VI- John’s ‘Grooming Ka Mahakumbh’ Enters Asia Book of Records for Maximum Participants in Digital Pledge

March 31, 2025: VI- John Healthcare India has made its mark in the Asia Book of Records for achieving the “Maximum Participation in a Digital Pledge for Personal Grooming in Maha Kumbh.” This accomplishment is part of their recent initiative at the Maha Kumbh Mela, where the brand organized a free grooming initiative, ‘Grooming Ka Mahakumbh,’ bringing together an impressive 10,410 participants who took the ‘Grooming Pratigya,’ pledging to make personal grooming a nationwide movement.

The brand stationed several “Grooming Rath” at the Maha Kumbh, offering VI-John’s grooming services to help devotees feel fresh and confident. As part of this hygiene initiative, thousands of devotees took the ‘Grooming Pratigya,’ pledging to prioritize personal grooming and hygiene. Over an impressive 45 days, and with the largest digital pledge for personal grooming in Asia, Vi John proved that self-care is not just a personal journey but a powerful one.

Expressing his excitement, Mr. Harshit Kochhar, Managing Director at VI-John Healthcare India, said, “This record-breaking event is a testament to our commitment to ‘Grooming India.’ Seeing thousands come together to embrace personal grooming as a way of life reinforces our mission to instill confidence and self-respect in individuals nationwide.”

Speaking on the occasion, Ashutosh Chaudharie, General Manager Marketing, VI John Healthcare India, shared, “Grooming Ka Mahakumbh” was our ambitious campaign at Mahakumbh, which saw a record turnout. We offered free grooming services to a vast majority of devotees and educated them about the importance of grooming. To record it and to get a stronger commitment, we asked them to take “Grooming Pratigya” and share with them a Grooming Pratigya certificate on the spot, thereby making it a memorable experience for them.”

A special felicitation ceremony took place at VI-John’s corporate office on March 12, 2025, where the official record handover was conducted with distinguished dignitaries, industry leaders, and key stakeholders. With this landmark recognition, VI-John Healthcare India further cements its position as a trailblazer in the personal grooming industry, continuing to set new benchmarks for quality, innovation, and consumer awareness.

This first-of-its-kind initiative ensures uninterrupted access to education for children of migrant labourers accompanying their families to the event from different parts of the country. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Akanksha Rana, Special Officer, Maha Kumbh Mela Authority.

At the event, Ms Akanksha Rana praised the program, stating, “Vidya Kumbh is a commendable initiative that will inspire children from labourer families towards education and secure their future. This effort to prioritise education amidst a grand event like the Maha Kumbh Mela will bring a significant change in the lives of these children.”

Many of these workers, who travel from various parts of India, are accompanied by their families, including children whose education is disrupted in the process.

Vidya Kumbh is a response to this challenge, aiming to provide learning opportunities to children in and around the event. The school will run for four months, providing children access to foundational learning, quality education materials, and life skills-building activities.

“Educate Girls, in collaboration with the Basic Education Department, has launched the ‘Vidya Kumbh’ initiative to ensure that the children of labourers attending the Maha Kumbh Mela don’t miss out on their education. This transformative step towards ensuring no child’s education is disrupted due to socio-economic circumstances underscores the importance of taking education to where children are, rather than waiting for them to come to us,” added Vikram Solanki, Director of Operations, Educate Girls.

Notably, several girl children who were previously identified by Educate Girls as ‘out-of-school’ in other states, such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, have been found at these camps, highlighting the critical need for ongoing educational outreach and the role Vidya Kumbh plays in keeping these children connected to education despite their transient circumstances.

“Through this camp, we are striving to promote education and connect children to foundational learning for a better future. I am confident that this initiative will be a success at the Kumbh Mela. My gratitude goes to all the organisations contributing to this effort,” added Praveen Kumar Tiwari, Basic Education Officer, Prayagraj.

Located in Sanitation Colony-2, Vidya Kumbh was inaugurated in December 2024. The event was also attended by Dr. Anand Singh, Additional Chief Medical Officer, Mr. Rajeev Tripathi, Deputy Commissioner, Basic Education Department, and representatives from Educate Girls. During the event, Educate Girls’ supplementary, remedial learning curriculum kits called ‘Gyan Ka Pitara’, which focus on Foundational Learning and Numeracy for Grades 3-5, were also distributed.

