Jasudben ML School Spreads Joy with their Community Giving in 2024-25

Mumbai, 10 February 2025 : Jasudben ML School, Mumbai successfully concluded its annual Donation Drive for Community Service for the academic year 2024-25. Spanning from September to December- the year-long initiative aimed to instill values of empathy, social responsibility, and humanity in students, embodying the school’s dedication to holistic education. The drive also aligned with the NEP’s 2020 emphasis on the comprehensive development of young minds.

The drive empowered JML’s mission to foster compassion, love, and generosity. The school conducts different drives centered around multiple initiatives. These initiatives see the active participation of students across all grades from I to XII and NIOS). This year, each student contributed ₹200, collectively raising a total of ₹224,050, which was donated to NGOs focused on education, welfare, and social upliftment. The drive also featured hands-on activities, interactive sessions, and donations supporting various causes including animal welfare, assistance for the visually and hearing impaired, and contributions to the upliftment of underprivileged children and women in rural areas.

Principal of JML, Damayanti Bhattacharya expressed her delight and pride stating, “At Jasudben ML School, we believe in nurturing socially responsible students who understand the value of giving back. The success of this year’s Donation Drive and Community Service highlights our students’, teachers’, and parents’ collaborative efforts to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. We want to inculcate compassion as a key learning component among children, enabling and creating an equitable future.”

Preschool students contributed their bit to Advaitya (a home for specially-abled children)
Nursery, Junior KG, and Senior KG students donated the amount to Sarla Old Age Home, Missionaries of Charity, and Centre for Children in Need of Special Care (BMC School that runs inside the school campus), respectively. The money was used to buy food items, groceries, container boxes, toiletries, and stationery as required.
Students from Grades I to III prepared goodie bags with food and stationery, which were donated to the BMC school within the Gujarat Research Society premises.
Grade IV students donated Rs. 20,000 to the National Association of the Blind (NAB) and visited their Worli center, where they observed Braille printing, and audiobook recording, and engaged in meaningful interactions with visually impaired individuals.
From Grade V Rs. 30,000 was donated to the NGO ‘Hands that Heal,’ which cares for abandoned street animals. Students also participated in an interactive program with the NGO and bonded with rescued animals brought to the school.
From Grade VI Rs. 20,000 was donated to DEEDS NGO, which supports the hearing impaired. Students learned sign language and gained insights into the challenges faced by individuals with hearing impairments.
Grades VII’s portion of the funds (Rs. 13,000) was utilized to provide lunch for the school’s non-teaching staff, reflecting gratitude and community care.
While Grade VIII & XI contribution of Rs. 40,000 was donated to the Association for the Welfare of Mentally Challenged (AWMH), enabling a sports tournament for mentally challenged individuals at Goregaon Sports Club. JML students actively volunteered in this initiative.
Further, Grades IX, X, & XII’s Rs. 40,000 was donated to Anavya NGO, which works to educate and care for children and women in rural areas.
The secondary section Art students organized the `Art Exhibition “Kalanidhi” during Founder’s Week Souk, raising Rs. 10,000, proceeds of which will fund a desktop computer for the BMC school in the next academic year.

JML’s drive continues to uphold its tradition of fostering empathy and meaningful engagement, inspiring students to lead with integrity, compassion, and a deep sense of social responsibility. Through such initiatives, the school empowers young minds to become proactive contributors to society, embodying values that extend beyond the classroom.

The week-long event featured thematic learnings aligned with NEP-2020, Mini Bazaar and celebrated the signature event C’est La Vie
As one of the first schools to embrace NEP-2020, JML is dedicated to leveraging technology to promote holistic development and foster inclusive education.

Mumbai, 23 December 2024: Jasudben ML School celebrated its Founders’ Week 2024, bringing the school community together to honour the enduring principles of community and education—the cornerstone values upheld by its founders. JML, which carries a legacy of interdisciplinary education, was one of the first schools to implement NEP-2020, blending traditional systems with contemporary techniques aiming for the holistic development of students. This year’s celebration, which started on December 18th and went on until December 23rd, featured exhibitions, engaging activities, and demonstrated creativity and learning, encouraging learners to develop a penchant for extracurricular activities.

JML’s 2024 Founders’ Week was a truly unforgettable experience for students, parents, and teachers, featuring thematic showcases beautifully aligned with the vision of NEP-2020. The themes focused on the systems around us including the human body, administration, and education among others. It further featured interactive learning exhibitions, and cultural activities designed to highlight the students’ talents and hard work.

The week-long Founder’s Day was a reflection of how the school has strengthened its roots in the realm of education and accomplished innovation in its learning systems by seamlessly incorporating AI and investing in technology. It has strengthened its learning pedology over the years, which is evident through its students’ achievements in education and extra-curricular alike including the recent athletic wins by its students.

The signature event of the series of events was C’est La Vie, a cherished tradition at the JML School for over a decade. The C’est La Vie is an in-house festival organized by and for the students of Grades IX to XII and NIOS. C’est La Vie 2024 transformed the school into a lively hub of creativity and expression through student-driven activities, including games, performances, and interactive experiences, showcasing the students’ talent, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Other key attractions included thematic displays by pre-primary and primary students on “Dive into Learning” and “Save Blue, Go Green,” emphasizing environmental consciousness and creative exploration. Middle and senior school students presented their club activity projects, highlighting the need for experiential and interdisciplinary learning.

Students also showcased the initiatives and activities undertaken by the clubs throughout the year. These included the Vocational Club, Ubuntu Club, The Socials Club, The Scrabble Club, School Band, Sanskriti Club, Quiz Club, Public Club, Photography Club, Nature Club, Movie Appreciation Club, Financial Literacy Club, Debate Club, Dance Club, Coding Club, Astronomy Club, and Book Lovers Club, each highlighting their unique work done and achievements.

The school’s illustrious alumni include Namit Malhotra (Founder, Exec, Chairman, Global CEO – Prime Focus Limited, Chairman and CEO of DNEG), Satyen Kothari (CEO/Chairman & Founder of Cube Wealth & Citrus Pay), Neel Bhatt (Actor), Aishwarya Dongre ( IPS Officer), Amit Talreja (Team Manager Mumbai Indians), Suhva Raha (Energy Policy Advisor), Ritija Bhatt Khade ( National Swimmer) among others.

Adding a unique entrepreneurial touch to the celebration, The Bazaar transformed into a vibrant marketplace showcasing an array of products, including chocolates, clothing, delectable treats, bags, handmade crafts, healing solutions, paintings, and accessories, among others—all created by parents and students. This initiative provided entrepreneurial parents a platform to display their talents, fostered a sense of community, and supported local businesses. It also offered students a hands-on opportunity to learn about running businesses and the importance of community collaboration.

The week-long celebration ended with a high-spirited Christmas party, marking the end of a year filled with accomplishments, learnings, and the promise of new beginnings.
