]]> NEW DELHI. The Government of India has assured citizens that there is no shortage of energy for domestic consumers despite the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that energy imports are flowing steadily through various sources and routes, urging the public not to panic. To safeguard supply, the government has invoked the Essential Commodities Act 1955, ensuring 100 percent supply of CNG and PNG to households based on their average past six-month consumption. While domestic sectors remain the priority, other industries will continue to receive 70 to 80 percent of their gas supplies.

To prevent hoarding and black marketing, a 25-day inter-booking period for domestic LPG has been introduced.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has also directed oil refineries to increase LPG production specifically for household use. While supplies are being prioritized for domestic consumers and essential services like hospitals and schools, a committee of executive directors from IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL has been formed to manage distribution for other commercial sectors. These measures collectively aim to maintain an uninterrupted and affordable energy flow across the country during the current global disruptions.
