NEW DELHI. India’s aviation sector has witnessed rapid growth, with air travellers rising from 11 crore in 2014 to nearly 25 crore in 2025, according to Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. Speaking at the launch of ‘Yatri Sewa Diwas 2025’ at Hindon Airport, he highlighted the success of regional connectivity, citing Hindon’s expansion from just one flight in 2020 to 16 city connections today. The minister emphasized that the government’s UDAN scheme has been central in making air travel affordable and accessible to the common citizen, transforming it from an elite privilege to a mass transport option.

Naidu underlined that ‘Yatri Sewa Diwas’ reflects the government’s “Passenger First” approach, rooted in Prime Minister Modi’s governance model of service to the people. He announced that all airports will soon be Wi-Fi enabled under the Digital India Mission to enhance passenger convenience. Stressing the importance of self-reliance and inclusivity, he urged stakeholders and passengers to support ‘Vocal for Local’ in aviation procurement and services as part of building a Viksit Bharat on the foundation of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
