September 09 2026, NAGPUR: Some visits last only a day but open a much wider window. For nearly 50 students from remote and tribal Gadchiroli, their journey to IIM Nagpur for the Media Conclave 2026 was one such experience.

They came to attend discussions on media and leadership; they returned with a closer view of a world shaped by ideas, education, enterprise and public service.

The students from the University Institute of Technology, Gadchiroli, supported by Lloyds, were special participants at the conclave, organised on the theme “Media, Leadership and the New World Order.” IIM Nagpur welcomed them not merely as visitors, but as young participants in the conversations taking place on its campus.

Their day began with the inaugural function presided over by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways. Shri B. Prabhakaran, Managing Director, Lloyds Metals & Energy Limited, was the Chief Guest, while Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, welcomed the dignitaries and participants.

“I was especially happy to see students from the University Institute of Technology, Gadchiroli, at the conclave. For me, their presence made the occasion even more meaningful,” said B Prabhakaran.

As Shri Gadkari, Shri Prabhakaran and Dr Bhimaraya Metri delivered their speeches, the auditorium became a classroom without a conventional syllabus. Through the keynote addresses by media Gurus, these students got the global views about artificial intelligence, media credibility, economic transformation, leadership and development journalism.

Later, the Padma Conclave shifted the conversation from major national issues to deeply personal stories of service. Padma Shri awardees Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, Dr Dhananjay Sagdeo and Shri Subhash Sharma spoke about their work in healthcare, tribal communities and natural farming.  The session, moderated by Prof Prashant Gupta, Dean – Faculty and Academics, IIM Nagpur, allowed the visiting students to see how grassroots service could earn national recognition and inspire others.

Beyond the formal sessions, another important conversation unfolded outside the auditorium.

Members of IIM Nagpur’s Nexus student club accompanied the visitors on a tour of the campus. As they moved through the Institute and interacted with its students, IIM Nagpur became a place they could see closely, experience and, perhaps, imagine themselves being part of one day.

Welcoming the students, IIM Nagpur director Dr Metri said, “Institutions create their greatest impact when they expand the horizons of young people.  I hope this experience strengthens their confidence to dream big, pursue higher education and become leaders who create more leaders.”

By the end of the day, the students had listened to a Union Minister, an industry leader, distinguished journalists and three Padma Shri awardees. They had also walked through the campus of one of India’s leading management institutions and interacted with the students who bring it to life.

Nagpur, September 1, 2026: Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIM Nagpur) inaugurated its Hindi Month 2026 on September 1, marking the beginning of a month-long celebration of the Hindi language through a series of literary, cultural and academic activities.

Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, noted educationist, thinker and orator, was the chief guest. He highlighted the important role played by Hindi in India’s freedom movement and its continuing relevance as a language that connects people across the country.

Dr. Mishra said that Hindi was not merely a language of communication during the freedom struggle, but also became a powerful means of connecting people across geographical and linguistic boundaries. “Hindi helped establish a linguistic connection from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Attock to Cuttack during the freedom movement,” he said.

IIM Nagpur director Dr Bhimaraya Metri, CAO Prof Devashis Rath, Chairperson – brand and media Prof Yatish Joshi, faculty members, officers, staff and students attached to Veda literature club were present at the Hindi Maah inaugural function.

Describing the nature of Hindi, Dr. Mishra said that the language is simple, flexible and has a strong poetic quality. He noted that Hindi has never been restrictive in its evolution and has welcomed and assimilated words from several Indian and foreign languages.

Referring to the global presence of Hindi, Dr. Mishra said that, according to the 2023 data of the Anthropological Survey of India, Hindi is among the world’s largest spoken languages.  Dr. Mishra further emphasised that India’s multilingual character is its strength and should be celebrated.

“If Bharat Mata is considered our mother and the country our motherland, Hindi can be seen as a language that belongs naturally to all Indians,” he said, stressing that Hindi is not about replacing other Indian languages but about strengthening communication and national connect.

Earlier, Prof. Yatish Joshi outlined the activities planned during Hindi Month at IIM Nagpur and spoke about the institute’s efforts to encourage the use of Hindi through a diverse range of programmes.

Prof. Devashis Rath spoke about the growing use and acceptance of Hindi at IIM Nagpur. He highlighted the institute’s progress in creating greater opportunities for Hindi communication and participation across its academic and administrative activities.

Prof. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, spoke about the simplicity and accessibility of Hindi. He emphasised that Hindi is an easy and natural language of communication and that its simplicity makes it accessible to people across different sections of society.

