The India Research Tour 2025 is a national initiative led by Springer Nature in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and ICSSR and is set to cover 29 institutions across 15 cities in 7 states between6 October and 13 November 2025.It will engage with researchers, policymakers, and academia enroute focusing on advancing Open Access and Open Science, strengthening research integrity, encouraging e-book adoption, supporting editorial board member recruitment, and promoting diversity and inclusion in research.

The team met with academicians, researchers and students at the Bennett University, Sharda University, and Jaypee Institute of Information Technology. Following these engagements in Greater Noida, the tour will travel onwards to Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow.

Speaking on the occasion, Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi, Managing Director, Springer Nature India Private Limited, said:

यह दौरा अब झारखंड में आगे बढ़ेगा और राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (NIT), जमशेदपुर और भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (IIT – भारतीय खान विद्यालय), धनबाद के शोधकर्ताओं से मुलाकात करेगा। NIT जमशेदपुर तकनीकी नवाचार और उद्योग से जुड़े शोध का एक प्रमुख केंद्र बन चुका है, जबकि IIT (ISM) धनबाद खनन, पृथ्वी विज्ञान और सतत संसाधन प्रबंधन के क्षेत्र में झारखंड को वैश्विक पहचान दिला रहा है। ये संस्थान मिलकर दिखाते हैं कि झारखंड कैसे औद्योगिक विकास, पर्यावरण संरक्षण और राज्य की विकास प्राथमिकताओं के लिए महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्रों में शोध क्षमता विकसित कर रहा है।

स्प्रिंगर नेचर द्वारा शिक्षा मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के सहयोग से आयोजित ‘इंडिया रिसर्च टूर 2025’ की औपचारिक शुरुआत 6 अक्टूबर 2025 को नई दिल्ली स्थित भारतीय सामाजिक विज्ञान अनुसंधान परिषद (ICSSR) में की गई।

इसकी शुरुआत के बाद से, यह टूर उत्तर प्रदेश के कई शहरों- ग्रेटर नोएडा, लखनऊ, कानपुर और वाराणसी का दौरा कर चुका है, जहाँ इसने विभिन्न संस्थानों के शोधकर्ताओं के साथ संवाद और सहभागिता स्थापित की।

यह टूर 7 राज्यों के 15 शहरों में 29 संस्थानों का दौरा कर रहा है। इसमें शोधकर्ता, नीति निर्माता और शिक्षा से जुड़े लोग शामिल हैं। इसका मुख्य उद्देश्य शोध को मजबूत बनाना, ओपन एक्सेस और ओपन साइंस को बढ़ावा देना, ई-बुक के इस्तेमाल को बढ़ाना, संपादकीय बोर्ड में नए सदस्यों को जोड़ना और शोध में विविधता व समावेशिता को बढ़ावा देना है।

पटना में चर्चा का मुख्य केंद्र बिहार के शोध संस्थानों की भारत के विकास एजेंडा में भूमिका रही। इसमें यह बताया गया कि कैसे कृषि, इंजीनियरिंग और प्रौद्योगिकी जैसे क्षेत्रों में स्थानीय शोध क्षेत्रीय चुनौतियों का समाधान करते हुए राष्ट्रीय प्राथमिकताओं को भी पूरा कर सकता है।

The event was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Shri Durgadas Uikey, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, as Chief Guest, and Professor K. Ratnabali, Dean, Academic Affairs, University of Delhi as Guest of Honour. The event, brought together eminent scholars, policymakers, and students to honour the unparalleled legacy of Birsa Munda and his enduring message of indigenous rights, ecological justice, and national pride.

Professor Virender Bhardwaj, Principal of Shivaji College, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the significance of Birsa Munda’s revolutionary call for “Ulgulan” (rebellion) not only as resistance to colonial exploitation but as an assertion of tribal dignity, indigenous culture and ecological harmony.

Hon’ble Shri Durgadas Uikey, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, as Chief Guest, lauded the seminar’s theme and highlighted how the government is committed to tribal empowerment and recognition of Janjatiya heritage. He reflected on the declaration of 15th November as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas and stressed the importance of honouring the cultural and ecological wisdom of tribal communities.

Professor Prasanna K. Samal, Birsa Munda Chair Professor at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, delivered the keynote address. He portrayed Birsa Munda as a multi-faceted historical figure —revered as a freedom fighter, spiritual leader, social reformer, and ecological conservationist. He highlighted Birsa’s contributions to tribal identity, gender equality, religious reform, and environmental protection, noting that tribal communities are natural custodians of culture and biodiversity.

