NHPC Launches National Essay Writing Competition on Hydropower

NEW DELHI. NHPC Limited has launched a National Essay Writing Competition on the MyGov platform on the theme “Role of Hydro Power in Building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.” The competition invites participants to share their perspectives on the contribution of hydropower to India’s energy security, sustainable development, and nation-building. The top 30 winners will receive digital certificates and a special invitation from the Ministry of Defence to witness the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in New Delhi on August 15, 2026. Participants are encouraged to review the competition guidelines before submitting their entries.

NHPC Signs Agreement for India’s Largest Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh

DIBANG VALLEY. NHPC has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for the development of the 3,097 MW Etalin Hydroelectric Project in the Dibang Valley District. The agreement was formally executed by senior officials from both entities in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chowna Mein.

Upon its commissioning, the Etalin plant will become the largest hydroelectric project in India, playing a critical role in the nation’s clean energy transition, energy security, and sustainable development goals. NHPC CMD Shri Bhupender Gupta stated that the landmark project reflects a shared commitment to harnessing the state’s immense hydropower potential in a sustainable, environmentally responsible, and community-centric manner. The mega initiative is expected to drive extensive socio-economic growth in the region, bringing long-term livelihood and infrastructural development opportunities to local communities while strengthening clean energy infrastructure.

NHPC Opens GyanDhara Library to Boost Learning

FARIDABAD. BHUBANESHWAR. NHPC Limited recently inaugurated the GyanDhara Library at its residential complex in Faridabad. The special event was attended by the company’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Bhupendra Gupta, along with other senior directors and community members. During the opening ceremony, the leaders spoke about how books are lifelong companions that help people gain knowledge, think critically, and make better decisions in life.

The management team described the new library as the start of a meaningful journey toward education, strong values, and a brighter future for everyone in the community. PESB Recommends Paresh R. Ranpara as Director (Personnel) of NHPC

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Shri Paresh R. Ranpara for the post of Director (Personnel) at NHPC Limited. He is currently serving as Director (Human Resources) at Grid Controller of India Limited.

Shri Ranpara has wide experience in the power sector, especially in HR leadership roles at Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited and its group companies. During his career, he has led HR policies for more than 60,000 employees, managed HR transition during the unbundling of Gujarat Electricity Board, introduced performance management systems, handled manpower planning and restructuring, and worked on succession planning, leadership development, employee motivation, innovation, and reskilling initiatives to support the renewable energy transition.
