PVUNL Records Profit and Pays Maiden Dividend in First Year

NEW DELHI: Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) has achieved profitability in its first year of operation, recording revenue of Rs 1,148.48 crore, EBITDA of Rs 467 crore and Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 127.16 crore in FY 2025-26. The company has also declared its maiden dividend, paying Rs 51.70 crore to NTPC Ltd. and Rs 18.17 crore to JBVNL.

PVUNL’s Patratu STPP, which commenced commercial operation on November 5, 2025, achieved a 73.1% Plant Load Factor (PLF) during its first year, exceeding the national average. Equipped with Air Cooled Condenser (ACC), Ultra Super Critical (USC) and dry ash-handling technologies, the project marks a significant milestone in next-generation thermal power generation. With Unit-3 targeted for commissioning in FY 2026-27 and Phase-II of Patratu STPP progressing towards launch, PVUNL is poised for further growth and value creation.

Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL), a subsidiary of NTPC in joint venture with JBVNL, has successfully completed the 72-hour trial operation of its Phase-I, 3×800 MW power project’s Unit #1 on October 16, 2025, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Jharkhand’s power infrastructure and advancing India’s energy goals. Laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on May 25, 2018, the project aims to enhance energy self-reliance and support economic growth in Jharkhand. The milestone was witnessed by key officials including CEO Shri A.K. Sehgal, who highlighted PVUNL’s commitment to delivering approximately 85% of its power to Jharkhand, utilizing advanced technologies such as ultra-supercritical systems, dry ash utilization, and air-cooled condensers for sustainability and environmental conservation. The successful trial underscores the collective efforts of PVUNL, NTPC, the Jharkhand government, and stakeholders, paving the way for full commissioning of the 3×800 MW project, which is expected to significantly boost the state’s energy availability and support industrial development.
