Pawan Hans Limited (PHL), India’s premier helicopter services company and a Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, today announced that Shri Sunil Kumar Nagdawne has assumed charge as its CMD with effect from 3 July 2026. Shri Nagdawne brings with him over three decades of distinguished leadership experience spanning aviation, energy, infrastructure management, operational excellence and stakeholder engagement.

Prior to joining Pawan Hans, he served as General Manager (Aviation), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), where he led critical aviation fuel operations, airport infrastructure initiatives and strategic business development activities supporting both civil and defence aviation sectors.

Civil Aviation Ministry Completes First Phase Of Char Dham Helicopter Operations

NEW DELHI. The first phase of helicopter operations for the Char Dham Yatra has concluded. The Ministry of Civil Aviation said that during this period, around 400 helicopter movements were conducted daily.

The Ministry added that over 12,000 shuttle departures facilitated the travel of more than 67,000 pilgrims. It also informed that over 2,000 charter operations served more than 11,000 pilgrims, providing safe, reliable and efficient connectivity across the Char Dham sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has accorded special priority to ensuring that every devotee undertaking the Char Dham Yatra can travel with greater ease, convenience and safety.(AIR)

Digi Yatra has achieved a major milestone by enabling over 10 crore seamless journeys across Indian airports, prompting Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to congratulate the Digi Yatra team for driving paperless, contactless and hassle-free travel. The Minister said the achievement reflects growing passenger trust in digital aviation services and comes amid a sharp rise in air travel, with daily domestic passenger traffic increasing from below two lakh in 2014 to over five lakh on several occasions in recent years. He noted that annual passenger traffic is expected to reach 50 crore by 2030 and nearly 100 crore by 2040, supported by digital solutions such as Digi Yatra, self-baggage drop facilities, AI-powered digital twins and improved grievance redressal systems. Currently operational at 38 airports, Digi Yatra will be expanded to 27 more airports next year.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the platform has recorded over 2.4 crore downloads and reduced average airport entry processing time from 15 seconds to just 5 seconds per passenger. By eliminating manual document verification and reducing paper usage through digital boarding processes, Digi Yatra has emerged as one of the most successful digital innovations in global aviation while also contributing to environmental sustainability.

AAI Partners with ACI to Train Over 115 Airport Professionals Under Global Accreditation Programme

The Airports Authority of India has signed an agreement with Airports Council International to implement the Airports Management Professional Accreditation Program in India, aimed at strengthening leadership and governance in the aviation sector. AAI said the collaboration reflects India’s commitment to global standards in airport management and marks an important step in building institutional capacity as the country’s aviation sector expands rapidly.

Under the agreement, AAI will facilitate AMPAP training for more than 115 airport professionals over the next five years. On successful completion of the programme, participants will earn the internationally recognised International Aviation Professional designation. Globally, over 1,400 professionals from 120 countries have received this accreditation, with 173 already from India, positioning the country as an emerging contributor to global aviation leadership.

The agreement was formally exchanged between AAI Chairman Vipin Kumar and Gurjit Gill, Director (Global), Airports Council International and ICAO, in the presence of Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and senior officials during Wings India 2026 at Begumpet Airport on January 29. AAI said the initiative, driven by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, will equip professionals with advanced skills in airport economics, sustainability, safety, resilience, innovation, and strategic leadership, supporting the transformation of India’s aviation ecosystem.

Ministry of Civil Aviation Reviews Passenger Facilitation at Kolkata and Guwahati Airports

Passengers confirmed receiving timely updates on flight cancellations, with no congestion observed across terminals, and the baggage backlog reported to be almost fully cleared. The review noted strong coordination among AAI, CISF, the airport operator and airline teams, which has helped stabilise operations. Further improvements were advised in call centre responsiveness and faster grievance redressal, particularly for refund-related issues.

The ministry official also reviewed service readiness at Guwahati Airport to ensure smooth facilitation for travellers. All operational zones, including check-in, security and boarding, remained congestion-free, with airport teams proactively assisting passengers and responding swiftly to queries. Normal operations continue to remain stable under constant monitoring.

Over 5.86 Lakh PNRs Cancelled And Refunded: Aviation Ministry

NEW DELHI – The Ministry of Civil Aviation has informed that over 5 lakh 86 thousand 7 hundred passenger name records-PNRs were cancelled and refunded between 1st and 7th December, amounting to more than 569 crore rupees in refunds. The Ministry also said that 4 thousand 500 bags were delivered to customers out of a total of 9 thousand bags, and the remaining bags will be delivered in the next 36 hours. According to the Ministry, IndiGo airline plans to operate more than one thousand eight hundred flights to 137 out of 138 destinations, with five hundred cancellations.
