· Added 100 LNG trucks, doubling fleet to 200 and cutting long-haul CO₂ emissions significantly

Bengaluru, 4th August 2025: Hindustan Zinc Limited (BSE: 500188 & NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest and India’s only integrated zinc producer, has launched one of India’s largest green logistics transitions in partnership with GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., an Essar venture and the country’s leading green logistics operator. This collaboration marks a pivotal step in Hindustan Zinc’s accelerated push towards achieving 100% decarbonization of its supply chain through the deployment of advanced electric (EV) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) trucks.

This expansion marks a major step forward in Hindustan Zinc’s pursuit of Net Zero emissions, enabled by the widespread integration of EVs and LNG trucks throughout its supply chain.

As part of this strategic collaboration, GreenLine will invest ₹400 crore to deploy 100 Electric Trucks, replacing diesel vehicles for inter-unit concentrate movement between the company’s mines and smelters, and establish India’s first commercial-scale battery swapping infrastructure with 3 high-capacity stations for 24×7 operations, while also expanding Hindustan Zinc’s LNG fleet by adding 100 new LNG trucks, doubling the fleet size to 200 for long-haul finished goods transport.

Arun Misra, CEO Hindustan Zinc Limited, stated, “At Hindustan Zinc, we are unwavering in our commitment to pioneering sustainable practices and believe the future of manufacturing is green. This large-scale deployment of EVs and LNG trucks, a bold step in our journey to net zero, solidifies our dedication to driving meaningful impact through innovative green logistics solutions and strategic partnerships, shaping a cleaner, more sustainable supply chain.”

This expansion will deliver cost efficiencies through discounted freight rates and is estimated to reduce approximately 236 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions per month, equivalent to planting around 12,000 trees. Combined, this initiative is expected to reduce about 1,50,000 tonnes of Scope 3 emissions annually, further advancing Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to become net zero by 2050 or sooner & supporting India’s green growth ambitions.

Anand Mimani CEO of GreenLine, said, “Clean transport isn’t a future option, it’s today’s responsibility. This deployment with Hindustan Zinc powerfully reflects our shared urgency to decarbonize logistics at scale, setting a scalable model for industrial decarbonization across sectors. With our LNG and EV fleet, manufactured by Blue Energy Motors, we’re bringing together innovation, sustainability, and real-world impact in a way that’s practical and powerful for industry.”

Recognized as the world’s most sustainable company in metals & mining sector by S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024, Hindustan Zinc recently announced its ambitious 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The goals cover ambitious targets spanning various thematic areas such as climate change, water stewardship, biodiversity conservation, responsible sourcing, circular economy, workforce diversity and social impact. The company has committed to achieving 50% reduction of Scope 1 and 2 emissions and 25% reduction of Scope 3 emissions from the 2020 baseline.

GreenLine currently operates over 650 LNG trucks, serving clients across FMCG, e-commerce, metals & mining, cement, oil & gas, and chemicals. Its fleet has covered more than 50 million kilometres, cutting over 14,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The company plans to expand to more than 10,000 clean trucks, supported by a nationwide network of 100 LNG refuelling stations, EV charging hubs, and battery swapping facilities — an integrated green mobility ecosystem aiming to cut carbon emissions by up to 1 million tonnes annually.

Enters next phase of growth in green mobility

Bengaluru | May 07th, 2025: GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., an Essar venture and India’s only green logistics operator of LNG and electric-powered heavy commercial trucks, today flagged off a new fleet of LNG-powered trucks at Chakan, Pune. The deployment is supported by Shriram Finance Limited, one of India’s largest NBFCs and the flagship company of the Shriram Group.

GreenLine continues to lead India’s low-carbon logistics transformation. Its current fleet of over 650 LNG trucks serves marquee companies across sectors such as FMCG and e-commerce, metals and mining, cement, oil and gas, and chemicals. The fleet has already covered more than 40 million kilometres, reducing CO₂ emissions by over 10,000 tonnes.

The company plans to deploy over 10,000 LNG and EV trucks, supported by a nationwide network of 100 LNG refuelling stations, EV charging stations, and battery swapping facilities. This comprehensive initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions by up to 1 million tonnes annually.

This partnership marks a significant step in GreenLine’s ongoing mission to decarbonise India’s transportation sector, which contributes nearly 15% of the country’s total carbon emissions. With over 4 million trucks currently in operation—and the number continuing to grow—India’s road logistics sector remains one of its most carbon-intensive industries. Aligned with the government’s ambitious goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, GreenLine is committed to transitioning the heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) fleet to LNG and EV trucks to promote cleaner, more sustainable transport. With Shriram Finance’s backing, the deployment of these vehicles is faster and more efficient, making green logistics more financially accessible for businesses across the country.

Anand Mimani, CEO, GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., said: “This fleet expansion, supported by Shriram Finance, is a key step towards transforming India’s logistics with sustainable, high-performance solutions. The trucks, manufactured by Blue Energy Motors (BEM), play a critical role in decarbonising the logistics sector and align with our vision for a greener future. With growing investments in LNG and other alternative fuels, we are seeing tangible progress towards reducing India’s carbon footprint.”

Sharvari Prabhu, CFO, GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., added: “As we scale our LNG fleet, the role of strategic financial support becomes increasingly critical. Shriram Finance’s involvement helps us offer viable green alternatives to conventional trucking while supporting India’s broader decarbonisation goals.”

G. M. Jilani, Joint Managing Director, Shriram Finance Limited, commented: “We congratulate Greenline Mobility Solutions on the expansion of their green fleet with the addition of LNG-powered trucks which reinforces their unwavering commitment to sustainable logistics. At Shriram Finance, we’re proud to support this forward-looking initiative, which aligns with our commitment to responsible financing and environmental stewardship. This partnership marks a significant milestone as our first investment in cleaner fuel technology, showcases our commitment to expand our green financing beyond electric mobility, and underscores our resolve to drive meaningful change across the transportation ecosystem. We remain dedicated to driving positive change, accelerate sustainable initiatives and supporting environmentally responsible growth across the transportation sector.”

GreenLine’s LNG-powered trucks are manufactured by Blue Energy Motors (BEM). BEM is a leading manufacturer of LNG-powered trucks, delivering innovative solutions for the logistics industry.
