-Godrej Jersey signs an MoU to invest INR 150 Crore for setting up a dairy processing facility

Bengaluru, December 9,2025: Creamline Dairy Products Limited, a subsidiary of one of India’s largest and most diversified agribusinesses, Godrej Agrovet, selling products under the brand name Godrej Jersey, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana (GoT) on the sidelines of Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025. The company will invest INR 150 Crore to set up a state-of-the-art dairy processing facility across 40 acres. With this new investment, the Godrej Industries Group’s total investment plans in the state now stands at over INR 10,000 Cr across its different businesses.

Almost 73 per cent of Indians consume less than the recommended dosage of protein every day. With dairy products – milk, curd, paneer, and milk-based drinks – being the most natural sources of protein, this investment will enable Godrej Jersey not only to strengthen the state’s dairy ecosystem but also to deliver products tailored to the evolving nutritional and protein needs of the consumers.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Sri A. Revanth Reddy, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri. Sanjay Kumar, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to the Government Industries & Commerce, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications Department, Government of Telangana; Pirojsha Godrej, Executive Vice Chairperson – Godrej Industries Group; Anand Ramaswamy, Chief Operating Officer, Godrej Jersey and Rakesh Swami, Group President – Corporate Affairs, Godrej Industries Group.

Commenting on the MoU, Shri A. Revanth Reddy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana said, “Telangana is committed to creating an investor-friendly ecosystem that drives inclusive growth. Our partnership with Godrej Industries Group is a testament of the same. From strengthening agri-food processing capabilities to industrial expansion, these investments will generate employment, strengthen our agro and industrial base and position Telangana as a leading investment destination for business in India.”

Pirojsha Godrej, Executive Vice Chairperson, Godrej Industries Group, said,” As a group with a strong presence in the state of Telangana, today’s MoU reflects a shared commitment to accelerating industrial growth, creating employment, and developing high-impact infrastructure under a collaborative public-private approach. From advancing sustainable oil palm cultivation to growing our presence in urban housing to expanding our dairy footprint and enabling MSME growth via digital-first solutions, our partnership with the Government of Telangana is a step toward shaping an inclusive, innovative and resilient future.”

In 2023, Godrej Agrovet had announced an investment of ~INR 300 Crore to set up an Integrated Oil Palm Complex in Khammam district of the state. With a state-of-the-art Crude Palm Oil Mill and an upstream R&D center set to open next year, the complex also has a provision of setting up a refinery in the near future.

Additionally, with quality infrastructure, schools, and lifestyle offerings, making regions in the state highly sought-after for homebuyers, Godrej Properties, part of the Godrej Industries Group, announced its foray into Hyderabad market early this year. With a strong plan of providing citizens with a premium residential offering, Godrej Properties will invest INR 10,000 Crore across four projects.

Sunil Kataria, CEO & MD, Godrej Agrovet Limited, said, “Consumer demand for value-added dairy products in India and also in the state of Telangana is witnessing a double-digit growth. Driven by urban lifestyles, rising health consciousness, and increasing preference for convenience, addressing the protein deficiency for nutritional needs of consumers is also critical. Dairy is one of the most natural sources of protein, and with our expertise of nearly three decades, Godrej Jersey is committed to leading this transformation. Our MoU with the Government of Telangana is a step towards building a facility that will manufacture best-in-class and innovative protein-rich dairy products to meet the evolving nutritional needs while also generating employment opportunities in the state.”

The project is expected to generate over 300 direct employment opportunities over a period of three years.

Rakesh Swami, Group President – Corporate Affairs, Godrej Industries Group, said, “Telangana remains one of India’s most dynamic and investment-forward states, driven by its progressive and business-friendly outlook. Our partnership with the Government of Telangana reflects the Godrej Industries Group’s commitment to advancing inclusive growth—by empowering MSMEs, supporting women entrepreneurs, strengthening the agricultural ecosystem, and developing high-quality homes for the state’s citizens. We look forward to deepening this collaboration and contributing meaningfully to Telangana’s continued progress.”

An innovative solution for controlling grasses and broad-leaved weeds, developed in collaboration with ISK Japan

Bengaluru, August 20, 2025: Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet), one of India’s leading diversified agri-businesses, has launched a new herbicide specifically designed for Maize crops. ‘Ashitaka,’ developed in collaboration with ISK Japan, is an innovative solution that provides effective control over grasses and broad-leaved weeds which is a major challenge faced by maize farmers in India. Weed infestation particularly during the initial growth phases , significantly impact Maize productivity. When applied at the 2 – 4 weed leaf stage, Ashitaka offers effective weed control.

