The objective of the programme was to familiarize the participants regarding the activities of the integrated steel plant and apprise them of required safety precautions to be taken during the training programme.

During the one day orientation programme the students were informed about the historical perspective of RSP, process flow, products and safety rules and guidelines through presentations and audio-visuals. To give an immersive experience to the trainees, a digital walkthrough of complete production chain of the integrated steel plant are being shown through a VR Film to them.

Thereafter they were assigned to different departments where they could learn the functions and prepare project reports under their designated guides. Mr. K K Jaiswal, DGM (L&D) coordinated the overall programme.

Notably, every summer hundreds of students from various branches of Engineering related to the employees of the Steel Plant join the Vacational Training being provided by the Plant and learn the nuances of Steel making. Students from not only Odisha but from all over the country join the course as a part of their internship. Exposure to the technicalities and functioning of a massive integrated steel plant widens the mental horizon of the students and also shapes their outlook in many ways.

The DIC also presented the Performance Awards to departments from four zones and Odisha Group of Mines in recognition of their exemplary performance and outstanding achievements for which the plant has completed the fiscal 2024-25 on a positive note.

From the Iron & Raw Material Zone, the Blast Furnaces was the winner while Raw Material Handling Plant and Coke Ovens jointly bagged the Runners up trophies.

Similarly from the Steel and Auxiliary Zone, Steel Melting Shop-II was the Winner while Power Distribution received the Runners up trophy.

From the Rolling Mill Zone, Hot Strip Mill-2 was the winner whereas Silicon Steel Mill bagged the Runners up award.

Similarly, from the Services Zone, Production Planning & Control was the winner while Safety Engineering Department and Materials Recovery Department were the joint Runners ups.

From Odisha Group of Mines Bolani Ore Mines was adjudged as the winner.

The ACVO elaborated on recurring gaps observed during vigilance reviews and provided insights into best practices and preventive measures to mitigate such issues. The session also included an interactive Q&A, enabling participants to clarify their queries and discuss real-time challenges.

At the outset, Mr. Sandeep Bansal, AGM (Vigilance), made a presentation pertaining to the deficiencies and lacunae in the processing of Purchase Requisitions (PRs), scrutiny of indents, and execution of contracts  and Mr. Harish Agarwal, Manager (Vigilance)  co-ordinated the function.
