In his address Mr. Verma urged participants to break free from mundane routines and take meaningful steps for their own growth and for the betterment of society. Highlighting the need to “get up and start moving,” he encouraged them to talk, discuss, and collaboratively find solutions to challenges they face. He also mentioned that all the Blast Furnaces of RSP are named after Goddesses already representing and acknowledging feminine power and strength.

All the Executive Directors also appreciated the efforts of female executives in RSP and mentioned that women are leaders by birth. They just need to grab the right opportunity and education to establish them as the leaders at the workplace.

All the participants shared their experiences and learning from the workshop. At the outset, Mr. P K Sahoo, CGM (HR-L&D) welcomed the gathering. Ms Binita Tirkey, Senior Manager (L&D) coordinated the function.

During the two-day session, Ms. Kavitha explored various dimensions of leadership, such as awakening inner strengths, stepping beyond comfort zones to embrace leadership roles, influencing others, negotiating with a gender perspective, and understanding the difference between assertiveness and aggressiveness. Through engaging anecdotes, interactive activities, and role plays, she encouraged women to pursue leadership with passion, while embodying the values of Credibility, Reliability, Empathy, and Decisiveness.

Speaking further Mr. Verma said, “Safety should be our foremost priority and we have to ensure that every employee that comes to the plant goes home safely.” Mr. Verma also underscored the importance of taking small steps for achieving success. “Devise a roadmap and take a small step everyday towards your goal in order to bring transformational change in your life, plant’s productivity, and also towards safety” he added. The Director In- Charge reflected upon the growth of steel sector in the upcoming days and motivated the young workforce to give their best in the plant.

Mr. A K Behuria gave a detailed presentation on the ‘Present Steel Scenario and Way Forward’. In his presentation, he outlined the financial performances of all SAIL units and gave a detailed analysis of cost distribution. Through his presentation, he also motivated the RSP collective to be self driven and be cost champions in their own area so as to improve the financial conditions of RSP.

Earlier, the session commenced with the rendition of the National Anthem. This was followed by showcasing a film made by Public Relations Department comprising motivational video as well as the performance of RSP in current fiscal in various endeavours, targets, achievements and new facilities in the township. Later, during the interaction session, employees gave suggestions pertaining to production, productivity, maintenance and safety issues. Happy with the quality of suggestion given during the interaction, the DIC announced an instant ‘Best Suggestor’ award for three employees including an executive.

Over his 32-year long tenure at Bokaro, Mr. Verma played a crucial role in the timely completion of projects in Rolling mills in 1997, 2007, 2015 & 2023. A certified six sigma black belt, he accomplished many key assignments other than operations of the Mills. These include ERP implementation, six sigma certification, patenting of technical design of hot rolling coiling operations and invention of three new products. These contributions significantly enhanced the product quality, production volume, and operational efficiency of the Rolling Mills.

A widely traveled technocrat, he has visited countries across the globe including Germany, France, Italy, Austria, and China, thereby gaining valuable insights into steel manufacturing technology.

Action plans with assigned responsibilities and timelines were presented by the six teams formed to discuss various issues. Some of the key findings and suggestions for improvements were, establishment of testing  laboratory  of Iron Ore at Barsua valley loading point for quality improvement of raw materials in Mine, installation of CBM system for HT motors at Bolani Ores Mines for better monitoring and optimal utilization, implementation of Double Screen as a cost control and manpower optimization measure, improvement of communication system and techno-economic parameters and modernization of the plant for smooth operation and dispatch.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Verma urged the participants to adhere to the action plan and time line to get good quality raw materials for boosting productivity and efficiency in iron making.

At the outset Ms. Subhasmita Das, AGM (Central Coordination Mines) welcomed the gathering and anchored the event. The programme was jointly coordinated by L & D Department and Mines.
