Creating spaces for reflection has become equally important in preparing students for a rapidly changing world. When students begin thinking about who they want to become and the kind of future they wish to create, they develop qualities such as creativity, critical thinking and confidence, skills that will remain relevant regardless of how the world evolves.

This spirit came alive at Birla Open Minds School in Bhopal through the Wall of Tomorrow initiative, which transformed a simple wall into a canvas of dreams, ambitions and ideas for the future. Students were invited to respond to prompts such as “The person I want to become is…”, “The future that I am building looks like…” and “The India that I want to see is…” in just one sentence.

What emerged was a powerful reflection of a generation full of optimism and purpose. From aspirations of becoming innovators and leaders to hopes for a more inclusive, sustainable and progressive India, each message added a unique perspective to the larger story of tomorrow. The initiative reminded students that every generation has something new to say and the potential to shape a better future.

During his visit to the school, Mr. Nirvaan Birla, Managing Director of Birla Open Minds, spent time walking through the Wall of Tomorrow, pausing to read the messages and reflections shared by students. As he moved from one note to another, he engaged with students about the stories, aspirations and ideas behind their words. What began as a simple activity soon turned into meaningful conversations around innovation, leadership, technology, education and the future they envision for themselves and the country. Seeing the confidence, optimism and thoughtfulness reflected in their responses served as a powerful reminder that when young minds are given a platform to express themselves, they are capable of imagining possibilities far beyond the classroom walls.

Students were keen to understand what inspired Nirvaan Birla to enter the field of education and asked him, “Sir, what made you enter the field of education and why do you think it is so important?” In response, Nirvaan shared that his own journey was shaped by the stories, experiences and values he learnt from family, friends and the people around him while growing up. He explained that education has the power to shape young minds, inspire dreams and help individuals become better human beings, which motivated him to continue the vision his parents had started in the education space. Among the many conversations that unfolded, another student’s question about overcoming distractions resonated with many in the room. Nirvaan encouraged students to identify the root of what is occupying their minds and focus on what lies within their control, while practising acceptance and learning to let go of things they cannot change.

As education continues to evolve, experiences that encourage reflection, discussion and mentorship are becoming just as important as academic learning. Because preparing students for the future is not only about knowledge, it is also about helping them find their voice and giving them the confidence to imagine the world they want to build.

Addressing the newly inducted executives from various technical and non-technical disciplines, Shri Satish Jha congratulated them on joining the Coal India family and welcomed them to ECL, describing their posting as a unique opportunity to gain invaluable professional experience in one of the country’s most diverse mining environments.

ECL is home to some of the oldest and deepest coal mines in the country and produces country’s finest quality coal. Encouraging the young officers to remain committed to learning, innovation and continuous self-development, the CMD urged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline and professionalism while contributing to ECL’s continued growth and the nation’s energy security. He expressed confidence that the exposure and experience gained at ECL would provide them with a strong foundation for leadership and decision-making throughout their careers.

The inaugural session also featured an inspiring address by Shri Devamira Das, the Chief Speaker, who shared his experiences and insights with the participants, motivating them to pursue excellence with dedication, curiosity and a spirit of continuous learning.

The inaugural session was chaired by Shri Gunjan Sinha, Director (HR), ECL, who encouraged the Management Trainees to imbibe ECL’s core organisational values and strive for excellence in every responsibility entrusted to them. He highlighted the importance of teamwork, ethical conduct and continuous skill development in building successful professional careers.

Shri Girish Gopinathan Nair, Director (Technical), ECL, also addressed the gathering and shared his professional experiences with the young, encouraging them to adopt a practical approach to problem-solving and operational excellence. The enthusiastic trainees actively participated in the interactive sessions and shared their ideas on innovation, operational improvement and value addition to the company’s functioning.

Designed as a comprehensive induction programme, ‘Ankuran 2.0’ aims to familiarise newly recruited Management Trainees and Departmental Promoted Executives with ECL’s organisational culture, business operations, safety practices and leadership values. A standout testament to Singrauli’s enduring legacy is its very first 200 MW unit. Commissioned way back in 1982, this unit continues to operate at a phenomenal Plant Load Factor (PLF) of nearly 100%. More than four decades later, it stands as a shining template of engineering excellence, rigorous operational discipline, and a robust maintenance culture. Beyond generating critical power for the nation, NTPC Singrauli continues to produce something equally invaluable: institutional knowledge, leadership, and a template of inspiration for the entire power sector.

