One-day Chairman award winners felicitated at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant

In a function organized at the Manthan Conference Hall on 22^nd September 2025, Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (DIC), RSP with additional charge of DIC, Bokaro Steel Plant felicitated Mr. Allen Jacob John, Senior Manager, Blast Furnaces (Mechanical) and Ms. Deepika Agarwal, Assistant Manager, New Plate Mill of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) for excelling in the ‘One Day’s Chairman’ Competition organized by SAIL. Mr. Tarun Misra, ED(HR), Mr. B R Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines, OGOM-CMLO), Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects), Mr. Rajesh Dasgupta, CGM (Finance), Mr. R K Bisare, CGM (NPM, Mr. Sumeet Kumar, CGM (Blast Furnaces) and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

Notably, the ‘One Day’s Chairman’ competition was organised by SAIL Corporate Affairs Division to understand the potential of the employees as leaders and change agents. As part of the initiative 756 entries were received from all over SAIL and out of them 15 top entries were selected as winners. Each of the award winners will receive a Certificate of appreciation from the Chairman SAIL and a cash award of Rs. 5000/-.

The DIC presented the certificates to Mr. Allen. In the absence of Deepika, the certificate was received by Mr. Bisare.

Congratulating the young achievers, Mr. Verma said that the recognition reflects their innovative thinking and leadership potential. He added that such initiatives not only encourage employees to think strategically but also nurture a sense of ownership and belongingness towards the organization. All the Senior Officers present on the occasion also congratulated the winners of the competition.

Official Language Implementation Committee Meeting held at SAIL, RSP

Official Language Implementation Committee (OLIC) Meeting of the SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant was held at Manthan Conference Hall on 10^th June 2025. Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge(RSP) with additional charge of Director In-Charge (ISP & DSP) presided over the meeting. Present on the occasion were Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines) and Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED(Projects). The meeting was attended by many Chief General Managers and Heads of the Department of the Plant.

In his address, Mr. Verma emphasized the importance of implementing the Official Language (Rajbhasha) in daily official functions, documentation, and communication. He urged all departments to adopt bilingual/trilingual communications in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.

The session commenced with a welcome address followed by a detail presentation by Ms. Archana Satpathy, GM (PR) & CoC and Member Secretary (OLIC) who elaborated on the various check points pertaining to implementation of Rajbhasha.

“Make the best use of opportunities and achieve excellence to enable the organization to scale greater heights,” advised Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) while addressing the 11 newly promoted Chief General Managers. The promoted executives along with their spouses received the promotion orders from Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, in the function organised at the Manthan Conference Hall of DIC Office on 3^rd August,2024.

The promoted executives are Mr. Subrata Praharaj as CGM (Vigilance) &ACVO, Mr. S.C.Patra as CGM(I&A), Mr. Bijay Kumar Jojo as CGM (TE & Horticulture), Mr. Hiralal Mohapatra, as CGM(Utilities & Environment), Mr. Kaushika Sunyani, as CGM (Traffic), Mrs.Asha S. Kartha as CGM(S&FS), Mr. Rajiv Sehgal as CGM(MM-Purchase), Mr. Sumeet Kumar as CGM (Blast Furnaces), Dr. R R Mohanty as CMO(M&HS). Mr. Debadatta Satpathy has been posted as CGM (S &FS) at Bhilai Steel Plant while Mr. Dhirendra Mishra has got posting as CGM (HR), in Jharkhand Group of Mines of Bokaro Steel Plant.

Mr. S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works), Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR) with Additional Charge of ED (Projects), Mr. A K Behuria, ED (F&A), Mr. Anil Kumar, CGM (MM) with Additional Charge of ED(MM) and Dr. Jayant Acharya, CMO In-charge (M&HS) were also present on the occasion. They congratulated the new CGMs for their well deserved elevation. The promoted executives in turn thanked the management and expressed their commitment to carry out their duties and responsibilities with even more zeal and zest.

Mr. S Badapanda, GM (HR-OD) and Ms. Simpi Patel, Dy. Manager (PL-OD) coordinated the programme.
