PM Modi to dedicate International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre complex, New Delhi to the nation on 26th July

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The project, which revamped the old and outdated facilities at Pragati Maidan, was developed as a National project at a cost of about 2700 crore rupees. With a campus area of approximately 123 acres, the IECC complex has been developed as India’s largest MICE – Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions – destination. The Complex finds its place among the top exhibition and convention complexes in the world, in terms of the covered space available for events. It comprises of multiple state-of-the-art facilities including Convention Centre, Exhibition halls, and amphitheaters.

The Convention Centre is developed as the centerpiece of Pragati Maidan complex. Its majestic multi-purpose hall and plenary hall have a combined capacity of seven thousand people, which is larger than the seating capacity of the famous Sydney Opera House in Australia. Its magnificent Amphitheater is equipped with a seating capacity of three thousand persons.

इस मानसून सत्र से राज्यसभा में होगा डिजिटल कामकाज, उपाध्यक्षों के पैनल में 50 फीसदी महिलाएं शामिल

नई दिल्ली। राज्यसभा के सभापति जगदीप धनखड़ ने ऐतिहासिक कदम उठाते हुए उपाध्यक्षों के पैनल में चार महिला सांसदों को नामित किया है। पैनल में नामांकित सभी महिला सदस्य पहली बार राज्यसभा की सदस्य बनीं हैं। एस. फांगनोन कोन्याक नगालैंड से राज्यसभा सदस्य निर्वाचित होनेवाली पहली महिला हैं।
मानसून सत्र से पहले पुनर्गठित पैनल में कुल आठ नाम हैं, जिनमें से आधी महिलाएं हैं। उच्च सदन के इतिहास में यह पहली बार है कि उपाध्यक्षों के पैनल में महिला सदस्यों को समान प्रतिनिधित्व दिया गया है। उपाध्यक्षों के पैनल में नामांकित महिला सदस्यों में पीटी उषा पद्मश्री पुरस्कार से सम्मानित और प्रसिद्ध एथलीट रहीं हैं। उन्हें जुलाई 2022 में राज्यसभा के लिए नामांकित किया गया था। वह रक्षा समिति, युवा मामले और खेल मंत्रालय की सलाहकार समिति और नैतिकता समिति की सदस्य हैं।
इसी प्रकार एस. फांगनोन कोन्याक नगालैंड से राज्यसभा सदस्य निर्वाचित होनेवाली पहली महिला और संसद या राज्य विधानसभा के किसी भी सदन के लिए चुनी जाने वाली राज्य की दूसरी महिला हैं। वह परिवहन, पर्यटन और संस्कृति समिति, उत्तर-पूर्वी क्षेत्र के विकास मंत्रालय की सलाहकार समिति की सदस्य हैं। महिला सशक्तिकरण समिति, हाउस कमेटी और उत्तर-पूर्वी इंदिरा गांधी क्षेत्रीय स्वास्थ्य और चिकित्सा विज्ञान संस्थान, शिलांग की गवर्निंग काउंसिल की सदस्य हैं। वहीं,
डॉ. फौजिया खान राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी से हैं। वह अप्रैल 2020 में राज्यसभा के लिए चुनी गईं थीं। वह महिला सशक्तिकरण समिति, उपभोक्ता मामले, खाद्य और सार्वजनिक वितरण समिति, कानून और न्याय मंत्रालय की सलाहकार समिति की सदस्य हैं। इसी प्रकार सुलता देव जुलाई 2022 में बीजू जनता दल से राज्यसभा के लिए चुनी गईं। वे उद्योग समिति, महिला सशक्तिकरण समिति, लाभ के पद संबंधी संयुक्त समिति, संसद सदस्य स्थानीय क्षेत्र विकास योजना समिति और महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय की सलाहकार समिति की सदस्य हैं। इन महिला सदस्यों के अलावा वी. विजयसाई रेड्डी, घनश्याम तिवारी, डॉ. एल. हनुमंथैया और सुखेंदु शेखर रे को भी उपाध्यक्षों के पैनल में शामिल किया गया है।
आपको बता दें कि इस मानसून सत्र से राज्यसभा में कामकाज पूरी तरह से डिजिटल तरीके से होगा। राज्यसभा के सभापति अब सदन में उपस्थिति, बोलने वाले सदस्यों के विवरण और अन्य प्रासंगिक जानकारी से संबंधित मामलों के लिए इलेक्ट्रॉनिक टैबलेट का उपयोग करेंगे।

100 Private Trains will be allowed

An indicative list of over 100 origin-destination pairs for operation of passenger train services by the private entities, under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, has been uploaded on the websites of NITI Aayog and Indian Railways, along with the draft Request for Qualification and draft Concession Agreement, for seeking comments from stake holders.

Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is operating Tejas Express train on the New Delhi-Lucknow sector w.e.f. 04.10.2019. During the period 04.10.2019 to 31.10.2019, IRCTC has earned an approximate amount of ₹ 7.73 lakh, as operational earning, by operation of the said Tejas Express.

Indian Railways offers various kinds of train services to cater to the need of a diverse set of passengers. Trains like Gatimaan Express, Vande Bharat Express, etc. are provided with augmented facilities and are popular among the premium segment. Trains like Rajdhani Express, Duronto Express, Shatabdi Express etc. offer fully reserved accommodation and facilitate the long distance and inter-city passengers.

Further, other Mail Express trains and Antyodaya train are operated for the benefit of general passengers including those travelling on unreserved tickets. The fare of Sleeper and Second Class is highly subsidised and as a part of its Social Service Obligation, fare concessions are offered to various categories like Senior citizens, freedom fighters, Students, Divyangjans etc. even in the reserved classes.

Consequently, on an average, Indian Railways recovers only 57% of cost of travel. The scope and scale of trains operated over Indian Railways, which carries about 23 million passengers on a daily basis cannot currently be compared with the New Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express being operated by IRCTC, in which fare is generally higher as compared to similar services on Indian Railways and no concession is admissible. However, systemic improvements over Indian Railways is a continuous and an ongoing process.