IIM Nagpur announces ‘Meghdoot’, its Annual Hindi Publication

As part of the inaugural programme, the cover and concept of ‘Meghdoot’, IIM Nagpur’s annual theme-based Hindi publication, were launched.

Meghdoot is envisioned as an annual Hindi magazine of IIM Nagpur that brings together the creative, literary and institutional expressions of the IIM Nagpur community around a central theme.  Its first edition will be released on January 10, 2027; World Hindi Day; informed Chaitanya Deshpande, officer for Communication & Media, and official language, IIM Nagpur.

Nagpur, August 19, 2026 : “The ability to turn adverse circumstances into favourable ones is management,” said Padma Shri awardee and Chairman of Solar Group of Industries Satyanarayanji Nuwal, while addressing students of the Indian Institute of Management Nagpur on Wednesday. He was speaking at a felicitation ceremony organised by IIM Nagpur to honour him on being conferred the Padma Shri for his contribution to trade and industry.

Sharing lessons from his own journey, Nuwal said challenges should be viewed as opportunities to learn and grow. “If there are challenges before you, consider them a blessing from God,” he said.

Nuwal also stressed that professional competence alone does not define success. “You can be a good professional, but success in life is possible only with good character,” he said, urging students to develop strong values alongside professional skills.

He advised management students to develop an understanding of material science, which he described as an important area for future technologies and industries. Speaking about the growing role of artificial intelligence, Nuwal said AI was entering every field, but technological advancement should not weaken one’s connection with culture and roots.

Nuwal also spoke about India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing and Solar Group’s work in developing indigenous technologies. He said the company’s counter-drone system, including the Micromax missile, is expected to be ready by October. He also spoke about the development of a universal air bomb compatible with aircraft manufactured by both NATO and Eastern countries.

Earlier, Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, felicitated Nuwal on behalf of the institute. In his address, Dr Metri highlighted Nuwal’s journey from humble beginnings to building a leading Indian enterprise and said his life and experiences offered valuable lessons for management students.

The ceremony was attended by faculty members, officers, staff and students of IIM Nagpur. The programme provided the IIM Nagpur family an opportunity to celebrate Nuwal’s national honour and draw lessons from his journey in entrepreneurship, leadership, resilience and nation-building.

Another defining feature of this year’s MBA cohort is that students from non-engineering backgrounds have outnumbered engineers, signalling a growing preference among candidates from commerce, economics, humanities, science and other disciplines for management education. The batch represents 23 states across India, bringing together students from diverse academic, cultural and professional backgrounds.

In her address, Ms. Gautami Tadimalla urged the students to see themselves as future leaders and achievers but never forget their identity as compassionate human beings. “You have already achieved something remarkable by earning admission to IIM Nagpur. The institute will teach you management and technology, but never lose your humanity. Success becomes meaningful only when it improves the lives of others,” she said.

Mr. Manoj Kolhatkar, described admission to IIM Nagpur as a privilege earned by only a select few. Appreciating the institute for enrolling 52 percent women students, he observed, “Industries today struggle to achieve even 25% women representation, while this batch has 52% women. That is a wonderful milestone and reflects the changing face of leadership in India.” Kolhatkar said India is uniquely positioned for sustained growth and highlighted the national vision of becoming a USD 30 trillion economy by 2047. “Today’s management graduates would play a crucial role in achieving this aspiration,” he said.

Welcoming the incoming students and their parents, Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, said they had chosen the right institution at the right time. “India will play a defining role in shaping the global economy, and this century belongs to India. Prepare yourselves to lead the world.”

Prof. Prashant Gupta, Dean-Faculty & Academics, outlined the academic framework and learning ecosystem of the institute. Prof. Sujeet Kumar Sharma, Dean- Research, Sponsored & Smart projects and PhD Programmes, introduced the institute’s research ecosystem and doctoral programmes, while Prof. Alok Kumar Singh, Dean- Executive Education, highlighted the rapid growth and achievements of IIM Nagpur’s executive education initiatives. During the ceremony, Director’s Merit List Certificates were presented to outstanding incoming students. IIM Nagpur and Cheema Group Scholarships were also awarded to deserving candidates by Mrs Kokila Cheema, Director of K S Cheema group of Companies, and Dr. Bhimaraya Metri.

