New Plate Mill bags Champions Trophy for FY 2024-25 in Rourkela Steel Plant

New Plate Mill of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) bagged the Champion of the Year trophy for the year 2024-25 while Sintering Plant – III was the runners up. The awards were presented by Mr. Alok Verma, DIC, RSP in the Annual performance Review and Award function held at Gopabandhu Auditorium on 1^st April.

The DIC also presented the Performance Awards to departments from four zones and Odisha Group of Mines in recognition of their exemplary performance and outstanding achievements for which the plant has completed the fiscal 2024-25 on a positive note.

From the Iron & Raw Material Zone, the Blast Furnaces was the winner while Raw Material Handling Plant and Coke Ovens jointly bagged the Runners up trophies.

Similarly from the Steel and Auxiliary Zone, Steel Melting Shop-II was the Winner while Power Distribution received the Runners up trophy.

From the Rolling Mill Zone, Hot Strip Mill-2 was the winner whereas Silicon Steel Mill bagged the Runners up award.

Similarly, from the Services Zone, Production Planning & Control was the winner while Safety Engineering Department and Materials Recovery Department were the joint Runners ups.

From Odisha Group of Mines Bolani Ore Mines was adjudged as the winner.

Bike Rally for Road Safety held at New Plate Mill of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant as a part of Road Safety Month Campaign

A bike rally for road safety was organized at the New Plate Mill (NPM) department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), as part of the 36th National Road Safety Month celebrations. The bike rally was flagged off by Mr. R K Bisare CGM (NPM & SPP), Mr. Rakesh Joshi, CGM (CO & CCD) and Mrs. Asha Kartha, CGM (S&FS) in the presence of Mr. Abakasa Behera, GM (Safety) and other senior officers of the plant. The event focused on promoting safe driving habits and adherence to traffic rules to ensure safety both inside and outside the plant.

Mr. R.K. Bisare highlighted the importance of road safety in reducing accidents and saving lives. Ms. Asha Kartha urged everyone to follow road safety rules in all daily routines diligently. Shri Rakesh Joshi emphasized the safe practices to be observed while driving on roads, underscoring the significance of vigilance and discipline.

The roadshow was flagged off from the NPM Mill entrance to MRD Square. Notably, the NPM Department has been organizing an array of programs to sensitize the employees as well as other stakeholders about road safety practices.

Mr. Suman Kumar, DSO NPM, coordinated the program, and Ms. Prangya Nath, ASO, proposed a vote of thanks.

‘Gaurav’ Display Gallery inaugurated at New Plate Mill of SAIL, RSP

A new chapter has been added in the New Plate Mill of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant with the putting up of new Display Gallery, ‘Gaurav’ on 27^th September 2024. The gallery was inaugurated by Mr. S R Suryawanshi, Executive Director (Works). Present on the occasion were Mr. R N Rajendran, CGM (Mechanical), Mr. R K Muduli, CGM (Electrical), Ms. Sunita Singh, CGM (PPC), Mr. Ravindra Kumar Bisare, CGM (NPM &SPP), Mr. A C Sarkar, CGM (RCL), Dr. P K Padhi, GM (Special Plate Plant), Mr. Y K Roy, GM (PM) and other Senior officers and employees of New Plate Mill.

Situated near the Mill Bay, adjacent to the first Rolled Plate Monument, the ‘Gaurav’ Gallery stands as a visual tribute to the achievements of the New Plate Mill. The display showcases the department’s range of products, their various applications, key end-users, and notable accomplishments, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the mill.

The gallery is intended to serve not only as a reflection of the department’s excellence but also as an inspiration for the workforce, underscoring the pride and legacy of the New Plate Mill at RSP.