Globally, India ranks 4th in terms of acreage and 5th in terms of annual maize production.[1] With the country’s growing economy and expanding middle class fueling the demand for animal protein, starch and other industrial products that consume maize, over the years, the country has witnessed increase in demand for maize for livestock feed, industrial and biofuel use. However, the sector also faces significant challenges, including limited access to quality seeds and inputs which hinder growth. Climate change poses an additional threat, with its potential to disrupt maize production through extreme weather events, changing rainfall patterns, and increased incidence of pests and diseases. It therefore becomes crucial to bring research driven solutions like Ashitaka to further boost the yield of the crop and maintain its significance.

Speaking on the launch, Rajavelu NK, CEO, Crop Protection Business, Godrej Agrovet said, “At Godrej Agrovet, our mission is to deliver innovative, research-driven solutions that empower Indian farmers and uplift farming families by future-proofing agriculture against environmental and market challenges. Effective weed management during the early stages of crop growth is crucial for maize farmers to achieve better productivity. The launch of Ashitaka, a first-of-its-kind in India, is a step toward providing farmers with a powerful solution to improve yields and enhance profitability.”

Anil Choubey, GM – Marketing, Crop Protection Business, Godrej Agrovet added, ““Ashitaka’s effective weed control in maize reduces crop-weed competition, enabling better use of limited soil moisture and nutrients, and supporting plant health during critical stages like flowering and grain filling. The recommended dosage – 50 ml/acre with 400 ml/acre of surfactant at the 2 – 4 weed leaf stage, helps in controlling the weeds early and also aids in the reduction of weed-related yield losses, which are known to worsen under weather stress. This results in more consistent output, better grain quality, and a strong hedge against income volatility, particularly in rain-fed areas.”

Launched in key maize growing areas of Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to begin with, Godrej Agrovet intends to launch Ashitaka across all maize growing states in the coming months.

Bengaluru, March 21, 2025: Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet), a diversified R&D-focused food and agri-business conglomerate, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) and Godrej DEI Lab, launched the report “Women in Agribusiness – Opportunities and Challenges” at its second Women in Agriculture Summit.

The report reveals that women constitute 64.4 percent of India’s agricultural workforce, yet only 6 percent to 10 percent are employed in top agri and agri-related companies. It outlines actionable measures to foster inclusion, innovation, and equitable growth in agribusiness.

Commenting on the report, Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director, Godrej Agrovet, said, “At Godrej Agrovet, we believe the future of agribusiness lies in empowering women through education, workplace inclusivity, and leadership development. By championing mentorship, aligning skills with industry needs, and fostering inclusive ecosystems, we aim to drive meaningful change and build a resilient, equitable sector.”

He further added, “Last year, we pledged to support 100,000 women across the agri value chain, and I’m proud to share that we’ve positively impacted 20,000 women in just one year. Through training, creating safe spaces and enabling leadership, we are building an empowered agribusiness community.”

Prof. Vidya Vemireddy, Faculty Member, IIMA, noted, “The agricultural landscape in India presents us with a striking paradox: women constitute a significant portion of the agricultural workforce and educational cohorts, yet a major proportion of the graduates do not enter the formal employment structures and leadership positions. This study addresses critical knowledge gaps regarding women’s participation in formal employment relationships within agribusiness enterprises.”

The report provides a roadmap to bridge gender disparities in agriculture. It calls for equitable access to resources, gender-responsive training, and inclusive workplace reforms. Prioritizing education-to-employment transitions, enhancing leadership representation, and leveraging financial and technological tools are highlighted as transformative strategies. Together, these actions aim to empower women and foster equitable growth across the agricultural value chain.

At the summit, Nisaba Godrej, Executive Chairperson of Godrej Consumer Products Limited, and Balram Singh Yadav announced the launch of the Godrej Agrovet Women in Agriculture Scholarship, empowering five students pursuing agricultural studies and fostering the next generation of women leaders.

Mallika Mutreja, Head – Human Resources, Godrej Agrovet, added, “Females account for 30 percent to 40 percent of total enrollment in agricultural studies, yet only 6 percent to 10 percent work in top agri and agri-related companies. This stark gap highlights the need for the industry to take proactive steps to bridge these disparities. By fostering inclusive policies and creating opportunities, it is possible to address this imbalance and also unlock the innovation and resilience that women bring to the sector, driving its sustainable growth.”

“At Godrej Agrovet, we have increased women’s representation from 8 percent to 12 percent in FY25 and are committed to reaching 32 percent by FY28. Through initiatives like creche and care policies, alongside ensuring a safe and secure environment for women in frontline roles, we are fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace that empowers women to thrive,” she further added.