The new MBA batch comprises 341 students from 23 states, including 65 students from Maharashtra, 39 from Uttar Pradesh, 31 from Madhya Pradesh, 25 from Gujarat, 23 from Delhi, 19 from Rajasthan, 17 from Bihar, 15 from Jharkhand, 13 from Haryana, 12 from Telangana, and 10 each from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. The institute has also welcomed students from the North-East, including Assam (3), Mizoram (2), Nagaland (1) and Tripura (1). The average age of the incoming MBA students is 23 years, while nearly 40 percent of the batch brings prior work experience, further enriching classroom diversity.

“Our journey for the next five years will be guided by the vision of ‘From India to the World’. A grand, full-fledged IIM Nagpur campus will come up in Pune. The State Government has allotted 70 acres of land on a nominal lease of just ₹1. Once developed, IIM Nagpur will be the only IIM in the country to have such a large second full-fledged campus,” Dr Metri said.

Dr Metri was recently reappointed as Director of IIM Nagpur for another five-year term. He said one of his major goals during the second tenure would be to take IIM Nagpur into the world’s Top 100 business schools.

The Institute is also looking beyond Pune. Dr Metri said expansion in Goa is on the future roadmap, while global academic partnerships will be taken to a new level.

At present, IIM Nagpur has an academic collaboration with the University of Lille, France, including student mobility opportunities. Over the next five years, the Institute aims to build partnerships with 20 leading universities across continents, giving students opportunities to study at international campuses, gain global exposure and pursue dual-degree pathways.

“We want our students to experience the world, study on international campuses and earn globally relevant qualifications. Our aim is to build meaningful partnerships across continents,” Dr Metri said.

This global ambition forms part of IIM Nagpur’s newly announced Strategic Roadmap 2026–31. The roadmap includes multi-campus growth, a place among India’s Top 3 institutions in Executive Education, AI-driven management education, India-centric research, energy and climate leadership, entrepreneurship, and a larger role in the development of Maharashtra and Vidarbha. The Institute has also set its sights on entering the world’s Top 100 business schools and Asia’s Top 10.

 The roadmap seeks to position IIM Nagpur as a growth engine for Maharashtra and Vidarbha. The Institute plans to use its expertise in entrepreneurship, public policy, rural development and industry partnerships to contribute more directly to regional growth.

Initiatives such as IVDP 2.0 and the District Development Strategy (DDS) are expected to support rural transformation and investment-led development.

“Our responsibility cannot end at the classroom door. IIM Nagpur must contribute to job creation, regional transformation, clean energy, public policy, entrepreneurship and India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” Dr Metri said.

 Energy and climate action will be another important area in the coming years. IIM Nagpur plans to build on its Executive MBA in Energy Management with NPTI, engagement with ONGC Green Limited, and the proposed Centre of Excellence for Heat Resilience and Sustainable Cooling with NRDC.

The Institute will also take forward the second phase of campus development, its Net-Zero ambition, and the already operational solar power initiative.

70-acre Pune campus to drive next phase of growth

The proposed Pune campus at Moshi will be one of the biggest pillars of IIM Nagpur’s next phase. Dr Metri said the Maharashtra Government has allotted the 70-acre land on a ₹1 lease, while its estimated market value is more than ₹180 crore. He thanked the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister of Maharashtra for their support.

“Several IIMs have smaller satellite or extension centres, but our vision for Pune is fundamentally different,” Dr Metri said.

The Pune campus will focus on areas such as manufacturing, Industry 4.0, digital technologies, AI and IT management. Proposed academic offerings include an integrated BBA–MBA programme and a five-year BTech–MBA programme in collaboration with leading IITs.

“Pune gives us a unique opportunity to rethink management education and develop leaders who understand technology, management and industry as an integrated whole,” Dr Metri said.

NAGPUR, January 29, 2026 : Imagine a village where every development plan is backed by expert research, where local youth are trained like professional managers, and where government schemes reach the right person at the right time. This is the vision behind a new partnership between the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur, Tata Motors Foundation (TMF), and the Government of Maharashtra.

The three organizations have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch IVDP 2.0 (Integrated Village Development Programme 2.0). The goal is simple: to turn rural Maharashtra into a model of success using modern management techniques.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Bhimaraya Metri (Director, IIM Nagpur) and Vinod Kulkarni (CEO, Tata Motors Foundation). The ceremony took place in the presence of Priya Khan from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Government of Maharashtra, and Prof. Anoop Kumar, IAS (Retd.) and currently Professor of Practice at IIM Nagpur. On this momentous occasion, Col. Makarand Alur (CAO, IIM Nagpur) and Prof. Neelkanth Dhone were also present.

