NEW DELHI. Pawan Hans Limited (PHL) has signed a non-binding MoU with Norway-based Noemi Aerospace (Elfly AS) to explore sustainable aviation technologies, focusing on electric seaplane solutions. The agreement was signed by PHL CMD Sunil Kumar Nagdawne and Noemi Aerospace CEO Eric François Lithun, in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha.

The partnership focuses on technical knowledge sharing, skill development, feasibility studies, and capacity building. Highlighting the initiative, Minister Naidu emphasized the government’s “Make in India” vision for indigenous seaplane manufacturing, supported by Union Budget 2026 incentives, Viability Gap Funding (VGF), and dedicated Seaplane Operations Guidelines.

Supported by the Norwegian Government, Noemi Aerospace brings advanced electric seaplane technology to advance India’s regional and island connectivity. The Ministry clarified that the exploratory MoU carries no financial commitment, serving to foster strategic international partnerships and green aviation innovation across the domestic civil aviation ecosystem.

NEW DELHI. The Union Cabinet has approved the revamped UDAN 2.0 scheme with a budget of Rs 28,840 crore to expand regional air connectivity over the next decade. The plan includes developing 100 airports by upgrading existing unserved airstrips and building 200 helipads, especially in remote, hilly, and island regions, to improve emergency and healthcare access. It also supports procurement of indigenous aircraft, such as HAL helicopters and planes, and provides financial aid to airlines for operating in less-connected areas. The scheme aims to make air travel affordable, boost connectivity to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, and promote “Make in India,” building on the success of the original UDAN launched in 2016.
