Sairam has outlined 2026 as the “Year of Reform and Transformation” during a meeting with Functional Directors, the CVO, and senior executives at the company’s headquarters in Kolkata. Reflecting on the organisation’s growth from 79 million tonnes in 1975 to 781 million tonnes in 2025, he stressed the need for continuous reform to stay future-ready. The Chairman called for faster rollout of First Mile Connectivity projects, reduced dependence on road transport, stronger ESG focus, and Coal India’s evolution into a technology-driven enterprise. Directors highlighted priorities including AI-led training, workforce reskilling, cost optimisation, enhanced efficiency, digital initiatives, customer focus, diversification into renewables and critical minerals, and strengthened governance with greater transparency.</p>

Director (Technical), Shri Achyut Ghatak, presented the current status of FMC initiatives and emphasized their importance as an eco-friendly and sustainable transport solution, offering insights into project design and execution. The session was also addressed by Shri Manoj Kumar (CMD, CMPDI), Shri J.P. Dwivedi (CMD, WCL), and Shri N.K. Singh (CMD, CCL).</p>
