In the northern region, the existing Regional Directorate at Delhi has been bifurcated into RD (NR-I) at New Delhi, covering NCT of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and RD (NR-II) at Chandigarh, covering Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and the UTs of Chandigarh, Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir. Correspondingly, RoC Delhi has been split into three offices—two for different districts of NCT of Delhi and one new RoC at Chandigarh for Haryana. Additionally, a new RoC at Noida has been created by carving out 17 western districts of Uttar Pradesh from RoC Kanpur.

Similarly, the Western Region has been reorganized with RD (WR-I) at Mumbai for Mumbai districts, Goa and Daman & Diu, and RD (WR-II) at Navi Mumbai for the rest of Maharashtra. RoC Mumbai has been split into Mumbai-I and Mumbai-II, and a new RoC at Nagpur will cater to Vidarbha and parts of Marathwada. Further, a new South-Western Regional Directorate has been established at Bengaluru for Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep, while RoC Kolkata has been divided into two offices to separately handle Kolkata district with Sikkim and the rest of West Bengal.