The comprehensive communication workshops engaged a vibrant cross-section of the township’s stakeholders. Crucial discussions with regional media representatives centered on upholding journalistic credibility, maintaining corporate transparency, combating fake news, and navigating the rising influence of Artificial Intelligence in media management. Dedicated interactive sessions with NTPC executives reinforced the core philosophy that the fundamentals of effective communication—reading, writing, and active listening—remain indispensable.

The training culminated in an advanced session with the senior leadership team focusing on Crisis Communication, where a realistic mock press conference demonstrated that successful crisis mitigation relies as much on proactive preparation, institutional credibility, and empathy as it does on hard facts.

The engagement also extended beautifully to the next generation, featuring an energetic interaction with nearly 150 local school students. The infectious enthusiasm of the youth was channeled into a lively quiz competition, where students were passionately encouraged to cultivate diverse hobbies, sustain their innate curiosity, and build lifelong reading habits.

Furthermore, the journey itself brought forward-looking reflections, from observing the vibrant, screen-free township life with families playing badminton at the Executive Club, to recognizing the regional need for enhanced road connectivity on the drive from Varanasi to Singrauli—a vital belt that actively powers the nation.

Hyderabad: 11^th July, 2026: The Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur, held its Investiture Ceremony with great pride and enthusiasm, formally inducting the newly elected Student prefects for the academic year. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to nurture responsible, confident, and value-driven leaders.

The occasion was graced by Padma Shri awardee Dr. G. V. Rao, Director of AIG Hospitals and Chief of Surgical Gastroenterology, as the Chief Guest. The Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur, felicitated its distinguished alumnus, Dr. G. V. Rao, on the occasion of his receiving the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to medicine and healthcare. The ceremony was attended by members of the HPS Society, BOG, faculty, students and alumni, making it a proud and memorable occasion for the HPS community.

Addressing the students, Dr. Rao encouraged the young leaders to embrace responsibility with humility, lead with integrity, and view leadership as an opportunity to serve others. He highlighted the importance of discipline, compassion, perseverance, and ethical decision-making in shaping future leaders.

The ceremony commenced with the ceremonial oath-taking, where the newly appointed Head Boy, Head Girl, House Captains, Deputy Captains, Prefects, and members of the student prefectorial board pledged to uphold the values and traditions of the institution while fulfilling their responsibilities with dedication and sincerity.

Welcoming Dr. Rao, the Principal described his journey from the classrooms of HPS to becoming one of India’s foremost Surgical Gastroenterologists as an inspiration for generations of students. Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri Jaikumar Srinivasan underscored that empowering young girls is fundamental to building resilient families and stronger communities. He highly lauded NTPC Bongaigaon for fostering an inspiring, protective environment and later inspected the residential amenities to interact directly with the participants. To encourage their independence and future educational journeys, Shri Srinivasan personally distributed bicycles to all 50 girls. Echoing this vision, Shri Arnab Maitra reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to inclusive growth, defining GEM as a cornerstone initiative designed to groom confident, capable, and socially responsible future women leaders. The launch event also featured a vibrant cultural showcase, a documentary on the GEM journey, and moving success stories shared by the program’s 2023 alumni batches.

Running from July 4 to July 31, 2026, the comprehensive curriculum offers a life-enriching blend of academic learning, digital literacy, personality development, sports, creative arts, and emotional well-being. Since debuting locally in 2022, the Bongaigaon chapter has successfully empowered 210 girls, standout among which is a merit policy where the top 10% of performers—selected via independent external evaluation—receive fully sponsored free education at the township school. On a national scale, NTPC’s standard-setting GEM initiative has already transformed the lives of over 13,000 girls across India, firmly driving corporate social responsibility, gender equality, and sustainable grassroots development forward.

An auspicious and melodious start

The ceremony commenced on a spiritually uplifting note with an elegant invocation dance, setting a serene and graceful tone for the day. This was followed by a mesmerizing performance by the school choir, whose soulful rendition of inspiring songs filled the auditorium with harmony and elevated the overall atmosphere beautifully.

The ceremony was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Shri Chandra Mohan, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Golkonda Zone, whose presence added immense significance to the occasion.
