Also there will be some restriction on passengers coming from other states. Meanwhile Nationalist Congress Party MLA Bharat Bhalke died on Saturday in Pune while undergoing treatment for post-COVID complications.

“The directions and guidelines issued on September 30 and October 14 to operationalise ‘Mission Begin Again’ for easing of restrictions and phase-wise opening will remain in force till December 31 for containment of COVID-19,” the order stated.

the state on Friday recorded 6,185 new COVID-19 cases, 4,089 recoveries, and 85 deaths. The total tally in the state at present is 18,08,550.

In the wake of the unlock guidelines issued by the Centre, the state had in the last couple of months, eased several lockdown restrictions.

The state government said that the revised guidelines have been issued from time to time by allowing resumption of various activities as part of the “Mission Begin Again”.

Earlier this week, the government allowed reopening of places of worship. Schools for students from Class 9 to 12 have also reopened in some parts of the state this week but in Mumbai BMC put restriction on school opening till 31st December . Hotels and bars have been already allowed to reopen.

Meanwhile Nationalist Congress Party MLA Bharat Bhalke died on Saturday in Pune while undergoing treatment for post-COVID complications. Bhalke was a three-term MLA from Pandharpur- Mangalvedha constituency in Solapur district. the NCP leader had tested COVID- 19 positive on October 30 and had been discharged after recovery.

Bhalke had defeated five-time MLA Sudhakar Paricharak in 2014 Assembly polls. Incidentally, Paricharak died due to post-COVID complications three months ago.

The Bahujan Samaj Party has moved the Rajasthan High Court to seek the disqualification of six MLAs who had merged with the Congress last year as Mayawati has opened a new front against the Ashok Gehlot government in the state.

The petition, filed by general secretary SC Mishra, refutes the merger and claims the MLAs incur disqualification for voluntarily giving up their membership.

It comes a day after the party’s central leadership had on Sunday caused a new twist in the Rajasthan deadlock and issued a whip to the six MLAs to vote against the Gehlot government in any proceedings of the house, including in case of a no confidence motion.

Gehlot has been struggling to keep his government afloat after a rebellion by Sachin Pilot and MLAs loyal to him, and Mayawati’s new ploy could be just enough to tip the scales against the Congress in the state.

According to sources, Gehlot has been claiming the support of 103 MLAs in the 200-member assembly, but if the six MLAs are forced to vote against him, it could bring his government into a minority.

All the six BSP MLAs had last year merged with the Congress, which could lead to a tangle of technicalities as there are no BSP MLAs in the Rajasthan assembly.

Meanwhile Governor Kalraj Mishra today returned with queries the proposal of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for the assembly session from Friday. This was a revised proposal sent to the Governor but it also did not cut ice with him. The Congress has accused the governor of acting under pressure from the BJP to stall a test of strength in the assembly. The Supreme Court is all set to hear at 11am today a petition filed by Rajasthan Speaker CP Joshi against the rebel MLAs led by now-sacked deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot who engineered a revolt against the Gehlot government. The court on Thursday had refused to restrain the Rajasthan High Court from passing an order on the plea of the rebel MLAs challenging the disqualification notice against them and said it would be subject to the outcome of petition before the apex court.

Observing that the “voice of dissent” in a democracy cannot be shut down, the Supreme Court had refused to accept the plea of Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi to either stay the matter pending before the high court or transfer it to the apex court.

Congress has issued a notice to ex deputy CM Sachin Pilot and 18 other party members for not attending the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meetings. State party in charge Avinash Pandey said that Pilot and the party members have two days to respond after which the party would consider withdrawing their membership from the CLP.

Pilot, along with his camp of supporting lawmakers, skipped the Congress legislature meetings in Jaipur on Monday and on Tuesday that recommended action against him and sought to discuss his political fallout with chief minister Ashok Gehlot.

Notice issued to Sachin Pilot&18 other party members, for not attending Congress Legislative Party meetings. If they don’t respond within 2 days, then it will be considered that they are withdrawing their membership from CLP: Rajasthan Congress in-charge Avinash Pande.

Meanwhile Sachin clarified that he is not joining BJP and still in congress shows he want to avoid disqualification under anti defection law .

The truth can be harassed but not defeated,” Sachin Pilot reacted in a tweet. Later, he added: “My heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all those who have come out in my support today. Ram Ram Sa!” His supporters said the “public humiliation” of their leader was “totally unacceptable” to them and those who treated him badly should be punished.

Before Sachin Pilot’s rebellion, the Congress had 107 MLAs besides the support of 13 independents and five members from smaller parties. That number has now come down to 90 Congress MLAs, seven independent members and three from smaller parties – 100. Sachin Pilot has at least 20 MLAs on his side – 17 Congress and three independent legislators.

Mr Gehlot is banking on Sachin Pilot and other rebels being disqualified, which will bring down the half-way mark and fortify his numbers if he has to face a test of strength.

The Congress made several attempt to reach out to Mr Pilot and many leaders said how things went down was “sad”. Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala had said: “Doors are open for Sachin Pilot and other MLAs. They will be heard and solutions found. This is the discipline of the party,”

Three MANIPUR BJP legislators resigned to join the state Congress Wednesday evening. Sources said the party leaders will stake claim to form the government and meet Manipur governor on June 18 to insist they have the numbers.

