Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan and his actor-son Abhishek are recuperating in an isolation ward in the same hospital. On Saturday, Amitabh Bachchan tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati hospital with mild symptoms.

The actor took to Twitter to share the news with his fans. He wrote, “I have tested CoviD positive .. shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested!”

Earlier, informing everyone about Aishwarya and Aaradhya being coronavirus positive, Abhishek Bachchan had tweeted, “Aishwarya and Aaradhya have also tested COVID-19 positive. They will be self quarantining at home. The BMC has been updated of their situation and are doing the needful.The rest of the family including my Mother have tested negative. Thank you all for your wishes and prayers”.

Amitabh also shared a note for healthcare workers on his social media handles on Tuesday. The actor tweeted: “Pristine white their layered dress, dedicated to serve they be, god like incarnations they, companions of the sufferer they, erased they their ego have, to us they have embraced in care, they be the divine destination, they fly the flags of humanity.” Amitabh Bachchan along with his actor son Abhishek Bachchan, tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday and they were hospitalised. Meanwhile Amitabh Bachchan has been reported to be stable with mild symptoms. He is currently admitted in the isolation unit according to the Public Relation Officer, Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai.
Meanwhile sr actress Rekha banglow also sealed by BMC officials after one security guard tested covid positive. Rekha will also get covid test . Rekha lives in bandra while sr bachchan lives in juhu. Sources says both are separate cases .

Both Amitabh Bachchan, 77, and his son Abhishek, 44, were admitted to Nanavati hospital on Saturday after testing positive for Covid-19. They have undergone rapid antigen testing, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said on Saturday.

“Both Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan underwent Antigen test and they have tested positive for COVID-19. Other family members including Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were also tested and their results will come tomorrow (Sunday),” he said.

“As Bachchan ji has specifically said in his tweet that all people who came in contact with him past five to seven days should get tested and quarantine themselves. I pray to god that Amitabh Bachchan Ji recovers from this soon,” he added.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri wished the actor a speedy recovery.

Many fans took to Twitter as well expressing concern and wishing a rapid recovery for both Bachchans.

Earlier in the day, there were reports that Amitabh had been unwell and had been admitted to hospital for treatment. The actor was rushed to a hospital at 2 am owing to a liver problem. He has reportedly been kept in a special room, similar to an ICU. No one, apart from his immediate family, is allowed to meet him.

Amitabh has had a long-standing struggle against his liver problem after he accidentally contracted Hepatitis B after his accident during the shoot of Coolie. Over time, he lost 75% of his liver to cirrhosis.

Speaking about it, he said “Hepatitis B came to me accidentally. After my accident on the sets of Coolie, I was infused with the blood of about 200 donors and 60 bottles of blood were injected into my system. The Australian antigen Hepatitis B had only been detected three months ago and it was very new for being detected also among various tests needed to be carried out before giving blood to another patient. One of my blood donors was carrying Hepatitis B virus which went into my system. I continued to work normally till year 2000. Almost 18 years after the accident, during a very normal medical checkup, I was told that my liver was infected and I had lost 75% of my liver. So, if I am standing here today, you are looking at a person who is surviving with 25%of liver. That is the bad part. The good part is you can survive even with 12%. But no one wants to get to that stage.”
