India dispatched its initial consignment of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief supplies to Nepal on Wednesday evening, following severe flash floods along the country’s border with Tibet that claimed at least 95 lives and caused extensive damage. The rapid deployment came shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah to express deep solidarity and offer complete support for ongoing relief operations. In a message shared on social media, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to standing by its neighbor during the crisis, highlighting that teams from both nations are closely collaborating to coordinate rescue efforts on the ground.

The emergency airlift, executed by an Indian Air Force C-130J transport aircraft, departed from Hindon Air Force Station near Delhi around 8:35 PM carrying 10 tonnes of essential supplies. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed that the cargo included vital items such as temporary shelter material, blankets, medical kits, solar lamps, and critical medicines. Defense officials indicated that further relief tranches will be delivered using additional C-17 and C-130 aircraft, alongside earmarked IAF helicopters to support rescue and evacuation tasks across the affected border regions.
