Centre Notifies First Phase of Census of India 2027

The Union Government has issued the notification for the first phase of the Census of India 2027, marking the commencement of house listing and housing census operations across all States and Union Territories. As per the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, house listing activities will be carried out between April 1 and September 30, 2026, during a 30-day period to be specified by each State or Union Territory. The notification also provides for self-enumeration, which will be available for a period of 15 days prior to the start of house-to-house listing, in accordance with schedules notified by the respective States and Union Territories.

The Census of India 2027 will be conducted in two phases and will be the first fully digital census in the country, with data collection carried out through mobile applications available on both Android and iOS platforms. Around 30 lakh field functionaries, including enumerators, supervisors, trainers and census officers, will be deployed for data collection, monitoring and supervision. The first phase will cover houselisting and housing census from April to September 2026, while the second phase of population enumeration will be conducted in February 2027. For the Union Territory of Ladakh and snow-bound, non-synchronous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, population enumeration will be undertaken in September 2026. Earlier, the Union Cabinet had approved the conduct of Census 2027 with an estimated cost of Rs. 11,718.24 crore, and the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs had also decided to include caste enumeration in the upcoming census.

NHAI Achieves Two Guinness World Records on Bengaluru–Vijayawada Expressway Project

VIJAYWADA. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has achieved two Guinness World Records during the construction of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Expressway in Andhra Pradesh by laying 28.95 lane-kilometres and 10,675 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete continuously within a span of 24 hours. The achievement, executed through M/s Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd. on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G), was announced by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, who described it as a proud moment for the State and the nation, highlighting adherence to stringent NHAI quality standards and the dedication of engineers, workers and field teams.

The Chief Minister further stated that the milestone reflects the Government of India’s vision and the sustained emphasis on world-class highway infrastructure under the leadership of the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, adding that two additional Guinness World Records are proposed to be attempted by January 11, 2026, on other packages of the corridor. Developed under Bharatmala Phase-II, the six-lane, access-controlled greenfield expressway is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka by reducing travel time between Amaravati and Bengaluru to nearly six hours, while enabling faster and seamless movement of passengers and freight across key districts of Andhra Pradesh.

केंद्रीय विद्युत एवं आवासन मंत्री मनोहर लाल ने एनएचपीसी के सलाल पावर स्टेशन का अवलोकन किया

माननीय केंद्रीय विद्युत तथा आवासन एवं शहरी कार्य मंत्री श्री मनोहर लाल एवं सचिव (विद्युत), विद्युत मंत्रालय, श्री पंकज अग्रवाल ने एनएचपीसी के सलाल पावर स्टेशन, ज्योतिपुरम, जिला रियासी, जम्मू-कश्मीर केंद्र शासित प्रदेश का अवलोकन किया।

अवलोकन के दौरान मंत्री महोदय ने पावर स्टेशन की परिचालन स्थिति, उत्पादन क्षमता तथा सुरक्षा व्यवस्थाओं की समीक्षा की। उन्होंने परियोजना से संबंधित तकनीकी पहलुओं, आधुनिकीकरण कार्यों एवं भविष्य की योजनाओं की भी जानकारी प्राप्त की।

इस अवसर पर एनएचपीसी के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने सलाल परियोजना की भूमिका, क्षेत्रीय ऊर्जा आपूर्ति में इसके योगदान तथा पर्यावरणीय एवं सामाजिक दायित्वों से जुड़ी पहलों पर प्रस्तुति दी। मंत्री महोदय ने परियोजना से जुड़े अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों के प्रयासों की सराहना करते हुए समयबद्ध और सुरक्षित संचालन पर विशेष बल दिया।
