										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>NEW DELHI. </strong> Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and GIZ, Germany organised an outreach workshop on Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), a global initiative for industry decarbonisation.</p>
<p>Atul Sobti DG, SCOPE; Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML and Member, SCOPE Executive Board; Tajender Gupta, Director (Power), BHEL; Ruchika Drall, Deputy Secretary (Climate Change), MoEFCC;  Cecilia Tall, Counsellor, Innovation &amp; Science, Sweden Embassy in India; Sebastian Borchmeyer, First Secretary, German Embassy in India; and Dr Alexander Fisher, Project Lead, International Climate Initiative (IKI) , GIZ addressed the participants.</p>
<p>The event also brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, and international representatives from Sweden and Germany to deliberate on utilising the platform of LeadIT to forge international collaborations, engage in innovation and understand possible financial arrangements to encourage transition of heavy-industry sector to a low emitting sector. The workshop was participated by over 40 participants from nearly 20 organisations including public and private sector.<br />
The Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) launched at the UN Climate Action Summit in 2019, is supported by the World Economic Forum and aims to create synergy amongst countries and companies to achieve net-zero carbon emissions from heavy industry by 2050.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Coal Ministry conducted a workshop on Environmental and Forest Clearances for coal mining in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&amp;CC). Attended by over 175 officials, including representatives from Coal, MoEFCC, Coal India Ltd, SECL, BCCL, ECL, NLCIL, SCCL, NTPC, Coal Controller Organisation, private coal companies, and other experts from the coal mining sectors. The event featured key speakers like Secretary,  Coal,Shri Amrit Lal Meena and Additional Secretary &amp; Nominated Authority, Ministry of Coal, Shri M. Nagaraju. Discussions focused on balancing economic benefits with environmental protection. The workshop included presentations on regulatory frameworks, compliance strategies, and best practices for obtaining clearances, along with an interactive Q&amp;A session addressing industry challenges.</p>
<p>Shri Amrit Lal Meena, in his keynote address, underscored the coal ministry’s commitment to sustainability. He highlighted efforts on land restoration and extensive afforestation programs that surpass the areas used for mining activities. In his opening remark, Shri M. Nagaraju emphasized the vital balance between economic benefits and environmental protection and stressed the need for securing clearances to ensure environmental sustainabilityThe coal companies presented videos on the best practices by their respective organizations in the inaugural session.</p>
<p>Speakers from the ministry of environment, forest and climate change shared their comprehensive insights into the regulatory framework, procedural requirements, policy updates, compliance strategies and best practices for obtaining environmental and forest clearance for coal mining projects featuring a series of informative sessions, and interactive discussions.</p>
