SAMBALPUR. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has officially commenced its Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 campaign, running from June 16 to June 30 across its headquarters and operational fields. Shri Uday Anant Kaole, Chairman and Managing Director, launched the fortnight-long initiative by administering the Swachhata Pledge at the MCL Headquarters in Sambalpur, motivating workforce members to contribute to a cleaner and greener nation.

Amplifying the campaign’s reach, female employees flagged off a dedicated Swachhata Rath to spread message-driven awareness regarding safety, personal hygiene, and environmental care. Throughout the fortnight, MCL plans to host a series of clean-up drives, plantation activities, and community outreach programs to firmly embed the spirit of collective responsibility and sustainable hygiene practices across all its mining zones and administrative segments.

MCL Funds Free Two-Year ITI Training for 40 Students at CIPET Bhubaneswar

SAMBALPUR. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed an agreement with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) in Bhubaneswar to provide a two-year residential ITI training program in Electrician and Fitter trades. Under this social welfare initiative, MCL will spend 1.26 crore rupees to completely cover all expenses, including training fees, food, and housing, for 40 selected students throughout the entire two-year course.

MoU’s were signed by Sri PK Chakraborty, GM (CSR) on behalf of MCL and Sri PK Sahoo, Principal Director & Head, CIPET on behalf of CIPET.

MCL TO INVEST Rs 40,000 CRORE TO SET UP 4GW THERMAL POWER PLANT

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) will invest Rs 40,000 crore to set up a 4,000 MW thermal power plant, ET reported. The project will be developed in association with Coal India and the Energy Department of Odisha.

The company is also planning to establish a high ash coal to ammonium nitrate plant with an annual capacity of 6,00,000 metric tonnes. The investment outlay for this project is Rs 11,782.05 crore. The plant will be set up in partnership with BCGCL and the Industries Department of Odisha.

In the renewable energy segment, MCL has lined up three major projects. These include a 2,000 MW ground-mounted and floating solar power plant with a projected investment of Rs 12,000 crore. A 500 MW pumped storage power plant is proposed at an investment of Rs 5,000 crore. Additionally, a 100 MW wind power plant is expected to be developed at a cost of Rs 900 crore.

Coal India HR/IR Conclave 2025, hosted by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and inaugurated virtually by Shri P.M. Prasad, Chairman of Coal India Limited, emphasized the utmost importance of employee well-being and corporate social responsibility (CSR). During his address, Shri Prasad reaffirmed that the health, welfare, and safety of the workforce are critical priorities. He encouraged the HR community to align with best practices across industries to enhance both employee welfare and the upliftment of underprivileged communities.

Conference focused on the evolving role of HR. The event featured discussions on fostering a culture of trust, transitioning from traditional Personnel Management to a more modern HR approach, and recognizing labor matters as essential drivers of growth. Emphasis was placed on upskilling leaders, strengthening employee relations, and understanding the impact of labor reforms on the industry. The two-day conclave brought together over 150 delegates, including Directors (HR) from all subsidiary companies and distinguished HR leaders from industry and academia. Team WCL HR, led by Director (HR) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, participated in the HR for HR Conclave – 2025 at MCL Bhubaneswar.

Artificial intelligence has helped Emirates Group to cut down the time taken to select a candidate from 60 days to near zero days and saved Dh1.9 million in recruitment costs, according to a senior officer.

The technology helped streamline the procedure of hiring, cut down duplication and saved over 1100 days for recruiters.

Manal Al Soori, Senior Vice President of HR Group Recruitment at the company revealed these figures during a session at the Dubai AI Week. She explained that it now takes the firm less time to select candidates because several parts of the recruitment process has been automated, using the software by a company called Hirevue.
