Atal Pension Yojana Crosses Milestone Of Over Nine Crore Gross Enrollments

NEW DELHI. The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing total gross enrollments of nine crore subscribers till yesterday. The Ministry of Finance said that gross enrollments during the last financial year have crossed over one crore thirty five lakh subscribers, marking the highest-ever enrollments recorded in a single financial year since the inception of the scheme.

The Atal Pension Yojana was launched in the year 2015, with the vision of establishing a universal social security system for all Indians. The scheme is a voluntary, contributory pension scheme primarily focused on the poor, the underprivileged, and workers in the unorganized sector.

Government Notifies Baggage Rules, 2026 to Simplify Customs Procedures

NEW DELHI. The Government has notified the Baggage Rules, 2026 and issued the new Customs Baggage (Declaration and Processing) Regulations, 2026 along with a Master Circular for passengers travelling to and from India, aimed at making airport customs procedures easier, faster and more transparent. According to the Ministry of Finance, the new framework reduces paperwork, enables electronic and advance filing of baggage declarations, and speeds up clearance at airports, while also providing enhanced general free allowance, transfer of residence benefits and special jewellery allowances, and permitting one laptop to be imported duty-free by passengers above 18 years of age. The rules further introduce simplified provisions for temporary imports and re-imports of personal items taken abroad and brought back, allow duty-free import of pets subject to prescribed conditions, and reflect the Government’s facilitative approach in line with evolving economic conditions, rising international travel and passenger expectations.

The rating was conferred by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Finance, in recognition of HUDCO’s strong operational and financial performance in line with government guidelines. HUDCO achieved an impressive score of 97.90 out of 100, reflecting its consistent efficiency and strategic execution.