The invited speaker session began with Professor S. M. Patnaik, Director, Centre for Tribal Studies, University of Delhi, who spoke on the colonial misrepresentation of tribal identity and emphasized India’s heritage of coexistence. He emphasized India’s historical approach of coexistence, using the Bonda community as an example of ecological harmony and women-led cultural continuity. He contrasted consumerism’s superficiality with the deep contentment of tribal life and noted how Birsa Munda’s inclusive ethos embodied unity and sustainability.

Professor Iyatta Maharana Uprety, Principal of Sikkim Government College, Burtuk, shared her experience with the Vidya Vistar Scheme and its impact on student opportunities nationwide. She emphasized the link between social geography and environmental harmony, urging greater attachment to nature. Highlighting Birsa Munda’s fight for tribal land rights, cultural identity, and social reform, she praised his rejection of harmful practices and advocacy for self-reliance. She welcomed the recognition of his legacy through the commemoration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on 15th November.

The technical sessions featured over 30 paper presentations across six themes, covering Birsa Munda’s leadership and resistance, preservation of tribal heritage, and contemporary governance challenges. Presenters explored youth activism, cultural identity, literature, media representation, and sacred ecological worldviews. These sessions fostered rich academic dialogue, highlighting tribal contributions to India’s history, culture, and sustainable development.

The Valedictory Session featured Professor K. Ratnabali, Dean, Academic Affairs, University of Delhi, as the Guest of Honour. She emphasized the urgent need to document tribal culture, preserve sacred spaces, and integrate them into policy frameworks. Highlighting Birsa Munda’s legacy of empowerment and self‑respect, she underscored the vulnerability of tribal communities amid resource extraction and disintegration of traditional networks. Professor Ratnabali commended Shivaji College for fostering research on traditional knowledge and ethnomedicine and other such fields through this seminar. She appreciated Shivaji College’s initiative to highlight traditional knowledge and ethnomedicine and noted that such programs provide valuable opportunities for students to pursue meaningful research align well with the National Education Policy (NEP).

Prof. Virender Bhardwaj expressed gratitude to Prof. K. Ratnabali for her contribution to NEP implementation and Dr. S. Hangzo for her efforts in making the event a success. He emphasized the importance of seminars that inspire research rooted in culture and promote a conscientious approach to progress. Highlighting the sustainable knowledge of tribal communities and Birsa Munda’s legacy of resistance and empowerment, he called for regular academic engagements for NEP’s fourth-year students. Bengaluru, 14^th May 2025: In a major step toward realizing the goals of  Vision Viksit Bharat@2047, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), a leading business school in India, hosted a national seminar titled “Empowering Rural Women through Digital Inclusion: The Role of NGOs” under the prestigious Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICSSR). The seminar brought together experts, policymakers, development professionals, and grassroots change-makers to discuss how digital equity can accelerate women’s empowerment in rural India.

The event commenced with an insightful inaugural address by Dr. Neelam Gupta, President & CEO, AROH Foundation, along with Mr. Madhuban Pandey, Co-Founder & CEO, SCORE Livelihood Foundation. The keynote speech covered topics like “The importance of digital equity for rural women”, “Current government initiatives and policies”, and “NGOs as facilitators of digital inclusion”.

Organisations like Hand in Hand India, Resham Sutra, and the Grameen Foundation presented inspiring examples of women leveraging digital literacy to launch micro-enterprises, access government schemes, and connect with broader markets. Through personal stories, the session highlighted how access to digital tools has powered women to achieve financial independence. It also underscored the significant role NGOs play in providing digital mentorship.

The day continued with two engaging in-depth panel discussions. The first, “NGOs as Catalysts for Digital Equity,” explored how NGOs and Self Help Groups are designing tailored programs to bridge the digital divide and foster community-driven adoption of technology. The second panel, “The Future of Digital Inclusion: AI, FinTech, and Beyond,” delved into emerging technologies such as AI-driven tools, mobile banking, UPI, and microfinance apps that are revolutionizing financial access for rural women. Panellists also raised critical ethical questions about digital expansion, including data privacy, accessibility, and ensuring that technological growth remains inclusive and equitable.

A special segment on “BIMTECH’s Contribution towards a More Inclusive and Sustainable World, through their ongoing European Union funded project KODECET, and AIDEdu” was also presented along with a workshop on “Using ISDM Data Sight”. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks, certificate distribution, and open-floor reflections. Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions and informal networking, celebrating the shared mission of digital empowerment for women.