While the Tata Motors Foundation provides the funding and the government provides administrative support and leadership, IIM Nagpur will serve as the Knowledge Partner for the project. Additionally, IIM Nagpur will work alongside YASHADA (the State’s training institute) to train field staff, ensuring that government schemes reach the doorsteps of the underprivileged without delay.

Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, stated: “We don’t want our expertise to stay only inside classrooms. Through this initiative, IIM Nagpur is going directly to the doorsteps of farmers and rural families. We are bringing world-class management to the village level to ensure every child gets a better education and every farmer gets better support”.

Mr. Vinod Kulkarni noted that to enhance the quality and scientific rigor of this initiative, they are seeking IIM Nagpur’s engagement in providing inputs to strengthen and refine the planning process for Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) formulation, validating the final GPDPs, and undertaking a comprehensive impact assessment after three years of implementation.

Prof. Anoop Kumar added that the institute’s role is to ensure these villages become self-reliant. “We are creating a ‘success formula’ that can be used to develop any village in India, starting right here in Maharashtra”.

Priya Khan emphasized the State Government’s commitment to aligning flagship programs with ground-level needs. “This collaboration ensures that the IVDP 2.0 model remains transparent, efficient, and perfectly aligned with our state’s development priorities”.

In a nationally significant move aligned with India’s clean energy ambitions, the Indian Institute of Management Nagpur and ONGC Green Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on December 20 to collaborate on research, capacity building, and policy-driven initiatives in the field of green and future energy.

The MoU was signed on behalf of IIM Nagpur by its Director, Prof Bhimaraya Metri, and on behalf of ONGC Green Limited by its Chief Operating Officer, Harsh Nupur Joshi.

Senior faculty members of IIM Nagpur Prof. Alok Kumar Singh, Dean – Executive Education Programmes and Prof. Nikunj Kumar Jain, Chairperson of the Executive MBA in Energy Management, were present. On behalf of the ONGC, Deepak Kumar, GM (Electrical), was present.

Speaking on the occasion, Joshi said the energy sector is undergoing a rapid transformation. “Our aim is to work together to support India’s net-zero target by 2070. We intend to take up projects in energy storage, biofuels, and future energy solutions such as green hydrogen, which is going to be a game changer for India,” he said.

Dr. Metri said that India’s progress in green energy is being closely observed globally. “The world will be watching India’s initiatives towards sustainable and green energy. IIM Nagpur is proud to be associated with ONGC Green in this important national mission. Through this collaboration, we aim to contribute research, leadership, and policy insights that can shape India’s future energy ecosystem,” he said.

Under the MoU, the two institutions will jointly work on key areas such as environmental sustainability and ESG frameworks, renewable energy integration into power systems, carbon and green credit markets, energy storage, e-mobility policies, and leadership development. The collaboration will combine IIM Nagpur’s academic and policy expertise with ONGC Green’s operational experience in the renewable energy sector.

The outcomes of this partnership are expected to directly benefit common citizens by supporting cleaner and more reliable power, promoting affordable and sustainable energy solutions, generating green jobs, and contributing to healthier living conditions. By strengthening India’s green energy ecosystem, the IIM Nagpur–ONGC Green collaboration aims to play a meaningful role in meeting the country’s future energy needs while ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth.

ONGC Green is the renewable energy arm of Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, leading the organisation’s ambitious plan to achieve 10 GW of green energy capacity by 2030 through solar, wind, energy storage, biofuels, and green hydrogen projects. The partnership with IIM Nagpur is expected to provide strong academic and policy support to these efforts, while also contributing to India’s broader goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.

नागपुर, 10 दिसंबर: वन प्रशासन को अधिक सक्षम बनाने और सरकारी सेवाओं का लाभ आम जनता तक अधिक प्रभावी तरीके से पहुंचाने हेतु भारतीय प्रबंध संस्थान (आईआईएम) नागपुर और चंद्रपुर वन प्रशासन, विकास एवं प्रबंधन अकैडमी (सीएफए) के बीच बुधवार को एक महत्वपूर्ण समझौता (MoU) किया गया। इस समझौते के तहत आईआईएम नागपुर वन क्षेत्र में कार्यरत अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों को आधुनिक प्रबंधन, नेतृत्व कौशल, संवाद कौशल, सार्वजनिक नीति विश्लेषण और सतत विकास से संबंधित प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करेगा। इसका सीधा लाभ नागरिकों और जंगलों पर निर्भर रहने वाले समुदायों को मिलेगा।

