RITES Ltd signs MoU with CMPDI to tap into Mining and Renewable infra development

Railway PSU and a transport infrastructure consultant, RITES Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDI), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), to establish a strategic framework for collaboration.

The Partnership has been subject to identifying, exploring and jointly pursuing prospective projects and consultancy assignments, both in India and internationally and particularly in the fields of mining, renewable energy and related infrastructure development.The officials of RITES Ltd and CMPDI were present in the MoU-signing ceremony in Ranchi.

NMDC expands global footprint with its new office in Dubai, forging global pathways in mining

Bengaluru, July 01, 2025: NMDC, India’s largest iron ore producer marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its new international office in Dubai, UAE on 30^th June, 2025. This strategic expansion fortifies NMDC’s global presence and propels its vision to become a multinational mining powerhouse. The office was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, Minister of Steel, and Heavy Industries, in the august presence of Shri H. E. Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE; Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, NMDC; Shri Amarendu Prakash CMD, SAIL; Shri Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India, Dubai; Shri Vinod Kumar Tripathi Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel; along and other senior representatives from Ministry of Steel and Embassy of India (UAE), and the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

The Dubai office will serve as a strategic hub for NMDC, actively tracking developments in the mineral sectors across the MENA region, Africa, and Australia, including regulatory changes and government policies. It will focus on scouting mineral assets, conducting technical due diligence, and facilitating engagements with government bodies, business partners, and research institutions. By providing real-time market intelligence and timely decision support, the office will enable NMDC’s leadership to respond swiftly to global opportunities. Additionally, it will help build a reliable network for confidential insights on peer companies and explore collaborations in Mining Equipment and Technology Services (METS).

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, NMDC, said, “Dubai represents a gateway to global opportunity. With this new office, NMDC is poised to redefine the mining landscape. With our expansion we are revolutionizing our approach to mineral development, securing India’s position as a leader in the mining industry, driving innovation in resource utilization.”

World needs $1.7 trillion of Investment in Mining for energy transition: Priya Agarwal Hebbar, HZL

Bengaluru, January 24, 2025 – World will need an estimated investment of US $1.7 trillion in its mining sector for energy transition, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc and Non-Executive Director Vedanta Limited has said. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Priya also stressed on India’s unique potential to drive global energy transition. She added that while countries like US, China, and the Middle East have extensively harnessed their natural resources to fuel their economies, India has explored less than 15% of its reserves. This presents a unique opportunity for India to unlock its resource wealth and contribute significantly to the global shift toward clean energy.

Priya acknowledged the Indian government’s proactive measures in opening up the mining sector and said, “The Indian government is already taking steps in this area by launching the critical minerals mission and auctioning of critical mineral blocks. This has already seen Vedanta emerge as the preferred bidder for six blocks, paving the way for significant progress in this sector”. She also emphasized Vedanta’s commitment to sustainable mining by leveraging advanced technologies to ensure that mining operations have minimal or zero impact on the environment.

