLCIL Mines have left for Chennai with high capacity giant motor pumps to help drain the water at the earliest in the waterlogged areas.