To showcase its commitment to empowering women across the food value chain—from farm to fork—Godrej Agrovet highlighted the impactful initiatives of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Godrej Foods Limited (GFL). By supporting farmers like Bhagyamma in Karnataka and Jayshri in Nashik, and enabling distribution leaders like Rozaline in Manipur, GFL is fostering inclusivity and resilience. Through programs like WINGS, GFL is bringing more women into sales, marketing, and leadership roles, driving innovation and shaping an equitable and sustainable food supply chain led by women.

The summit also featured two panel discussions. “Breaking Barriers for Women in Agriculture”, moderated by Mallika Mutreja, Head – Human Resources, Godrej Agrovet, included panelists Kirti Jangra, Co-Founder, Animall; Asha Kharga, Chief Customer and Brand Officer, Mahindra Group; Anitha Polimetla, Head of HR APAC & Global HRBP, BASF and Prof. Vidya Vemireddy, Faculty Member, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA).

“Boardroom to Breakthroughs: Women in Leadership”, moderated by Parmesh Shahani, Head – Godrej DEI Lab, featured Neetu Kashiramka, Managing Director, VIP Industries; Ritu Verma, Founder and Managing Partner, Ankur Capital; and Soumya Rajan, Managing Director, Waterfield Advisors.

The Women in Agriculture Summit has become a catalyst for systemic change. Through its initiatives and insights, Godrej Agrovet is leading efforts to recognize, celebrate, and amplify women’s contributions, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable agricultural future.

Brings together industry experts to discuss preventive steps to protect pigs from African Swine Fever and best practises for pig farm management

Bengaluru, January 3, 2025 — Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet), a leading diversified agri-business company, today announced the launch of Godrej Pride Hog, a scientifically developed pig feed range designed to provide optimal nutrition at each stage of a pig’s lifecycle. The range includes Starter, Grower, and Finisher variants, ensuring balanced nutrition for better health, immunity, and growth.

As part of the launch, Godrej Agrovet organized a roundtable discussion in Guwahati to address preventive measures against African Swine Fever (ASF) and best practices for pig farm management. The event saw participation from industry experts, including Dr. Purnananda Konwar, General Manager, Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation Ltd and Capt. (Dr.) A.Y. Rajendra, CEO, Animal Feed Business, Godrej Agrovet.

Commenting on the launch, Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director, Godrej Agrovet said, “With half of the country’s ~9-million pig population located in the North East, pig farming is a vital source of livelihood for small and marginal farmers. In line with our commitment to uplift farming families, Pride Hog offers a high-quality, research-backed feed solution that enhances pig health, boosts immunity, and maximizes growth potential. We are confident it will contribute to improving farmer profitability and productivity.”

Since its first detection in 2020, ASF has posed significant challenges for pig farmers in the North East. This highly contagious viral disease affects domestic and wild pigs, causing severe economic consequences due to its high mortality rate.

Dr. Purnananda Konwar, General Manager, Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation Ltd, noted, ” The North East’s vulnerability to ASF outbreaks highlights the urgent need for preventive measures and modernized pig farming practices. Initiatives like the National Livestock Mission are helping farmers and businesses adopt scientific approaches to build resilience in the sector.”

In the absence of a vaccine, effective management of ASF relies on preventive measures such as strict biosecurity protocols, controlled pig movement, quarantine periods, and maintaining proper hygiene. Additionally, providing high-quality feed to enhance immunity is crucial for mitigating the disease’s impact.

Speaking on the nutritional benefits of Pride Hog, Capt. (Dr.) A.Y. Rajendra, CEO – Animal Feed Business, Godrej Agrovet, said, “Pride Hog is more than just feed—it is a comprehensive nutritional solution designed to meet the unique needs of pigs at every growth stage. From preventing piglet mortality and diarrhoea to enhancing immunity, our feed ensures faster growth and overall health.”

The Pride Hog range includes Pride Hog Starter: For piglets (2 weeks to 2 months); 20g–1kg/day; Pride Hog Grower: For pigs (2–4 months); 1.2–2.6kg/day; Pride Hog Finisher: For pigs (4 months to trading); 2.8–3.5kg/day. This stage-wise approach ensures optimal nutrition and resilience throughout a pig’s lifecycle.

Godrej Agrovet’s Animal Feed Business emphasizes preventive healthcare through biosecurity measures such as restricted farm access, equipment disinfection, pig isolation, and hygiene maintenance. The launch of Pride Hog underscores the company’s commitment to empowering farmers with sustainable, science-driven solutions that improve livestock health and farmer productivity.
