NEW DELHI. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare successfully conducted the Pan-India CPR Awareness Week from October 13 to 17, engaging over 7.47 lakh citizens and providing hands-on training to more than 6.06 lakh participants nationwide. The initiative focused on promoting Compression-only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to enhance community preparedness and bystander response during cardiac emergencies. Activities included live CPR demonstrations, panel discussions, digital quizzes, and nationwide training sessions organized by state health departments, AIIMS, central hospitals, and other institutions. Special sessions were also held for officials at Nirman Bhawan and the Prime Minister’s Office.

Digital outreach formed a significant part of the campaign, with over 36,000 participants taking part in online CPR quizzes and nearly 80,000 citizens pledging their commitment through the MyGov platform. The week saw active participation from youth volunteers under the Volunteer for Bharat initiative and widespread media coverage by Doordarshan and DD News. Through this large-scale engagement and awareness drive, the Ministry aims to build a culture of timely intervention and save more lives during medical emergencies across India.
