The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) hosted an inspiring session with Shri Anil Swarup, retired IAS officer and renowned author, where he shared valuable reflections on leadership, perseverance, and the challenges faced by those serving in the government sector. With his trademark wit—blending idioms, shayaris, and moments of humor—Shri Swarup captivated the audience while addressing the practical realities of transforming ideas into actionable outcomes.

Drawing from his extensive administrative career, Shri Swarup emphasized that progress is often hindered by political, social, administrative, financial, technological, judicial, and environmental hurdles. However, he highlighted that the key to overcoming these obstacles lies in focusing on our karma—acting with sincerity, resilience, and unwavering commitment. He advised the younger generation to view failures as opportunities for learning, stressing that fear of failure is natural but should not deter progress. Instead, resilience, continuous learning, and integrity are what ultimately strengthen character and lead to success.

The session concluded with a powerful message: perseverance and ethical conduct can turn setbacks into stepping stones. Shri Swarup’s insights, coupled with his rich experience—from transforming the coal sector to pioneering welfare initiatives—offered a motivating blueprint for aspiring bureaucrats. The event was further enriched with the launch of his book, “Encounters with Politicians,” which he autographed for attendees, inspiring future leaders to uphold the values of good governance and citizen-centric service. At the outset, Sh. Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh ,Director General & CEO, IICA,

warmly welcomed Shri Anil Swarup. The event was attended by the Faculty, Staff, and students of PGIP and LLM (IICA). He presented his book “Encounters with Politicians” with an autograph
