Bengaluru, 3^rd October, 2025: IIM Sambalpur commemorated ten years of academic excellence, institutional growth and innovation. The occasion marked by the inauguration of three new campus facilities followed by the celebration of its 11th Foundation Day in presence of Union Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. These glorious ten years underscore IIM Sambalpur’s journey from a budding institute to a nationally distinguished management school.

The event witnessed the inauguration of the new BS Program Hostel facility, followed by a new Rangabati Open Theatre and Café Hub Complex. In the scenic campus, these facilities illustrate myriad elements of school life like student accommodation, cultural space, and social friendly engagement spaces, and demonstrates the school’s aspiration to a commitment to whole life experience for students.

As it embarks on its second decade, the institute is resolutely focused on strengthening its academic programs with highly diverse degree programs and ultimately fulfilling its vision of being a Triple Crown-accredited, globally-ranked management institution.

In a welcome speech, Prof Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur highlighted 10 significant achievements on completion of 10 years of IIM Sambalpur.  He said, “In the past 10 years, IIM Sambalpur has created its own niche among 21 IIMs in the nation with a world-class campus built in record 2 years saving 35 crores from the approved budget.  In the NIRF 2025 rankings, IIM Sambalpur climbed 16 spots from its previous ranking of 50 to rank 34th among management institutions, which is one of the highest upward jump in the rankings for the year. IIM Sambalpur has become the first institution globally to include Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled classrooms and teaching modules to facilitate a shift in faculty roles from lecturer to facilitators of active learning in the classroom. IIM Sambalpur has been doing excellent in terms of achieving and maintaining a health gender diversity in its MBA batches since 2019, the latest with 76% of female students in the current second year batch. The institute is in the advance stage of achieving global accreditations with “Triple Crown” International accreditation such AACSB, BGA/AMBA and EFMD/EQUIS. Under the master weavers training program, IIM Sambalpur has mentored 80 master weavers. Today, these weavers are empowered and are showcasing their product globally through digital platforms.

The institute has hosted Prof. Teguh Dartanto (Universitas Indonesia), IIM Sambalpur’s designated AACSB Mentor, on its New Delhi and Sambalpur campuses. Prof. Teguh’s visit commenced with a series of rigorous meetings at the Delhi campus from 27^th to 29^th July while 30^th and 31^st July, at the Sambalpur campus. During which, he engaged with major institutional stakeholders such as institute lead, i.e., Director; students; alumni; and corporate recruiters.

These interactions are expected to play a crucial role in understanding and achieving AACSB’s quality standards in business education. During this visit at the Delhi and Sambalpur campus, Prof. Teguh made an in-depth academic assessment and intensified the roadmap for the Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER) for IIM Sambalpur.

In a historic step, IIM Sambalpur was also pleased to host Prathap Das, Regional Head – South Asia, AACSB, at its Delhi campus, on 28^th of July. As part of the visit, Prathap Das formally handed over the AACSB Membership Certificate to Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur, in a ceremonial handover that marks the formal launching of IIM Sambalpur’s global accreditation process. The ceremony reflects IIM Sambalpur’s determination to adhere to globally benchmarked levels in management education and research.

Bengaluru; 01^st July, 2025: IIM Sambalpur, one of the most progressive and fast-growing IIMs in the country, renowned for setting standards continues to uphold its commitment towards academic excellence and diversity. In the latest admissions cycle for the academic year (2025-2027), IIM Sambalpur has reported slight increase of 5% in the numbers of engineers admitted compared to non-engineers. This development is evident across both its newly launched MBA in Business Analytics programme as well as the 11th batch of its flagship MBA Programme for 2025–27. In alignment with IIM Sambalpur’s core values – Inclusivity, Integrity and Innovation, IIM Sambalpur’s incoming MBA batch also comprises three students with physical and mobility challenges.

Of the total 363 graduates admitted across both the MBA programmes, 186 which is constituting 51.24% of the batch, hold engineering degrees. While non-engineers students’ account for the remaining 48.76%. The preference for technical background is evident in the MBA in Business Analytics (MBA‑BA) programme, where the engineering cohort comprises of 61.70%. However, the flagship MBA programme, reports a near‑equal distribution, with 49.68% of graduates from engineering and 50.32% from non‑engineering students. Additionally, the MBA‑BA cohort stands out for its industry readiness, as 100% of the cohort possess prior work experience, thereby increasing the practical orientation and applicability of the programme in the evolving business environment. Complementing this academic spread is healthy gender diversity: the incoming batch is 33% female and 67% male overall, with the flagship MBA classroom showing 38% women and 62% men, while the MBA‑BA pioneers include 5% women and 95% men. Disciplinary variety stretches well beyond engineering—around 20% of students hold commerce and accountancy degrees, 9% come from pure sciences, 8% from management‑related courses and 4% from the arts, with the remainder bringing specialised qualifications in fields such as agriculture, horticulture, pharmacy, law, journalism, fashion technology, dentistry, hotel and tourism management, and shipping. Seventy‑five percent of the entire cohort arrive with prior work experience. Within the MBA programme 72% are experienced hires, while in MBA‑BA everyone has at least a year of industry exposure. For the MBA class specifically, 4% have under a year of experience, 19% bring one‑to‑two years, 43% have two‑to‑three years, and 6% exceed the three‑year mark; the MBA‑BA group distributes across one‑to‑two years (49%), two‑to‑three years (36%) and three‑to‑four years (15%). Sectoral representation is equally broad, led by information technology, engineering and industrial roles, banking and financial services, and consulting, with strong showings from retail and FMCG, education and ed‑tech, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, sales and marketing, e‑commerce, legal services, telecommunications and several niche domains. In terms of geographical diversity, the batch comes from almost all states and union territories of India, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In terms of state of domicile, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh account for 13% and 12% of the incoming batch, followed by Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Delhi, West Bengal, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Gujarat.

The Bachelor of Science in Management and Public Policy programme is designed to meet national managerial aspirations in terms of Sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and community-led development. This programme aims to equip a new generation of change-makers to close the gap between policy and practice at the grassroots level.

The Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is focused towards developing India’s digital capability and global competitiveness. The event also witnessed a roundtable discussion with the theme: “Global Capability Centres (GCCs) as Engines of Innovation for Global Enterprises. Bramhanand Jha, PMP, Vice President, National eGovernance Division under MeitY, Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India graced the occasion as the chief guest. While Lt. Col. It is to be noted that IIM Sambalpur is the first IIM to offer admissions to its B.S. in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programme through IIT JEE Main, and to its B.S. in Management and Public Policy programme through CUET, both national-level entrance exams conducted by the National Testing Agency. It is to be noted that admissions for the B.S. programmes will begin in June 2025. Classes for the first batch will commence from September 2025.