सीएफए की ओर से महाराष्ट्र वन्यजीव विभाग के प्रधान मुख्य वनसंरक्षक एम.एस. रेड्डी ने तथा आईआईएम नागपुर की ओर से निदेशक प्रो. भीमराया मेत्री ने समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इस अवसर पर सीएफए के प्राचार्य एवं अतिरिक्त निदेशक उमेश वर्मा तथा आईआईएम नागपुर के प्रो. अनूप कुमार और कार्यकारी शिक्षा कार्यक्रमों के अधिष्ठाता प्रो. आलोक कुमार सिंह उपस्थित थे।

समझौते के महत्व पर बोलते हुए प्रो. मेत्री ने कहा कि इस सहयोग से तैयार होने वाले शैक्षणिक कार्यक्रम राष्ट्र के सर्वांगीण विकास में योगदान देंगे। उन्होंने कहा, “यदि वन अधिकारियों की नेतृत्व क्षमता और प्रबंधन कौशल मजबूत होगा, तो वन संसाधनों का बेहतर नियोजन संभव होगा। इससे ग्रामीण नागरिकों का सशक्तिकरण होगा, पर्यावरण संबंधी समस्याओं के समाधान में मदद मिलेगी और निरंतर विकास के लक्ष्य साधना भी सरल होगा। इस साझेदारी से सुशासन का सीधा लाभ आम लोगों तक पहुंचेगा।”

एम.एस. रेड्डी ने समझौते का महत्त्व बताते हुए कहा कि इसका सीधा संबंध आम जनजीवन से है। उन्होंने कहा, “आज वानिकी केवल संरक्षण तक सीमित नहीं है। आईआईएम नागपुर के प्रबंधन विशेषज्ञों से प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त करने वाले हमारे अधिकारी अधिक वैज्ञानिक, पारदर्शी और जनकेंद्रित तरीके से काम कर सकेंगे। इसका प्रत्यक्ष लाभ नागरिकों और वन पर निर्भर समुदायों को मिलेगा।”

सहयोग के शैक्षणिक स्वरूप की जानकारी देते हुए प्रा अनूप कुमार ने बताया कि दोनों संस्थान मिलकर प्राकृतिक संसाधन प्रबंधन, नेतृत्व विकास, टीम बिल्डिंग, सततता और वन आधारित उद्यमिता को शामिल करते हुए प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम तैयार कर रहे हैं। ये कार्यक्रम ऑनलाइन और ऑफलाइन दोनों पद्धतियों के मिश्रण से बनाए जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा, “हमारा उद्देश्य अधिकारियों की निर्णय क्षमता बढ़ाना और वन क्षेत्र में रहने वाले लोगों के साथ उनके समन्वय को मजबूत करना है। इन कार्यक्रमों में वन अधिकारी, कर्मचारी और इस क्षेत्र में काम करने वाले अन्य लोग भी भाग ले सकेंगे। प्रशिक्षण का एक भाग नागपुर में आईआईएम में और दूसरा भाग चंद्रपुर में अकैडमी में होगा। इसके अलावा, ऑनलाइन माध्यम से विभिन्न क्षेत्रों के विशेषज्ञ भी मार्गदर्शन देंगे।”

समझौते के तहत प्रशिक्षण, अनुसंधान, परामर्श परियोजनाएं, सार्वजनिक नीति, सतत वानिकी, पर्यावरणीय सेवाओं की योजना तथा अन्य संबंधित गतिविधियों पर दोनों संस्थान मिलकर काम करेंगे। साथ ही विद्यार्थियों, प्रशिक्षुओं और विशेषज्ञों का आदान-प्रदान भी किया जाएगा।

महाराष्ट्र वन विभाग के अंतर्गत कार्यरत सीएफए एक स्वायत्त संस्था है, जो वानिकी, पर्यावरण, प्राकृतिक संसाधन प्रबंधन और जलवायु परिवर्तन के क्षेत्र में शिक्षा और अनुसंधान को बढ़ावा देती है। आईआईएम नागपुर के साथ हुए इस सहयोग से वन प्रशासन मजबूत होगा, ग्रामीण समुदायों की आजीविका के नए अवसर विकसित होंगे, सरकारी कार्यप्रणाली की दक्षता बढ़ेगी और सतत विकास के प्रयास अधिक प्रभावी रूप से जनता तक पहुंचेंगे, ऐसी आशा व्यक्त की जा रही है।
