The Houselisting and Housing Census phase introduces digital data capture and a self-enumeration facility, enabling citizens to submit details online. Over 55,000 households registered on the very first day. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the process, with the Prime Minister urging citizens to actively take part in this important national exercise.

The initiative is expected to enhance accuracy, transparency and convenience, while reducing manual effort through secure, multilingual digital systems. The data collected will play a crucial role in policy planning, infrastructure development and welfare programmes over the next decade.
