Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that India Post will revolutionize its services by launching a guaranteed mail and parcel delivery service from January 2026. Under this new initiative, customers will be assured of a guaranteed delivery timeline within 24 and 48 hours. This means your items will now be guaranteed to be delivered within 24 to 48 hours. The launch of this service is likely to provide strong competition to private courier and parcel service providers.

The Communications Minister stated that these new services will upgrade the existing Speed Post network. Under this, mail delivery will be ensured within 24 hours. Deliveries through this service will be completed within 48 hours. Scindia also announced another significant initiative: a “next-day parcel delivery” service will be launched. This service will dramatically reduce parcel delivery times. Instead of the current 3 to 5 days, parcels will be delivered the very next day.

The Communications Minister also addressed India Post’s financial future. He stated that the government’s overarching goal is to transform India Post from a mere cost center to a profit center by 2029. This initiative will help India Post compete with private courier companies and increase its efficiency and revenue by ensuring timely and reliable delivery to customers.

The minister informed that India has secured 49th position in the Network Readiness Index 2024, which was 60 last year. Also, India has now joined the Tier-1 category in the Global Cybersecurity Index, where it has a score of 98.49/100.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Steel on Friday said now is the time for aerospace players to look at leveraging the opportunities in the country. Amid the global aviation segment facing headwinds of geopolitical issues and supply chain woes, the civil aviation minister also said India is the “promised land” that can help offset the risks.

Shri Scindia, inaugurated the ‘International Aerospace Conference: Moving Towards Inclusive Global Value Chains’. It is being jointly organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on 1st and 2nd September 2023 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

In his inaugural address, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia said that now it is time for global aerospace industry players to supplant themselves to India and there are multiple reasons for it:

A) Development of Infrastructure:

Indian civil aviation sector has moved to 148 (74) airports including heliports and water aerodromes.

Government is committed to take this number upwards of two hundred in coming three to five years;

B) Availability of aircrafts:

Now we have reached the avaibility og almost 700 ( 400) plnes and nearly 1000 more on order;

C) Ecosystem Development:

The disinvestment of Air India has brought about a transformation in civil aviation industry in the country, not only for passengers, ,airports, but also for MROs, for manufacturing sector, and for cargo.

D) Thrust on Regional Connectivity:

UDAN has given birth to 4 new regional airlines in the country. The hub and connectivity network we have been talking about for decades is a reality in India today.

BJP’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan was sworn in as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh today, days after the Congress government of Kamal Nath fell after losing its majority.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan took oath for the fourth time as Chief Minister.

Kamal Nath resigned on Thursday just before the Supreme Court’s deadline to prove his majority in a trust vote.

The Congress lost its majority after 22 MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia took a flight to Bengaluru and resigned

The MLAs joined BJP yesterday, tweeted Mr Scindia, who quit his party of 18 years and joined the BJP last week.

The Congress tried to reach out to the rebel MLAs but failed to win any of them back. Rejecting their appeal for more time, the Supreme Court said the uncertainty in Madhya Pradesh must end and ordered a test of strength last Thursday.

Kamal Nath, who came to power in December 2018, resigned before the deadline, knowing it would be impossible for him to make up the numbers needed to stay in power.

Announcing his resignation on Friday, Madhya Pradesh chief minister KAMAL NATH said he will continue to fight aginst BJP.

After weeks of political drama in Madhya Pradesh which went from senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia joining the BJP, the Grand Old Party’s government in the state has collapsed.

Kamal Nath listed out the several projects done under the Congress administration. He followed it up with,”The BJP could not tolerate this”.

Nath further said that Indians can see the truth behind the incident where MLAs are being held hostage in Bengaluru. “The truth will come out. People will not forgive them,” he said.

Kamal Nath alleged the BJP had continuously plotted against the Congress government. “Every 15 days, a BJP leader would make a remark, saying this government is here only for a few months and won’t last long.

They also held hostage our 22 MLAs in Karnataka. They have spent crores of rupees by luring our 22 MLAs to the BJP camp. The BJP has planned this to kill democracy. The people of Madhya Pradesh will never forgive them,” he said.

Accusing the BJP of not being able to handle the work done by the Congress administration in Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath said, “I had been given five years to develop the state, five years to make Madhya Pradesh to be counted among one of the big states.”

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Sharad Kumar resigned on Friday hours ahead of the impending floor-test in Madhya Pradesh. The Speaker of the Assembly, NP Prajapati, accepted the BJP MLAs resignation this morning.

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, with a face mask sat on a dharna outside the Ramada hotel in Bengaluru early Wednesday morning after he was allegedly not allowed to meet the Congress MLAs inside the hotel.

In a video clip, it can be seen how the police are trying to remove him from the spot as he resists being evicted.

“I’m a Rajya Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh, voting is scheduled for March 26. My MLAs have been kept here, they want to speak to me, their phones have been snatched, police are not letting me speak to them saying there is a security threat to MLAs,” said Digvijaya Singh.