गोवा में फिर उछला 35 हजार करोड़ का जुमला बीजेपी बैक फुट पर
गोवा मे मुख्यमंत्री प्रमोद सावंत माइनिंग वाले इलाके साखलेम से फिर चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं लेकिन माइनिंग फिर से शुरु करने के मुददे ने उनकी मुसीबत बढ़ा दी है . यहां तक कि सावंत की मदद के लिए खुद गृहमंत्री अमित शाह को अपने दो दिन के दौरे में कहना पड़ा कि फिर से बीजेपी सरकार बनने के बाद गोवा में माइनिंग दोगुनी स्पीड से शुरु की जायेगी . अमित शाह एक बार गोवा में माइनिंग पर जी ओ एम का नेतृत्व कर चुके है लेकिन माइनिंग शुरु नहीं कर पाये.
इस बीच कांग्रेस के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष गिरीश चोदनकर ने खुलकर कह दिया है कि बीजेपी ने गोवा में कांग्रेस पर 35 हजार करोड़ रुपये घोटाले का जो आरोप लगाया था उसे साबित करे या माफी मांगे. असल में 2012 में चुनाव जीतने के लिए मनोहर पर्रीकर ने विपक्ष के नेता के तौर पर कांग्रेस पर 35 हजार करोड़ रुपये की अवैध माइनिंग का आरोप लगाया था .इसके लिए तब जस्टिस ए पी शाह समिती की रिपोर्ट का सहारा लिया था लेकिन बीते दस सालों में ये भी लाखों करोड़ो के टू जी घोटाले की तरह ही एक जुमला साबित हुआ .खुद सरकार बनाने के बाद मुख्यमंत्री बने मनोहर पर्रीकर को कहना पड़ा था कि ये 35 हजार करोड़ नहीं बल्कि 3500 करोड़ है. इतना ही नही जब इसके लिए चार्टर्ड अकाऊंटेंट की एक कमेटी बनी तो ये घटकर 350 करोड़ हो गया यानि बीजेपी ने चुनावी फायदे के लिए इसे 35 हजार करोड़ रुपये कर दिया था . बीजेपी इसके सहारे चुनाव जीत भी गयी दो बार लेकिन अब कांग्रेस ने खुलकर चुनौती देकर बीजेपी की मुश्किल भी बढ़ा दी है .
इसी 35 हजार करोड़ के आंकड़े के सहारे गोवा में माइनिंग का विरोध कर रहे एनजीओ गोवा फाऊंडेशन ने दावा किया था कि अगर ये पैसे वसूल लिये गये तो हर गोवा वासी के खाते में तीन लाख रुपये मिलेंगे लेकिन नंबर घटता गया तो अब हर खाते में 100 रुपये भी नहीं हो पा रहा . सोशल मीडिया पर बीजेपी से बार बार सवाल पूछा जा रहा है कि ये भी तो खाते में पंद्रह लाख रुपये के जुमले की तरह तो नहीं है .
चुनाव में भाजपा, कांग्रेस, आप और टीएमसी के साथ साथ क्षेत्रीय पार्टियां जोर आजमाइश कर रही हैं। राज्य के 70 नागरिक संगठनों ने एक जनता का घोषणापत्र भी जारी कर दिया है। सभी दलों का चुनाव अभियान कुछ खास मुद्दों के इर्दगिर्द है जिनमें खनन, बेरोजगारी, भ्रष्टाचार प्रमुख हैं। ये सभी ऐसे मसले हैं जिनको लेकर राज्य की जनता परेशान है। अन्य राज्य के लोग भले न समझ पाएं, लेकिन खनन, गोवा की एक बड़ी समस्या है। अन्य जगहों पर भले ही खनन को पर्यावरण की बर्बादी माना जाता हो लेकिन गोवा में खनन शुरू करने की मांग है।
दरअसल, पहले गोवा की अर्थव्यवस्था में लौह अयस्क के खनन की हिस्सेदारी करीब 75 फीसदी तक थी। 2012 से गोवा की कमाई में पर्यटन से ज्यादा हिस्सा खनन का होता था। लेकिन सुप्रीम कोर्ट के एक आदेश के बाद राज्य में दस साल से खनन बंद है। इसलिए राज्य भर में खासकर दक्षिण गोवा में चुनाव का सबसे बड़ा मुद्दा खनन है। डिमांड है कि खनन फिर शुरू किया जाए। इसीलिए सभी पार्टियां सत्ता में आने पर खनन दोबारा शुरू कराने का वादा कर रही हैं। आम आदमी पार्टी ने तो ऐलान किया है कि सत्ता में आने के छह महीने के भीतर खनन शुरू करा दिया जाएगा।
अक्टूबर 2012 में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने गोवा के तमाम लौह अयस्क खनन और परिवहन पर रोक लगाने का आदेश दिया था। जस्टिस एमबीशाह आयोग की रिपोर्ट के बाद ये फैसला आया जिसमें बताया गया था कि लाखों टन लौह अयस्क अवैध रूप से निकाला जा रहा था। 2015 में राज्य सरकार ने 88 खनन कंपनियों की लीज को फिर से बहाल कर दिया था लेकिन 2018 में गोवा फाउंडेशन नाम के एनजीओ की याचिका पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने तमाम नई लीज रद्द कर दी थीं। बेरोजगारी देश के बाकी राज्यों की तरह गोवा में रोजगार की कमी एक बड़ा मुद्दा है। कोरोना वायरस महामारी से पर्यटन ठप है जिससे बेरोजगारी और भी बढ़ गई है। बंद पड़े खनन कारोबार ने भी इसे बढ़ाया है। लोगों का आक्रोश बेरोजगारी के चलते बहुत ज्यादा है। गोवा में खनन और पर्यटन, अर्थव्यवस्था के दो ही स्तंभ थे और दोनों ही बर्बाद हो चुके हैं।

