New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Government of Madhya Pradesh have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish India’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior, marking a major step towards strengthening domestic telecom manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The project aims to create a world-class ecosystem for telecom equipment and allied technologies, attract investments, generate employment, boost regional industrial growth and enhance India’s position as a global telecom manufacturing hub. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia described the initiative as a significant milestone aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’, while Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said it would transform Madhya Pradesh into a key centre for advanced manufacturing, technology and exports. Minister of State for Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani and senior officials from the Centre, the state government and the telecom industry were also present at the MoU signing ceremony.
