Bengaluru, 11th November 2025 – In the lead-up to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Prosus, in partnership with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, is hosting a five-part national series titled ‘AI for All: Catalyzing Jobs, Growth and Opportunity’.

The first roundtable titled ‘Amrit Arogya: AI for Health, Healing and New Horizons in Care’ , focused on healthcare and brought together over 20 leaders across government, public health, academia, philanthropy, and India’s emerging health-tech ecosystem.

Sehraj Singh, Managing Director, Prosus India, remarked at the session, “At Prosus, our belief is simple – when innovation is inclusive, growth becomes sustainable. Through this partnership with MeitY, we aim to help India define what a truly human-centric AI future can look like for the world.”

The roundtable was co-chaired by Mr. Rentala Chandrashekhar, Chairman, Centre for the Digital Future and Former Secretary (IT & Telecom), and Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chair, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation and Former Chief Scientist, WHO and Former Director General, ICMR.

Opening the discussion, Mr. Rentala Chandrashekhar said, “AI’s real promise lies not just in diagnostics or automation, but in democratizing access to quality healthcare while creating millions of new jobs. The goal is to reimagine India’s healthcare ecosystem – enhancing outcomes, not replacing people.”

Emphasizing the centrality of people-first innovation, Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chair, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation and Former Chief Scientist, WHO noted, “AI should not be a substitute for care; it should be a supplement. The measure of success is not in how many algorithms we develop, but in whether health outcomes improve. Responsible innovation must always prioritize people.”

Discussions highlighted how AI is poised to play a transformative role in diagnostics, preventive care, telemedicine, and chronic disease management, particularly in underserved regions. Founders and health-tech leaders including SigTuple, O-Health, Tata MD, and Carnegie Mellon University’s Digital Vaccine Project presented real-world use cases demonstrating scalable models for impact.

A recurring theme was the need for strong, secure, and interoperable data ecosystems to enable innovation responsibly and at scale. Dr. R.S. Sharma, Former CEO, National Health Authority, stated, “India already holds one of the world’s richest health data repositories. The opportunity lies in unlocking this value through privacy-by-design frameworks and federated data architectures that enable innovation while protecting citizens.”

The roundtable also surfaced proposals to accelerate India’s leadership in human-centered health AI, including the creation of a National AI Health Mission, a shared data collaboration framework between government and industry, and a national framework for AI safety and evaluation.

The Amrit Arogya roundtable marks the first in a five-part national series. Upcoming discussions will focus on Agriculture (Amrit Krishi), Education (Amrit Vidya), Manufacturing (Amrit Udyog), and Finance & Governance (Amrit Niti). Insights from all five will shape the AI for All White Paper, to be launched at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in February.

The Government of Tripura has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, on January 28, 2025. This marks a significant step in promoting regional languages in governance and enhancing digital participation for citizens. The MoU signing ceremony, held at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala, took place during the State-Level Workshop ‘Bhashini Rajyam’, inaugurated by Shri Pranajit Singha Roy, Hon’ble IT Minister of Tripura.

The workshop outlined Bhashini’s vision for digital inclusivity and showcased its AI-driven language solutions, including real-time translation, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and voice-to-voice translation between Indian languages and English. Discussions focused on Tripura’s role in integrating these capabilities into governance and strategies to promote regional languages on digital platforms and government applications.

Many citizens in rural and tribal areas of Tripura struggle with language barriers, as most government digital platforms operate in English or Hindi. By enabling services in local languages, Bhashini will bridge this gap and make governance more inclusive. Its multilingual capabilities can be integrated with the CM Helpline, eVidhan, Kisan Sahayata App, e-District, and Amar Sarkar, improving citizen engagement. The CCTNS platform can also benefit from voice-based data entry and FIR translations, making legal and administrative processes more accessible.

Tripura is now the first northeastern state, the first in eastern India, and the eighth state in India to sign an MoU with Bhashini. It also joins a select group of states that have conducted focused workshops on multilingual governance. This pioneering move underscores Tripura’s commitment to digital inclusivity and leveraging technology for citizen-centric governance.

By integrating Bhashini into its e-Governance framework, Tripura aims to reduce the digital divide, enhance policy implementation, and strengthen regional identity. This initiative, backed by DIBD-MeitY, marks a transformative step toward a more inclusive, technology-driven administration, ensuring that Tripura’s linguistic diversity is embraced in governance.