Goa: 8 mining leases set for auction

The state government has tentatively finalised eight mining in goa. these mines will be selected on report of mining corporation

The Goa government has roped in State Bank of India to help it auction leases for eight” mining blockship its newly created mineral development corporation, chief minister Pramod Sawant announced on Wednesday after a meeting of the state cabinet.

Sawant said the auctions were likely to take place in December and besides the State Bank of India, the Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL) was helping in identifying the leases to be auctioned.

“The cabinet has given approval to MECL for assessment of mineral ore for phase one of the auction. We are auctioning around six to eight blocks. …they are exploring which blocks will be eventually selected. After that auctioning will be conducted by the State Bank of India,” Sawant told reporters.

Iron Ore mining in Goa has remained suspended since March 16, 2018 after 88 mining leases renewed by the Goa government across 2014-15 were rendered defunct and cancelled by a Supreme Court order in February 2018. The mining industry was a major revenue and employment generator for the state and at its peak contributed close to 15% of the state’s GDP

नये साल के जश्न की तैयारी कर रहा पर्यटन राज्य गोवा में राजनीति का माहौल गर्म हो रहा है . इन दिनों राजनीतिक एजेंडा सेट हो रहा है ऐसे में नये नये आये राजनीतिक दल तृणमूल कांग्रेस ने गोवा की नई सुबह और 35 हजार करोड का नया नारा उछाल दिया है . इस मसले पर बीजेपी उलझ गयी है और उसे जवाब नहीं देते बन रहा है .
गोवा में पहली बार है जब चार पुराने दलो के अलावा पांचवे और छठे दल की भी एंटी हो गयी है . गोवा में अब तक बीजेपी . कांग्रेस .एनसीपी और शिवसेना ही बड़े दल थे चुनाव मैदान में लेकिन इस बार आम आदमी पार्टी और तृणमूल कांग्रेस भी मैदान में उतर गयी है. सबसे ज्यादा खर्च तृणमूल कांग्रेस कर रही है और रणनीतीकार प्रशांत किशोर के कहने पर सब हो रहा है . गोवा एयरपोर्ट से उतरकर आप अगर पणजी तक का सफर करेंगे तो हर जगह आपको ममता बनर्जी के पोस्टर नजर आयेंगे. गोयेंची नवी सकाल . गोवा की नई सुबह ..
टीएमसी ने गोवा के पुराने क्रिश्चियन एनजीओ गोवा फाउंडेशन के साथ समझौता कर लिया है और इस संगठन ने पुराने कागज झाड़ पोंछकर एक नया जुमला 35 हजार करोड़ की वसूली और हर गोवा के खाते में तीन लाख रुपये जमा करने का नारा दिया है. पार्टी नेता डेरेक ओ ब्रायन ने कहा है कि गोवा में माइनिंग माफिया ने 35 हजार करोड़ का घोटाला किया था और उसे वापस लेकर हर गोवा वासी को तीन लाख रुपये दिये जायेगे . ये सब उनको गोवा फाउंडेशन के क्लाउड अलवारिस ने समझाया है . जो गोवा के हर विकास काम में रोड़ा लगाते रहे हैं.
क्या है ये 35 हजार करोड़ का खेल .
असल में गोवा फाउंडेशन की अपील पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट के जज एम बी शाह ने एक रिपोर्ट बनायी थी जिसमें कहा गया था कि अनुमान है कि गोवा में गलत खनन से करीब 35हजारकरोड़ का राजस्व नुकसान हुआ .. ये रिपोर्ट 2012 के चुनाव में बीजेपी ने उठा ली और अरुण जेटली के साथ मनोहर पर्रीकर ने इस पर खूब प्रचार किया . बाद में जब पर्रीकर की ही सरकार आ गयी तो वो फंस गये . गोवा सरकार ने इस पर एक जांच बिठाई तो खुद पर्रीकर को अधिकारिक तौर पर कहना पड़ा कि ये आंकड़ा करीब तीन हजार करोड़ का ही है 35 हजार करोड़ तो अनुमान था .. लेकिन मजे की बात जब चार्टड अकाउंटेंटस की एक कमेटी बनाकर जांच की गयी तो असल आंकड़ा 300 करोड़ से भी कम के रेवेन्यू लास का निकला. आखिर में वो भी पांच साल मे वसूल नही हो पाये . यानि 15 लाख करोड़ के काले धन और हर खाते में 15 लाख के जुमले की तरह इसका इस्तेमाल हो गया. अब तृणमूल कांग्रेस ने इसे लपक लिया है और लगातार बयानबाजी कर रहे है लेकिन मुश्किल ये है कि खुद बीजेपी सरकार भी इसका खंडन नहीं कर पा रही है. डर यही कि लोग अगर फिर से खाते में तीन लाख के झांसे मे आ गये तो क्या होगा.
