The Summit witnessed an exceptional response, with over 35,000 exhibition attendees, 28 States / Union Territories, 200+ exhibiting companies including 80+ Start-ups, 6,000+ delegates, 300+ speakers, and 100+ conference sessions, reflecting its scale and global significance.

The Summit reaffirmed India’s commitment to building a future-ready, technology-driven, and investment-friendly energy ecosystem, while supporting the energy needs of both the nation and the Global South.

The third day of the Bharat Energy Summit (BES) 2026 featured the “India–Africa Strategic Partnership Meet,” a high-level forum aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation in the power sector. Hosted by REC Limited CMD Shri Jitendra Srivastava, the session saw participation from Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the Haryana Chief Minister, and delegates from nations including Mauritius and Malawi.

Discussions, supported by international bodies like the World Bank and Africa 50, focused on joint ventures, capacity building, and sustainable infrastructure development.

GURGAON. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has partnered with Africa50 to sign a significant Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement for developing critical transmission infrastructure in Kenya. This landmark project includes the construction of the 400 kV Lessos–Loosuk and 220 kV Kisumu–Kakamega–Musaga transmission systems, with a concession period of 30 years. The initiative marks Africa’s first Independent Transmission Project (ITP) and represents POWERGRID’s inaugural project-finance international transmission venture in Africa. The project aims to strengthen Kenya’s national grid, enhance system reliability, and enable efficient power evacuation from renewable-rich regions to major load centers, reflecting growing confidence in private sector participation in Africa’s power transmission sector.

The agreement was signed in the presence of senior officials from both sides, including Dr. R. K. Tyagi, Chairman & MD of POWERGRID, and key Kenyan government representatives such as Principal Secretaries from the Energy and Treasury departments. Leveraging Africa50’s regional expertise and financial structuring capabilities, alongside POWERGRID’s vast technical and operational experience, this collaboration underscores a strategic move towards sustainable infrastructure development. With POWERGRID’s extensive global footprint and proven track record of delivering large-scale transmission solutions across diverse geographies, this partnership signals a new chapter in Africa’s power sector, fostering regional integration, renewable energy development, and increased energy security.
