Spanning 31,984 sq. mtr. and powered by 1,031 solar panels, the installation showcases a space-smart solution for clean energy generation in metro cities

Bengaluru, 12th August 2025: The Energy Solutions business of Godrej Enterprises Group today announced the successful commissioning of its first solar carport installation at a leading IT company in Noida. This landmark project reflects the Group’s commitment to engineering innovative, sustainable infrastructure that supports India’s renewable energy ambitions and the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Spanning 31984 sq. mtr and equipped with over 1,031 high-efficiency solar panels, the carport is designed to generate approximately 7,31,900 kWh (units) annually. It will offset nearly 6,00,158 kg of CO₂ emissions every year which is equivalent to planting over 27568 mature trees. The dual-purpose structure not only provides shaded parking for 400 vehicles but also transforms underutilised urban spaces into renewable energy hubs.

Raghavendra Mirji, Executive Vice President & Business Head, Energy Solutions, a part of Godrej Enterprises said “With cities becoming denser and space growing scarcer, infrastructure must evolve to be both intelligent and sustainable. This solar carport exemplifies our approach to nation building engineering solutions that not only meet the energy needs of urban India but also strengthen its climate resilience. By innovating for renewable adoption in commercial and industrial hubs, we are proud to contribute to India’s journey towards energy independence and a low-carbon economy.”

This initiative directly contributes to India’s target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and reducing the carbon intensity of its economy under the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It aligns with the government’s focus on building resilient, energy-positive cities that can power inclusive economic growth while mitigating climate risks.

As Tier 1 cities grapple with space constraints for large-scale solar installations, solar carports are emerging as a smart and scalable solution for corporates to integrate renewable energy within their existing infrastructure. Godrej’s design seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetics, creating a blueprint for future-ready urban developments.

The project underscores Godrej Enterprises Group’s broader commitment to advancing sustainable technologies and contributing to India’s leadership in clean energy. As India accelerates its transition to a green economy, innovations like these will be pivotal in achieving the dual goals of environmental protection and economic growth, paving the way for a truly Viksit Bharat.
