More then 25 people have died so far in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains. A flood alert was issued in parts of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh as the Yamuna and other rivers neared the danger mark. National Highway-3 between Manali and Kullu has been damaged due to heavy rainfall.

In Uttarakhand, three people were killed and 22 are reported missing following a cloudburst.

Heavy rain hit parts of Rajasthan over the weekend. The highest rainfall in Rajasthan – 14 and 8 inches – was recorded on Saturday in Nagaur and Parbatsar, respectively. Ajmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner also received heavy rain. Out of the 810 dams in the state, over 210 are overflowing due to heavy rain.

The Delhi Government has called for an emergency meeting of concerned officials after water levels of the Yamuna river rose in the national capital. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will chair the meeting.Water level of Yamuna River recorded at 204.70 meters today (the warning level is at 204.50 meters), after more than 8 lakh cusecs of water released from Hathni Kund barrage. Delhi Govt has issued orders for evacuation, Civil Defence volunteers have been deployed.

150 Tourists Rescued In Lahaul-Spiti District
Around 150 tourists, including foreigners, were rescued from Chhota Dara, Chhatru and Gramphu areas of Lahaul-Spiti district, today after a road was washed away due to heavy rain. Around 400 tourists are still stuck between the road in Keylong and Sissu due to a landslide

Heavy rains in Mumbai ,Passengers stuck LTT

Heavy rains in Mumbai and adjoining regions crippled normal life for the 3RD consecutive day .

At least eight persons died in rain-related incidents in Mumbai, Pune and Palghar districts while a man is missing after he fell into a swollen nullah in Dharavi in Central Mumbai in Sunday afternoon.

The day of wet spell witnessed at least two rescue operations by the Indian Air Force (IAF) with Mi 17 choppers. In the first operation, at least 58 people, including 16 children, stranded at Ju-Nandkhuri village in Khadavli area in Thane district were rescued from their water-logged homes.

Hundreds of passengers were stranded at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) railway station on Sunday after the Central Railway announced the cancellation and diversion of trains due to the heavy rainfall and water-logging in Mumbai.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Ward officer distributed food packages and tea to the stranded passengers at the LTT railway station.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the intensity of rainfall will continue for the next 24 hours. BMC announced that schools and colleges in Mumbai will remain closed today to ensure that students are not put at risk due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall.

The Mumbai University has postponed the exam for students of open learning that was scheduled for today.

“University has postponed its exams for students of open learning, scheduled for 5th August, in view of forecast of heavy rains,” said Vinod Malale, Mumbai University Public Relations Officer (PRO).

Schools and colleges will be also be closed in Palghar, Thane, Raigad, and Mumbai suburbs today.

“Due to the IMD warning for tomorrow, holiday declared for schools and colleges in Mumbai & MMR, Palghar, Thane, Raigad districts,” chief minister’s office tweeted.

About 150 students of MIT College Pune, who were stranded due to water-logging inside the college building, were shifted to a safe place by a team of fire brigade on Sunday.
