										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A seminar on SEBI Compliance, organized by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi, was inaugurated by Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE, along with CA Anuj Goyal, Central Council Member, ICAI. Attended by over 60 participants from 30 PSEs and addressed by domain &amp; industry experts, the seminar aimed at equipping participants with insights into decoding SEBI compliance on listing obligation and disclosure requirements, amendments (LODR 2.0) and their practical implementation into corporate strategy and reporting.</p>
<p>This seminar marks another step in SCOPE and ICAI’s joint commitment to enhancing financial acumen and promoting sustainability practices within Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).</p>

<p>The MoU was signed in the presence of CA Prasanna Kumar D., Vice President, ICAI; CA Rajesh Sharma, Vice Chairman, CMI&amp;B, ICAI; Shri Lokesh Kumar Aggarwal, Member, Executive Board, SCOPE and Director (Finance), ITDC; CA (Dr.) Jai Kumar Batra, Secretary, ICAI and other senior officials from SCOPE and ICAI. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Bengaluru, 30th September 2024:</strong> In the wake of recent incidents highlighting the tragic consequences of excessive work pressures faced by professionals, including Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) reaffirms its commitment to addressing the urgent need for work-life balance and stress management within the profession. The increasing demands placed on professionals across industries have raised widespread concerns regarding the detrimental effects of high-pressure environments on personal health and professional efficiency.</p>
<p>To tackle the rising concerns around work-life pressures, ICAI has formed a dedicated group headed by Mrs. Seema Gerotra, Additional Director on Work-Life Balance &amp; Stress Management to introduce measures aimed at improving work-life balance and managing stress within the profession.</p>
<p>Addressing this pressing issue, <strong>CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President, ICAI</strong> emphasizes the importance of employee well-being for multinational corporations and organizations. He stated, “<em>Employees are the backbone of any organization, and their well-being is essential to its long-term success. We strongly urge Organisations to implement balanced work policies that promote employee health and reduce stress. By prioritizing the mental and physical well-being of their workforce, organizations can foster a more productive, resilient, and innovative environment.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>ICAI has long recognized the challenges of stressful work conditions and has proactively implemented various measures to support the well-being of its members and students. The Institute has organized numerous health and wellness programs, including health awareness camps, webinars on stress management, yoga sessions, motivational conferences, walkathons, marathons, all aimed at promoting mental and physical wellness. ICAI remains committed to the holistic well-being of Chartered Accountants, both professionally and personally. A Grievance Redressal Cell is already in place to address concerns from members, students, and employees, with efforts underway to enhance the system for more structured and empathetic resolutions.</p>
<p>In addition to the above, ICAI has introduced further initiatives to promote a healthy work environment for its members and employees.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Work-Life Balance Awareness Programs &amp; Mental and Physical Wellness Campaigns</strong>: ICAI will continue to conduct regular workshops, webinars, and awareness campaigns promoting physical activity, mindfulness, and emotional well-being with a focus on managing professional commitments while maintaining a balanced personal life.</li>
<li><strong>Comprehensive Stress Management Initiatives</strong>: ICAI, in collaboration with health institutions, will introduce stress management programs, including counselling services and mental health support for members and students.</li>
<li><strong>Collaboration with Industry</strong>: ICAI will work with industry partners to promote flexible work models such as remote working, flexible hours, and wellness programs, helping members balance their professional and personal commitments.</li>
<li><strong>Peer Support Networks</strong>: ICAI will develop peer support networks where members can share experiences, seek advice, and collaborate to address challenges related to stress management.</li>
<li><strong>Special Counselling Helpline</strong>: ICAI plans to introduce a counselling help desk within its National Call Centre (9997599975) dedicated to assisting members with stress management and work-life balance concerns.</li>
</ul>
<p>Addressing work-life balance is an ongoing endeavor that demands sustained focus and collaboration. ICAI is committed to fostering a supportive professional environment that prioritizes the health and well-being of its members and employees, ensuring they thrive both personally and professionally.</p>

With the theme “सशक्त CA &#8211; विकसित भारत,” the conference highlighted the profession&#8217;s commitment to innovation, governance, integrity, trust, and excellence. The two-day event featured a dynamic lineup of insightful sessions led by distinguished speakers like <strong>Shri Dinesh Kumar Khara,</strong> Chairman of the State Bank of India; <strong>Shri Ashwani Bhatia</strong>, whole Time Member of SEBI<strong>; CA. Suresh Prabhu, Former Union Minister; CA. Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce &amp; Industry; Shri Anupam Mittal, </strong>CEO of People Group<strong>; CA. Anand Rathi, </strong>Chairman of Anand Rathi Financial Services Limited, among other distinguished dignitaries.</p>
<p>The second day of the Conference was graced by the esteemed Presence of the <strong>Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra,</strong> <strong>Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan </strong>along with <strong>CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal,</strong> President, ICAI and Central Council Members of ICAI. Also present were <strong>CA. Ankit Rathi, Chairman</strong>,<strong> WIRC; CA. Gautam Lath, Secretary, WIRC</strong> and other Regional Council Members and office bearers of WIRC of ICAI.</p>