Four legislators from the National People’s Party (NPP) including three ministers – Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh, deputy chief minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh, YAS minister Letpao Haokip and tribal affairs minister N Kayisii also withdrew support to the BJP-led government. The lone independent MLA from Jiribam and Trinamool Congress MLA have also expressed support to the Congress.

The divisions in BJP were prominently on display since October last year when Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Public works minister Th Biswajit Singh and team landed in New Delhi separately to meet senior party leaders to sort out differences.

For the Congress, the rivalries within the BJP had signalled good things to come, a roadmap for which was carefully worked out when the rest of the state was in coronavirus lockdown.

“The beginning of downfall of BJP rule in India happens today in Imphal, Manipur. Very soon, there will be people’s true government which is the new Congress-led coalition government in Manipur,” said Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, Manipur Congress Spokesperson.

“I am confident that three-time Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh will become the new CM of Manipur. Today marks the dusk of Modi regime in India for 2024. Today is the new beginning of India. Today is the new sunrise for Manipur,” Meitei added.

Former deputy chief minister Y Joykumar Singh officially announced his resignation citing disrespectful treatment to legislators, and in view of the assembly elections in 2022.

“Everyone is aware of the political development in the last few months in Manipur – with respect to this BJP-led government and the kind of treatment we received, including myself. We had deliberated in detail about what will be the best course of action for the party, keeping in mind the Assembly election to be held in early 2022. Therefore, today we decided to withdraw our support to the BJP-led government,” said Singh.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) said on Tuesday it was postponing the Rajya Sabha polls scheduled for March 26 in the wake of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak to “prevent a health hazard”.

Elections were to be held for 18 Upper House across seven assemblies — Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya and Gujarat — in the latest round of indirect elections for the 245-member council of states. Of the 55 seats that feel vacant, 37 members were elected unopposed.
The decision was taken at a meeting attended by election commissioners Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra.

“The situation because of Covid-19 mandates that we shouldn’t put MLAs in a congregation. The decision has been taken independently by the commission and will be up for review once the situation improves,” said a senior EC official who asked not to be named.

“We have decided to defer the polls as the situation is not conducive for them,” a second senior EC official told Hindustan Times. “We will review the decision after March 31,” he added.

The first official said that this round of elections will be conducted separately from the next round of Rajya Sabha polls due in June. “The two will not be clubbed together,” he said.

In a press release issued by ECI, it said the decision was being taken in view of the health risks posed by Covid-19.

“Commission has reviewed in detail the matter. The prevailing unforeseen situation of public health emergency indicates the need for avoidance of possibilities of gatherings of any nature, which expose all concerned to possible health hazard,” the release said.

“The poll process in the above said elections would necessarily include the gathering of polling officials, agents of political parties, support officials and members of respective Legislative Assemblies on the poll day, which may not be suitable in view of the prevailing unforeseen situation and related advisories in the country,” it added.

The Commission has invoked Article 153 of the Representation of People’s Act, 1951, under which the commission “for reasons which it considers sufficient, may extend the time for the completion of any election by making necessary amendments”. In accordance with its provisions, EC has “deferred the poll and extended the period of said election under the provisions of Section 153 of the Act”.

BJP’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan was sworn in as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh today, days after the Congress government of Kamal Nath fell after losing its majority.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan took oath for the fourth time as Chief Minister.

Kamal Nath resigned on Thursday just before the Supreme Court’s deadline to prove his majority in a trust vote.

The Congress lost its majority after 22 MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia took a flight to Bengaluru and resigned

The MLAs joined BJP yesterday, tweeted Mr Scindia, who quit his party of 18 years and joined the BJP last week.

The Congress tried to reach out to the rebel MLAs but failed to win any of them back. Rejecting their appeal for more time, the Supreme Court said the uncertainty in Madhya Pradesh must end and ordered a test of strength last Thursday.

Kamal Nath, who came to power in December 2018, resigned before the deadline, knowing it would be impossible for him to make up the numbers needed to stay in power.

Announcing his resignation on Friday, Madhya Pradesh chief minister KAMAL NATH said he will continue to fight aginst BJP.

After weeks of political drama in Madhya Pradesh which went from senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia joining the BJP, the Grand Old Party’s government in the state has collapsed.

Kamal Nath listed out the several projects done under the Congress administration. He followed it up with,”The BJP could not tolerate this”.

Nath further said that Indians can see the truth behind the incident where MLAs are being held hostage in Bengaluru. “The truth will come out. People will not forgive them,” he said.

Kamal Nath alleged the BJP had continuously plotted against the Congress government. “Every 15 days, a BJP leader would make a remark, saying this government is here only for a few months and won’t last long.

They also held hostage our 22 MLAs in Karnataka. They have spent crores of rupees by luring our 22 MLAs to the BJP camp. The BJP has planned this to kill democracy. The people of Madhya Pradesh will never forgive them,” he said.

Accusing the BJP of not being able to handle the work done by the Congress administration in Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath said, “I had been given five years to develop the state, five years to make Madhya Pradesh to be counted among one of the big states.”

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Sharad Kumar resigned on Friday hours ahead of the impending floor-test in Madhya Pradesh. The Speaker of the Assembly, NP Prajapati, accepted the BJP MLAs resignation this morning.
