Meanwhile Maharashtra BJP MLA and spokesperson Atul Bhatkhalkar sought the attention of the Chief Minister asking him to send the Police Commissioner on leave to end the deadlock in the ongoing probe into the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. While another BJP leader BJP leader Ashish Shelar accused Sushant Singh Rajput’s psychotherapist Susan Walker Moffat of sharing details about the mental health of the late actor to the media in violation of the law.

Shelar also asked if Moffat, a foreign national, was practising in India illegally, and demanded that she be probed by various agencies.

Bihar IPS officer Vinay Tiwari, who was quarantined in Mumbai after his arrival to oversee probe in Sushant Singh Rajput death case, was allowed to return to his home state Bihar.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today allowed Bihar IPS officer to return to his home state. The Superintendent of Police of Central Patna, Tiwai has been exempted from quarantine protocols.

Tiwari had reached Mumbai on Sunday to oversee an investigation into the FIR filed against actress Rhea Chakraborty in the Sushant death case. Rhea, the girlfriend of Rajput, was booked on abetment to suicide and other charges on a complaint filed by Sushant Singh’s father in Patna.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case in the matter after the central government accepted the Bihar government`s recommendation for a CBI probe in the matter.

The bench of justices DY Chandrachud and MR Shah also issued notices to the Centre, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and union territory of Jammu and Kashmir where cases have been registered against Goswami.

The court also stayed all FIRs against him except the one registered at Sadar Police Station in Nagpur. It transferred the FIR in Nagpur to Mumbai where it will be investigated.

The bench also ordered Mumbai Police Commissioner to provide security to Goswami and Republic TV office.

The FIRs were filed for hate speeches and for defamation of Congress president Sonia Gandhi for remarks made by Goswami during his primetime show on the Hindi language channel of his Republic TV which aired on April 21.

Goswami had moved the Supreme Court on Thursday seeking a stay on the FIRs.

Goswami hosted a discussion on the Palghar lynching case on his TV channel which, he said in his plea before the Supreme Court, questioned the tardy investigation, inconsistent versions of the authorities and the administration and the state government’s silence on the incident.

Goswami accused the Congress, which is part of the government in Maharashtra, of leading a well-coordinated, widespread, vindictive and malicious campaign against him.

Goswami claimed that the FIRs registered against him are false and vindictive and have been done by the Congress activists to harass and intimidate him and dissuade him from conducting investigative journalism and bringing the truth before the public

“The complaints and FIRs are a part of well-coordinated and malicious campaign by the Congress and its members of instituting false and baseless complaints against the Petitioner before different police stations simultaneously in various parts of the country,” Goswami said in his petition.

The complaints and FIRs, Goswami alleged, have been registered with the intention to muzzle free speech under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.

The petition, however, does not mention anything about Congress president Sonia Gandhi though some of the FIRs against Goswami are for criminal defamation of Gandhi.

A first information report (FIR) was filed on 28 February at Koramangala police station in Bengaluru against Sachin Bansal, father Sat Prakash Agarwal, bother Nitin Bansal and mother Kiran Bansal for demanding “dowry” and gifts at the time of the wedding.

Priya Bansal, the complainant, has alleged that her father had spent ₹50 lakh on the wedding and had given Sachin ₹11 lakh in cash instead of a car. She also alleged that her husband was pressurising her to transfer properties in her name to him, and after she refused to do so, she was harassed by her in-laws.
The complainant also alleged physical and sexual assault charges on the accused.

“Post wedding, it was decided that it I will stay with my husband. Before the wedding, in-laws visited my home and asked for more dowry. My husband and in-laws have been giving me mental and physical torture since the wedding for dowry. When my sister (name withheld) was in Delhi, Sachin had sexually assaulted her. Sachin had tried to transfer all properties in my name to his name and when I refused, Sachin had physically assaulted me on 20 October 2019. I have been tortured mentally and physically by in-laws for dowry,” Priya Bansal alleged in the FIR.

The police may soon call Sachin Bansal for the investigation.

University officials have claimed a group of students, led by Ms Ghosh – who is President of the students union and Saket Moon – who is Vice President – broke into the server room on Friday and vandalised servers to hamper registration ahead of the winter semester.

Officials said they sought to restore servers but “miscreants” re-entered around 1 pm on Saturday and again damaged them. Servers were restored for a second time around 4 pm, university officials said.

JNU Students Union hit back and said the university administration used “masked” security guards to destroy the server room and attack students. “They were shamefully wearing masks. JNUSU president was openly slapped,” the JNUSU had alleged.

Meanwhile Union minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday said “masked” men involved in the JNU attack will be exposed soon as the Home ministry has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an event, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said misunderstanding are deliberately being spread in JNU and others parts of the country to incite violence. “I feel that Home minister has ordered an enquiry and the masked men involved in the JNU attack will soon be unmasked.

Delhi Police is taking the help of video footage and face recognition system to identify those involved in the violence at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) here on Sunday, government sources said. The violence was perpetrated by a group of masked men at the premises of the prestigious institution.

The Delhi Police has registered two FIRs in connection with vandalism at the server room at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, police said on Tuesday. The FIRs were registered on the complaint of JNU administration on 5 January, they said.

The JNU administration had given the names of students union office bearers including its president Aishe Gosh in connection with the vandalism but police have not put her name or that of other students in the accused column of the FIRs.