<p><strong>Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, Governor of Maharashtra</strong>, during his keynote address said, <em>“Chartered Accountants are more than just financial experts, they are educators and the essential link between government, industry, and society. The profession of CA is entrusted with the responsibility to educate and guide clients, whether they are leading Indian corporations, global multinationals, MSMEs or small businesses. CAs are the architects of India&#8217;s economic future, playing a crucial role in nation-building. By bridging gaps, driving compliance, and fostering growth, CAs are not just contributors but key partners in shaping a prosperous and developed India.”</em></p>
<p><strong>CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President ICAI</strong>, during his Presidential address said,<em>“ICAI is the world’s largest accounting body, with over 4 Lakh Chartered Accountants and 9.5 lakh students across the country. The Western India Regional Council, being the largest council of the institute, represents 1.3 lakh members, and its contributions are pivotal in shaping the profession. The increasing participation of women in our field, with 44% of our 9.5 lakh students being female, is a testament to the inclusive growth we are witnessing. Our commitment to robust examination standards has been applauded by the Supreme Court on many occasions. Our</em><em>forward-thinking initiatives in </em><em>non-financial reporting and integrating AI into our profession are making our professionals future ready.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>President, ICAI further added, “<em>As we continue to upgrade and upskill, particularly in areas like AI and non-financial reporting standards, we must recognize the immense responsibility and opportunity that lie ahead. Chartered Accountants will be at the forefront of making India a developed nation by 2047. Our efforts in taxation, compliance, and support for MSMEs are the backbone of the nation&#8217;s financial health. As we look towards &#8216;Viksit Bharat @2047,&#8217; it is clear that Chartered Accountants will play a crucial role in driving India&#8217;s economic growth. Our profession is giving a new dimension to the economy and ensuring that India emerges as a global hub of the accounting profession.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>The second day featured panel discussions and insightful sessions on varied topics like artificial intelligence applied to sustainability; Chartered Accountants as Leaders: Navigating Beyond Numbers; The Startup Gold Rush &#8211; Castles in Air or Realistic Valuations? What is really driving the Stock Markets? (Fundamentals / Sentiments /Liquidity); Brand Creation &amp; New Age social media; Offshore opportunities for Indian Chartered Accountants and more.</p>
<p>The 38th Regional Conference of WIRC of ICAI marked the successful end of a two-day event that showcased the evolving role of Chartered Accountants as key contributors to India&#8217;s economic development. <p><strong>Bengaluru, 26th March 2024:</strong> The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) while celebrating its 75 years of formation hosted a two-day Strategic meet at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Jaipur on 21st and 22nd March, bringing together ICAI Past Presidents and Central Council Members discussing around the pivotal role of Chartered Accountants in <strong>Viksit Bharat @2047 </strong>and outlining a roadmap for the next 25 years for the profession when ICAI approaches its centenary milestone.</p>
<p>ICAI will be coming out with a Vision Document 2049 that will intricately focus on various facets such as the Development of Students and Members, Strengthening Regulatory and Reporting Mechanism, Embracing new-age technological advancements such as AI, Contribution of CAs in the growth and development of the Country, Enabling Sustainability ecosystem, Strengthening Research studies across diverse areas including accounting, assurance, taxation, finance, technology, and business advisory services, all aimed at bolstering the economic development of the nation.</p>
<p>On this occasion, <strong>CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President ICAI</strong>, along with <strong>CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice-President, ICAI</strong> interacted with the media in Jaipur and shared major highlights of the meeting.</p>
<p>Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President ICAI said,<em>“We are excited about the future of ICAI as we celebrate 75 years of excellence and look ahead to our centenary milestone. Our Strategic meeting at the Centre of Excellence in Jaipur focused on &#8216;Viksit Bharat 2047 and the role of Chartered Accountants,&#8217; highlighting our commitment to shaping India&#8217;s financial landscape. With a strong focus on technology, skill-building, and sustainable practices, ICAI is poised for continued growth and innovation. Our upcoming Vision Document 2049 will pave the way for the next 25 years of empowering our members and contributing to a greener, more sustainable financial sector. Our commitment to growth is reflected in our expanding network of Centers of Excellence  which will equip the next generation of CAs with essential technology and skills”</em></p>
<p>He further informed that in order to leverage the technological advancement for the benefit of members, students and employees, for the first time, ICAI has formed a Committee on <strong>“AI in ICAI”</strong> aimed at harnessing AI&#8217;s potential for professional development and operational efficiency. In addition to technological advancements, ICAI emphasized its commitment towards strengthening the sustainable ecosystem of the country. He stressed that Sustainability Standards being developed by the ICAI will drive environmental accountability and corporate compliance in the years to come, reflecting ICAI&#8217;s dedication to sustainable business practices.</p>
<p>Additionally, ICAI announced its expansion plans for its Centre of Excellence (CoE) network across India. With existing CoEs in Hyderabad and Jaipur, ICAI aims to establish 9 more additional CoEs across India in the next 3 years. This strategic expansion will bolster advanced learning, research, and development opportunities for accounting professionals nationwide.</p>
<p>The Institute&#8217;s proactive approach towards embracing technology and sustainability reflects its commitment to excellence and innovation that aligns with the national goal of India becoming a developed nation by 2047. The discussions also underscored the critical role of financial services in this strategic roadmap, recognizing it as an integral component of India&#8217;s development journey.</p>