गोवा की हालत खराब ..
असल में इस समय गोवा एक ऐसा राज्य हो गया है जिस पर कोविड का सबसे बुरा असर पड़ा है. गोवा में दो साल तक पर्यटन पूरी तरह बंद रहा तो कसीनो ,क्लब और किनारे पर खुले होटल ठपप हो गये .दूसरी तरफ कानूनी पचड़े के कारण 2018 से माइनिंग बंद है .आइरन ओर की इन माइन के बंद होने के कारण ढुलाई और पोर्ट से आवाजाही भी बंद है . इससे सरकार को कोई इनकम नहीं हो रही .गोवा पर अभी करीब 23 हजार करोड़ रुपये का कर्ज है जो पिछले तीन साल मे 50 फीसदी बढा है क्योकि कोई कमाई नहीं है ..इसी के चलते सरकार के काम रुक रहे है . गोवा में सरकार को हर महीने 112 करोड़ रुपये चाहिये केवल तनख्वाह देने के लिए वो भी जुटाना मुश्किल हो रहा है . ऐसे में गोवा के सीएम प्रमोद सावंत फिर से माइनिंग चालू करने की बात कर रहे है लेकिन तृणमूल ने 35 हजार करोड़ का जुमला उछाल कर उनको परेशानी में डाल दिया है.
गोवा में 14 लाख की आबादी में से 3 लाख लोग किसी न किसी तरह माइनिंग में लगे हैं जाहिर है माइनिंग बंद होने से बेरोजगारी भी बेतहाशा बढ़ी है और कोविड में पर्यटन ठप होने से ये कोड़ में खाज की तरह हो गयी है. अब चुनाव में फिर से मुददे और जुमले उछाले जा रहे है जबकि आम गोवा वासी जो बहुत साधारण रहते हैं कहीं वो इस जुमले की राजनीति में फंस ना जाये तो बीजेपी को बहुत मुश्किल होगी..

Steel Minister directs to make non-operational mines functional

Union Steel Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh on Friday directed PSUs under his ministry to start mining activity at their non-operational mines.

According to a steel ministry statement, the minister made these remarks at a meeting with CMDs of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), NMDC and Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL).

“Steel Minister has expressed his concern over the non-operationalisation of certain mines…and directed the concerned CPSEs to finalise the roadmap for starting the mining operations in these non-working leases/mines,” the ministry statement said.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced that his cabinet had decided to carry out the auction of six to eight mining blocks in the state through the state-run mining corporation by mid-December.

“It is almost finalised. By December 15, we should be able to complete the auction procedure for about six to eight (mining) blocks. It will be done through the corporation but State Bank of India has been taken on board for the auction,” Sawant said after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday morning.

The announcement comes at a time when restarting mining has become one of the top election promises in poll-bound Goa. Mining, which was an important source of livelihood in Goa along with tourism, came to a complete halt after a Supreme Court order in 2018. Mining had, in fact, virtually stopped in 2012 itself while the issue was under litigation. A sector that has been awaiting revival in line with the directions of the Supreme Court is now a poll issue, with every political player offering to revive it and restore livelihoods.
