The additional responsibility will take effect from July 1, 2026, and will remain in force for six months or until the appointment of a regular Director (HR) at MCL, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Biranchi Das, who assumed charge as Director (HR) at SECL on March 20, 2024, brings nearly three decades of experience in human resource management, with expertise in industrial relations, employee welfare and corporate social responsibility, and has led several impactful HR initiatives during his tenure at SECL.</p>

Droupadi Murmu and Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for a coal-to-ammonium nitrate plant at Lakhanpur, Odisha. Developed by Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited—a joint venture of Coal India Limited and BHEL—the project marks India’s first commercial coal gasification plant, backed by an investment of approximately 25,000 crore rupees.</p>
<p>The facility will produce 6,60,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate annually for industrial use, with coal supplied by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. Top union ministers and senior officials attended the event. This flagship project converts domestic coal into synthesis gas, reducing import dependence and driving industrial growth to support the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.</p>
