T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar has also confirmed the script for Raid 2 is currently being developed. Co-producer Shushan told the daily, “It will be a huge multi-film franchise and Ajay ji and I, along with Kumar Mangat ji, are looking to take Raid forward. The script of Part 2 is being developed. Since the original was a much loved film, the sequel is a huge responsibility. After the super success of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, there’s a lot of pressure on this collaboration to live up to the expectation.”

Raid starred Ileana D’Cruz as Ajay’s onscreen wife while Saurabh Shukla played the role of a corrupt politician referred as Tauji. The film was appreciated by the critics. It was based on the longest raid in the 80s with Ajay playing the central role.

Meanwhile, Ajay is basking in the success of his 100th film, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The actor had co-produced the film which also featured Kajol as his onscreen wife Savitribai Malusare and had Saif Ali Khan in the role of the lead antagonist, Uday Bhan. The film went on to become the year’s biggest blockbuster with collection of Rs 279 crore at the domestic box office.

Ajay has a big lineup of films in the next two years. He will be seen in Bhuj: The Pride of India, Indra Kumar’s Thank God, Kaithi remake and Neeraj Pandey’s Chanakya.

Good Newwz is a screwball comedy about two couples who experience a mix-up at a fertility clinic, after their sperm is exchanged. While Akshay and Kareena play the sophisticated Batras, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh play the louder Batras.

The film has made Rs 190 crore in India, after 18 days of release. It marked Akshay Kumar’s fourth film of the year to hit the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, following Kesari, Mission Mangal and Housefull 4. The actor will next be seen in the action thriller Sooryavanshi, which is the latest instalment in director Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, whose previous instalments include the two Singham films and Simmba. After that, Akshay will appear in the horror comedy Laxxmi Bomb and then in Prithviraj.

Good Newwz received positive reviews from critics as well, who praised the mix of humour and emotions. Thanking fans for the positive reception, Akshay said in a statement, “We are extremely overwhelmed with the response coming in for Good Newwz as it’s a subject which had to be shared with the audience. It’s an important subject and I thank the viewers not only in India but also overseas that they have accepted us with open hearts. The Actor attended meeting had been organised by the JNU students’ union and the teachers’ association against the attack on students by masked men and women armed with lathis and iron rods on Sunday which resulted in more than twenty people getting injured and hospitalised.

Deepika, however, did not address the crowd. She stood by as former JNUSU president, Kanhaiya Kumar raised slogans and left just as current President Aishe Ghosh, who too was injured in the attack, began to speak.

The script of a film should move him as an actor, feels Farhan. “Putting this level of effort is only possible, if the story motivates you to give your best. At the end of the day, we’re not making a film to showcase a great physique, but to emotionally engage the audience with the journey of the character. To make that experience believable, all efforts are worth it,” he says.

Farhan has worked hard to ace the look of a professional boxer. However, he has also essayed the role of another sportsperson, sprinter Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013). So, how was the prepping different this time? “Running and boxing are two extremely different disciplines that bring their own set of challenges,” he explains.

The actor always sports a unique look in each of his films — be it Rock On (2008), Luck by Chance (2009), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), Lucknow Central (2017) or last year’s The Sky is Pink. And now even the audience has begun to expect that from him. “It’s strange, but as an actor, you want the audience to have expectations from you, and yet one must try and find a way to surprise them. I feel grateful for all the love and support that I’ve received over the years. It gives me the courage and confidence to follow my heart,” he shares.

Going by his filmography, Farhan has clearly managed to maintain a variety. When asked if it is by plan or luck, the actor says, “The kind of stories you are drawn towards are the stories that somehow find their way to you. There is some kind of serendipity in how this happens.”

Toofan is Farhan’s second collaboration with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra after the hit sports biopic, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013). “Toofan is a story that will move and motivate all of us. It’s so much fun to collaborate with Farhan yet again. He does not act the part, but becomes one. I can’t wait to share the film with the audience,” says Mehra.

Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor’s new film Good Newwz wrapped 2019 on a good note and began the New Year on an even better one. In six days, the comedy has soared past the Rs 100 crore mark, scoring Rs 117 at the box office, said trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

On the New Year holiday on Wednesday, Good Newwz raked in as much as Rs 22 crore, pushing the total to an impressive figure. Abhinav Kashyap directorial Dabangg released in 2010.  While the second installment of the franchise was helmed by Arbaaz Khan, Prabhudheva has taken on the mantle of director for the third part.

Talking about joining the cast of Dabangg 3, Sudeep told, “The feeling of having worked with Salman and Prabhu sir is greater than anything for me. Salman is one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry today. These are not things that I expected to happen. So, when the film happened to me, I accepted it wholeheartedly and enjoyed it thoroughly. I lived every moment. I didn’t come here with any kind of expectation, but I have carried back home a lot of memories and good moments. It is great that I can now say these are the people I have worked with, and I have been part of such a big franchise. It has been a great opportunity for me.”

Trade analyst Girish Johar predicted the opening day collection of Dabangg 3. He told us, “It is an established franchise, and people always look forward to it. The makers have already started working on Dabangg 4 which shows their confidence. I peg the film at around Rs 27-30 crore and depending upon how the audience find the film, numbers will change by the evening shows. If it is accepted well, it will have a healthy weekend.”