The program has garnered significant attention from dignitaries, including state education officers and NGO representatives.

NTPC Limited is pioneering sustainable innovation with its hydrogen buses, powered by green hydrogen and solar energy, at the Mahakumbh. Collaborating with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), these eco-friendly buses are ferrying pilgrims, marking a significant milestone in reducing emissions and contributing to India’s sustainable development goals. These robust buses offer a 300-kilometre range on a single hydrogen refill, can withstand sub-zero temperatures and thin air at high altitudes, and are projected to reduce carbon emissions by 350 metric tons annually. The hydrogen station, powered by a 1.7 MW solar plant, produces up to 80 kg of hydrogen daily, equivalent to planting 13,000 trees, making it a vital step in India’s journey toward achieving its sustainable development goals.

Mahakumbh 2025, expected to host over 40 crore global devotees, will showcase Uttar Pradesh’s rural transformation through the ‘Swachh Sujal Gaon’ (Clean and Water-Secure Villages) initiative. This exhibit highlights Bundelkhand’s inspiring journey from water scarcity to sustainable water solutions under the Jal Jeevan Mission, with the theme ‘Solution to Drinking Water: New Identity of My Village’.

A 40,000-square-foot exhibition will offer a vivid portrayal of Uttar Pradesh’s progress, showcasing flagship initiatives like PM Awas Yojana, CM Awas Yojana, gram panchayat development, and village solar energy adoption. Designed for inclusivity, the exhibit will provide multilingual access in Hindi, English, Bengali, Telugu, and Marathi, ensuring it resonates with diverse audiences.

The 47-day event will feature rural women sharing personal stories of change, demonstrating how clean water access has transformed lives. Villages in Banda, Jhansi, and Chitrakoot now celebrate events like weddings, previously hindered by water shortages. Women from Lalitpur and Mahoba will describe health and lifestyle improvements, such as relief from carrying heavy water loads and its associated health risks.

A key attraction will be the ‘Jal Mandir’* (Water Temple), emphasizing water as a divine and essential resource. Symbolically featuring the holy Ganga flowing from Lord Shiva’s locks, it conveys the sacredness of water. Morning and evening Jal Aarti ceremonies will integrate the Jal Jeevan Mission’s conservation message with spiritual significance, creating a unique environmental and spiritual experience.

Visitors to the ‘Swachh Sujal Gaon’** pavilion will experience India’s ethos of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (Guest is God). Guests will receive ‘Jal Prasad’: eco-friendly jute bags containing sacred water from the Sangam, a diary of the Jal Jeevan Mission, and educational materials detailing success stories of rural water transformation.

The pavilion will feature a Digital Corner, combining education with engagement. Visitors can access interactive games to learn about the importance of clean water and the dangers of contamination. Villagers will also benefit from real-time updates on water supply and tap connections in their areas, accessible with a single click.

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: Over 60 lakh devotees gathered at Sangam on Monday to take part in the sacred ritual as one of the world’s largest spiritual gatherings kicked off in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The first Shahi Snan of the Mahakumbh was observed on Paush Purnima today.

Sangam, the meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, witnessed a huge turnout. The 45-day festival is expected to draw even more devotees, boosting local trade significantly during its course.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his greetings for the festival, describing the Mahakumbh as a reflection of India’s enduring spiritual legacy that celebrates faith and unity.

Along with millions of Indian pilgrims, several international visitors also participated in the Mahakumbh on Monday, some braving the chilly weather to take a holy dip in the sacred waters.
Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT, highlighted the significant economic impact of the event, predicting that the festival would generate a major surge in trade and economic activities. “With an average spending of ₹5,000 per individual during their religious journey, the overall expenditure is expected to surpass ₹2 lakh crore. This includes costs for accommodations, food, religious goods, healthcare, and other essential services,” said Khandelwal.

When does Mahakumbh start?
The Mahakumbh Mela began on January 13, 2025, and will continue until February 26, 2025, attracting millions of devotees seeking spiritual purification.

When does Mahakumbh 2025 end?
The Mahakumbh Mela 2025 will conclude on February 26, 2025.

Why is Mahakumbh 2025 significant?
While the Kumbh Mela takes place every three years at four different locations, the Mahakumbh is held only once every twelve years in Prayagraj. The 2025 edition is particularly special due to a rare celestial alignment, which only occurs once every 144 years, further enhancing the spiritual and astrological significance of the event.