The Madhya Pradesh leader, who arrived early this morning in the city, said he has been receiving messages from the families of the lawmakers who have been held “captive” in Bengaluru.

“We were expecting them to come back, but when we saw they’re being held back, messages came from their families,” the leader added.

He also alleged that there is police presence in every hotel room and the lawmakers are being followed at all hours.

The 22 Congress lawmakers from Madhya Pradesh in Bengaluru appeared before the media on Tuesday and said they were with BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia and had not been held captive. The MLAs said they were open to the idea of returning to their home state immediately if provided Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) security.

The Congress government’s problems began last week after 22 MLAs resigned from the assembly in the wake of former senior party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia joining the BJP. The speaker later accepted the resignations of six members, bringing the strength of the House to 222, with the majority mark at 112.

The Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh scored a 10-day reprieve today as the assembly session was adjourned without a trust vote until March 26 over coronavirus, after a one-minute address by Governor Lalji Tandon. The opposition BJP has gone to the Supreme Court.

The Governor this morning walked out of the assembly amid slogans of “respect the house” after he read out only the last page of his traditional address on the opening day of the budget session and urged the Congress to “follow the Constitution”.

“All must follow the rules under the Constitution so that dignity of Madhya Pradesh remains protected,” said the Governor, who had written to the Speaker to hold a test of strength today for the 15-month-old Kamal Nath government.

after the Governor’s walkout, the MLAs of the government and the opposition BJP remained inside, shouting slogans at each other. As they walked out, the BJP MLAs sang: “Hum Honge Kaamyab…”

The Congress, desperate for survival, has asked for the assembly to be suspended over coronavirus. Many of its MLAs entered the house wearing masks.

Kamal Nath has written to the Governor calling his letter directing a trust vote unconstitutional and asserting that it “does not lie within the domain of the Governor to interfere with the functions of the Speaker”.

The resignation of 22 Congress MLAs has brought the state government on the brink of collapse. The MLAs, who flew to Bengaluru in BJP-ruled Karnataka, are expected to follow Jyotiraditya Scindia into the BJP; the long-time Congress leader made the stunning switch last week, complaining that the party was “not what it was before”. The four-time MP had been seething in resentment for months, without any government or party post in Madhya Pradesh after the Congress won state polls in December 2018.

Only six of the 22 resignations have been accepted by the Speaker.

The Congress claims the rebels have been kept captive in Bengaluru and is desperate for more time to establish contact with them and possibly, win them back.

On the weekend, the Chief Minister even wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah requesting “help” to free the “kidnapped” MLAs.

After a meeting with the Governor that ran past midnight, Kamal Nath told journalists that the Speaker would take a call on today’s voting.

In his letter, Mr Nath said to the Governor: “The Governor cannot require the Speaker to discharge his functions in the manner he considers constitutionally appropriate.”

The Madhya Pradesh assembly currently has 222 of 230 members and the majority mark is 112. The Congress has 108 MLAs in the House, and the support of seven allied legislators. If the resignations of all 22 MLAs are accepted, the Congress’s strength will come way below the new majority mark of 104, and the BJP, with 107 MLAs, can form government.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke out on the exit of Jyotiraditya Scindia who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party yesterday, underlining that he had known the four-time parliamentarian from his college days and knew about his ideological views. Gandhi also appeared to predict that Scindia, who he described as “an old friend” would neither get respect in the BJP nor will he be satisfied.

Gandhi’s comments came around the same time that Scindia landed in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal to a rousing welcome from supporters, new and old. This was his first to the state after joining the BJP.

At the BJP office in the state capital soon after, Scindia thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for opening the party’s doors to him. “”I am feeling fortunate to join the BJP… I have brought only one thing with me (to BJP) and that is my hard work,” Scindia said.

In Delhi, Gandhi, who launched a sharp attack on PM Modi for the state of the economy, also critiqued Scindia’s move. This was the first time that Gandhi was speaking in some detail on the exit of one of the Congress’ most prominent faces.

Gandhi spoke about his long association with Scindia and said there is a difference between what was in his heart and what he was saying.

“I know the ideology of Jyotiraditya Scindia ji. He was with me in college. I would keep talking to him, I know him well. Jyotiraditya Scindia feared for his political future and therefore kept his ideology in his pocket and went with the RSS,” Gandhi said.

“But the reality is that neither will he get respect there, nor will the truth and emotion in his heart be satisfied. He will come to realise it,” he said about Scindia, one of his closest political associates.

Asked about Scindia’s move to the BJP, Gandhi said, “This is a clear cut fight of ideologies. On one side is the Congress party’s ideology, on the other hand is the RSS-BJP ideology”.

Scindia’s exit from the Congress is believed to have been triggered by the party’s failure to keep its promises to the key figure in Madhya Pradesh politics amid efforts to marginalise his supporters in the state and the refusal to take on board his political and governance related concerns by the Kamal Nath government.
