]]> NEW DELHI. South Korea’s POSCO Group has signed a final agreement with JSW Steel to jointly invest $7.3 billion (10.7 trillion won) to set up an integrated steel plant in Odisha. Both companies will hold equal 50 percent stakes in the project, which will have an annual production capacity of 6 million tonnes and is targeted for completion by 2031. The facility will cover the entire steel manufacturing process at a single location.

The investment is part of POSCO’s strategy to expand its global supply chain and establish a strong production base in India. The development follows earlier agreements signed between the two firms in 2024 and 2025. Meanwhile, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have also emphasized deeper cooperation in energy supply, trade, and emerging sectors such as critical minerals and artificial intelligence.
